Wasteland: I Awakened A Plant System
Chapter 246: Lawrence
Logically speaking, Zombie blood should’ve been dark, rotten, and viscous like dried oil.
But the blood flowing from the Physician Attendant’s body was bright red.
Although it still carried the faint stench of a corpse, it looked almost no different from a living human’s blood.
Seeing this, Vikram suddenly recalled something the Survival Platform had once said.
"Those Survivors who die for various reasons do not need to worry. The benevolent Wasteland World will grant them a different form to reappear in the world."
"Different form..."
Vikram’s eyes narrowed slightly.
As the intelligence of Zombies increased, they also became increasingly similar to humans.
Then, didn’t that mean... the higher these Zombies evolved, the closer they would become to actual humans?
"Hiss..."
Thinking of this possibility, even Vikram couldn’t help inhaling sharply.
Such individuals would possess the physique of a Zombie and the mind of a normal human.
If they could coexist harmoniously with Survivors, that would naturally be best, but if not, it would be an even greater disaster for ordinary Survivors.
Meanwhile, while Vikram was lost in thought, the battle between Warry, Gardi, and the Physician Attendant never stopped.
Even though the Legendary Zombie was currently at a disadvantage, its physical ability still remained terrifyingly strong.
Within only a short period of time, the three sides had already clashed no fewer than a hundred times.
"Clang!" "Bang!" "Swish!"
The corridor continuously shook under the impact of their battle.
At that moment, Vikram suddenly looked toward the Physician Attendant and casually asked:
"Hey... have you had enough yet?"
Normally, ordinary Zombies would never react to human speech.
However, the Physician Attendant suddenly froze for an instant.
Its movements paused ever so slightly.
But in the very next moment, its gaze turned even colder.
As if remembering how this human had constantly interfered with him, and how Warry and Gardi had repeatedly wounded it, the Legendary Zombie immediately focused back on the battle.
However, that tiny moment of hesitation had already been captured by Vikram completely.
No matter how much the Physician tried concealing it, it had reacted.
Which meant, whether it fully understood speech or not was irrelevant.
At the very least, it understood intent.
"It really is an alternative resurrection..."
Vikram muttered faintly.
His eyes gradually deepened.
But if one thought Vikram would suddenly spare the Physician Attendant because of this realization, they were completely mistaken.
Resurrection or not, what did it matter to him? Right now, the only thing Vikram cared about was clearing the Hospital Ruins.
Whether the creature before him was, Zombie, human, or something in between, if it stood in his way, then it still had to die!
After silently reaching his conclusion, Vikram’s gaze gradually turned cold as he looked toward the heavily injured Physician Attendant.
"Gardi, Warry... you’ve played enough. Finish him."
The moment the order was given, both Druids immediately moved.
"BOOM!!"
Countless reinforced vines suddenly erupted from beneath the shattered Hospital floor. This time, Gardi no longer held back at all. Thick vines instantly wrapped around both the Physician Attendant’s legs and remaining arm, forcefully locking the Legendary Zombie in place.
At the same time, Warry charged forward without hesitation.
"Swish!! Bang!! Crack!!"
The Warrior Druid continuously unleashed violent slashes toward the Zombie’s chest. Every strike was accompanied by splashing blood, shattered flesh, and the dense sound of cracking bones echoing throughout the corridor.
The Physician Attendant frantically struggled while its surgical knife continuously flashed through the air. However, its body had already suffered too many injuries, and under Gardi’s strengthened restraints, it could no longer tear free as easily as before.
By the time it barely managed to free one arm, countless new wounds had already appeared across its body.
Even so, the Legendary Zombie clearly still wanted to escape.
Unfortunately for it, neither Warry nor Gardi intended to give it even the slightest opportunity.
"Splurt!!"
A foul-smelling severed arm suddenly flew into the air. The detached limb still tightly gripped the blood-covered surgical knife before crashing heavily onto the Hospital floor.
Immediately afterward, Warry instantly closed the distance. Raising one knee violently upward, he smashed it directly into the Physician Attendant’s abdomen.
"CRACK!!!"
The terrifying impact instantly sent the Legendary Zombie flying backward once again. Several ribs shattered on the spot, while its chest caved inward deeply like a punctured balloon.
At this point, the Legendary Zombie that had previously suppressed both Warry and Gardi for nearly half the battle no longer possessed any ability to fight back.
Seeing itself cornered, the Physician Attendant immediately opened its mouth, clearly intending to summon nearby Zombies.
However, before any sound could emerge, Gardi suddenly charged forward and slammed his massive shield directly into the Zombie’s face.
"BOOM!!"
The Physician Attendant’s face visibly deformed from the impact, and its mouth twisted violently.
Before it could recover, Gardi stepped forward again and delivered a brutal uppercut directly into its lower jaw.
"CRACK!!"
Broken fangs, shattered teeth, and flesh exploded outward simultaneously as the Legendary Zombie’s lower jaw instantly became a bloody mess.
Then Warry raised his massive blade once more.
The giant weapon swept through the air in a full circle.
"Swish!! Swish!! Swish!!"
Three crisp cutting sounds echoed throughout the corridor.
In the next instant, the Physician Attendant’s remaining limbs were severed completely.
Its body collapsed heavily onto the Hospital floor.
The once terrifying Legendary Zombie had now completely turned into a limbless corpse.
Vikram glanced toward it briefly before speaking calmly, "A human pig? No... more like a zombie pig."
—
Vikram continued keeping a close watch on the limbless Physician Attendant and deliberately chose not to kill it immediately.
Earlier, while searching the fifth floor for the Legendary Zombie, he had already discovered its nest inside one of the large Hospital wards.
Just like the underground nests formed by ordinary Zombies, this Physician Attendant had clearly evolved to the Legendary-level by continuously absorbing nutrients and flesh within its territory.
As for why its evolution speed was far faster than normal Zombies, even Vikram himself could not determine the exact reason.
However, one thing was certain.
The moment the Physician Attendant died completely, another Ruin trial would most likely begin immediately, just like what had happened previously in Cameron Town.
And before entering another unknown battlefield, Vikram still had many things to handle.
He needed, to clear the Hospital completely, gather all remaining supplies, and allow both himself and the Plant Druids a short period of rest.
Only then would he deal with the Legendary Zombie completely.
—
Afterward, Vikram brought his Plant Team downstairs and began cleaning out the remaining Zombies throughout the Hospital.
Most of the remaining undead were only ordinary or low-grade Zombies.
Against the current Plant Army, they posed almost no threat at all.
Especially Warry.
Perhaps because of the earlier battle against the Physician Attendant, the Warrior Druid seemed unusually aggressive.
Everywhere it passed, Zombies were directly cut apart.
"Swish!" "Bang!" "Crack!"
In just a short amount of time, Warry alone had already slaughtered over a hundred Zombies throughout the Hospital floors.
The remaining Plant Druids mainly focused on gathering supplies and securing the surroundings.
Soon enough, the first floor was completely cleared.
Large amounts of medicine, food, equipment, and materials were piled together by the Plant Units.
Originally, Vikram planned to finish preparations first before finally killing the Physician Attendant upstairs.
However, just as he relaxed slightly, he casually glanced toward his Bio Detector.
And his expression instantly changed.
A large group of people had unknowingly gathered outside the Hospital.
If they were merely ordinary Survivors coming to scavenge supplies, Vikram naturally would not have cared much.
After all, ever since Brown Wood Shelter exposed this place, many Survivors already knew about the Hospital Ruins.
But this group was different.
The people outside stood in organized formations.
Their weapons, positioning, and movements clearly showed signs of discipline.
Most importantly, they all belonged to the same faction.
And when Vikram finally saw the person leading them, he immediately understood who had arrived.
—
The person leading the group outside was none other than the boss of Brown Wood Shelter— 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Lawrence.
The moment Vikram saw him, the identities of the Survivors behind him also became obvious.
They were clearly members of Brown Wood Shelter.
And not just a few of them either.
At a glance, there were nearly a hundred armed Survivors gathered outside the Hospital entrance.
Meanwhile, Brown Wood Shelter had naturally also noticed Vikram’s group inside the Hospital.
However, for some unknown reason, neither side made a move immediately.
At that moment, one of Lawrence’s subordinates stepped closer and spoke in a low voice.
"Boss, Dick’s avatar turned gray. He’s probably dead."
Lawrence frowned slightly.
"Dead?"
Brown Wood Shelter had intentionally spread the news about the Hospital Ruins earlier.
Their goal was simple:
use other Survivors as cannon fodder to clear the Zombies inside while Brown Wood Shelter reaped the rewards afterward without losing manpower.
Naturally, Lawrence had arranged people nearby to monitor the Hospital at all times.
Dick was one of those guards.
As long as powerful Survivors appeared, Brown Wood Shelter would immediately receive the information.
Originally, Lawrence would not personally bother coming over just because some ordinary Zombies were being cleared.
However, after hearing reports that someone here could directly punch an Epic-level monster to death, he immediately brought people over himself.
And not just a small group.
Nearly one hundred Survivors stood behind him now.
That number alone represented almost one-third of Brown Wood Shelter’s total current forces.
Unlike the old man Snape, Lawrence was far more ambitious.
His goal was not merely survival.
He wanted to annex every surrounding force.
Naturally, that also included Vikram’s Territory.
A few days earlier, one of his subordinates had already reported information about Vikram and his unusual Territory.
At that moment, another subordinate beside Lawrence asked quietly,
"Boss, it seems the Zombies inside have already been cleared by them. Should we move in?"
Hearing this, Lawrence looked toward the Hospital interior.
His gaze first landed on the Plant Druids standing nearby.
A faint smile gradually appeared on his face.
"Alright. Bring everyone inside. As for their leader..."
Lawrence’s smile deepened slightly.
"I’ll personally deal with him."
—
The twenty-man team that had just stepped onto the Hospital grounds wore relaxed expressions.
Some of them were even discussing among themselves whether they would get a chance to "have fun" with the women at home, after everything here was settled.
However, even after noticing the arrival of nearly a hundred members from Brown Wood Shelter, Vikram showed no reaction whatsoever.
Instead, he calmly turned toward Archy.
"The medicine storage in the basement was cleared properly, right?"
"Yes, Vik," Archy replied while lowering his bow slightly.
"That’s good."
The conversation continued casually, as if the armed Survivors outside simply did not exist.
Seeing themselves completely ignored, the members of Brown Wood Shelter instantly became furious.
One of them, a man named Mohit, stepped forward angrily and shouted, "Who the hell do you think you are, brat?"
"Are you treating us like air?"
"Do you believe I’ll—"
"Bang!!"
Before Mohit could even finish speaking, a horrifying sound suddenly echoed through the Hospital entrance.
It sounded exactly like a watermelon exploding.
With a dull thud, Mohit’s body collapsed onto the ground.
His head had already been smashed so deeply into his chest that it looked almost flattened.
No one present had even seen how Vikram attacked.
Silence instantly fell across the surroundings.
Then, under everyone’s shocked gaze, several corpses were suddenly dragged out from deeper inside the Hospital and casually thrown onto the floor one after another.
Lawrence’s expression immediately changed.
Among those corpses, he quickly recognized several subordinates he had previously sent to monitor the Hospital.
Vikram casually glanced toward Lawrence.
"Here, Shelter Chief Lawrence."
"See if any of these dogs belong to your family. Hurry up and claim them. It’ll save me the trouble of dragging these pieces of trash around."
His calm tone carried obvious mockery.
Lawrence stared coldly at the corpses on the ground before slowly looking back toward Vikram.
The killing intent in his eyes immediately intensified.
"Attack."
