"Take them down, protect the people! Don’t let them get any further!" I ordered, leaping up into the air.

Once I was up in the sky, I could see just how bad things were.

The Anomalies had cut a swathe through the forest and were tearing up the land left and right as they moved along.

The somewhat good news was that this area was meant to be a national park so there weren’t any settlements around for a kilometre or so.

But they were currently tearing up the farmland just beyond the trees and it looked like they were headed right towards a village at the edge of the farmland.

I was going to chase after them when an explosion came out from the lake, revealing the giant worm that we saw earlier appearing out from the lake.

At this distance, I managed to see that the worm looked similar to an earthworm aside from the fact that the front end opened up to reveal a circular mouth with rows upon rows of serrated teeth.

It arched through the air in a separate direction from where the demon Anomalies were headed, burrowing back into the earth again.

Shortly after, it exploded out from the ground again to arch through the air a distance away before crashing back down into the ground, clearly trying to get somewhere.

Looking beyond the worm, I realised it was headed towards the city centre of Chiang Mai itself.

I felt the hair at the back of my neck stand and I immediately shifted my gravity to shoot myself towards the direction of the city, flying above the direction the worm should be travelling.

I will have to trust my Guardians and the military to be able to deal with the other Anomalies that were of a much lesser threat than this worm.

The worm soon appeared again and I materialised a giant fist that was about half the worm’s size and smashed it into its side.

The good news was that I managed to catch up to it when it was flying over a bunch of hills so I didn’t need to worry about accidentally crushing some poor Thai underneath the creature.

I watched as the worm crashed onto one of the hills, flattening the vegetation on it as it squirmed around and let out an ear piercing shriek from being hit.

The worm wiggled around on the ground, flattening even more of the trees and also causing a small landslide on one of the hills.

It then tried to burrow under the ground again so I started smashing it with my floating fists, wailing on it without mercy to stop it from trying to escape.

The worm arched its ’back’ and its tail came flying towards me in an attempt to smack me out of the air.

But unfortunately for the worm, I saw the tail coming so I already had my hand out and caught it before it could hit me.

Thankfully, it wasn’t as strong as the boss Anomaly I had to fight so I managed to stop the blow without being sent flying away.

With its tail in my hand, I made sure it was not going anywhere as I continued punching at it with my fist.

The ground rumbled from the blows and I only just realised that the people around who weren’t aware that there’s a Rift Breakout might mistake this for an earthquake.

I suppose that’s a good thing since they would be seeking shelter because of that and that might save them from the other Anomalies.

Eventually, the flesh of the worm started to break apart as I smashed it open, crushing through its skin and sending pieces of its crushed flesh flying into the air.

I ignored it and continued to pummel the worm, making sure I had a good grip on its tail to prevent it from fleeing even as it continued to try to burrow back into the ground.

Eventually, I got tired of it constantly wiggling around which made it hard to punch at it accurately so I used the giant hands to grab at its ’neck’. More specifically, the part that was closest to its mouth.

I then started to squeeze on it, holding it in place even as it tried its best to wiggle free, only to find that I was not budging in the slightest.

I tightened my grip and there was a loud pop before the neck I was holding exploded in my hands, causing the ’head’ of the worm to go flying up into the sky while spraying out its blood to rain down on the hills below.

I pity whoever has to clean all that up after this...

Also... I managed to keep myself from being splattered by the remains by summoning another hand in front of me to act as a shield, letting it take all of the splash before unsummoning it and watching the blood drop towards the ground.

I then released the worm, letting it fall back onto the ground before turning back in preparation to fly back to assist my Guardians.

But right before I could fly off, screams came from the direction of the city and I froze up.

I turned back around to see Anomalies had suddenly appeared on the outskirts of the city and were in the midst of smashing their way into the city itself.

What? How?! Where did they come from?!

I looked down at the worm, right as a few Anomalies suddenly expanded in size to appear from the worm’s remains to start charging down the hill.

Are you serious?!! They had been riding inside the worm and using it as some kind of transport?! Now that I killed it, they rushed out from its corpse and revealed themselves?!

Fuck, fuck, fuck!!

I dove back down towards the ground, smashing several of the Anomalies into meat paste with my floating arms before flying after those that managed to make it inside the city.

Thankfully, it seems like there were several people with abilities here as they quickly rallied and started to form a defensive line to defend the city against the Anomalies.

Despite the fact that they were facing against Anomalies that were the size of buildings, the people were standing firm and shouting for others to get out of there while they stood their ground.

And then in front of the group that was standing right in the middle of the main street... Was a certain Singaporean with a metal pipe in his hand wearing a t-shirt and pants instead of the full metal armour that I usually see him wearing.

Dan?!!! What are you-- Oh wait... He did say that he was coming here for a vacation...

Right now, he was standing in between several Thai locals that had grouped up with him to face one of those demon Anomalies.

It raised its hand and tried to swing down on the group but Dan stepped forward and took the brunt of the blow with his left hand, stopping it in its tracks.

He then used the pipe to smash at the demon’s wrist, which didn’t really cause much damage as the pipe snapped the moment it hit the demon.

That didn’t matter as one of the locals shot out a beam from his eyes, the light striking against the Anomaly’s chest and forcing it back a step.

The rest let out a warcry and charged at the Anomaly, swinging their own weapons and shooting their spells and abilities at the demon.

With their combined attack, the Anomaly was quickly struck down and fell to the ground in a heap.

Obviously, I wasn’t just watching them and doing nothing as I swiped a pair of Anomalies away, smashing them out of the city to crash into a heap at the side of the road.

Another Anomaly tried to charge at Dan’s group and this time I decided to step in as I flew down on top of it to punch it into the ground before it could reach them.

To the people on the ground, they only saw a giant fist flying down to smash the demon out of nowhere so it was pretty amusing to see them gape at the fist in surprise.

I slowly lifted it back up and they finally noticed me floating up in the air to realise I was the one that killed the Anomaly.

Dan noticed me immediately and since he already knew it was me, he smirked at me before giving me a rather subtle middle finger where the people around him couldn’t see it.

Yeah, fuck you too, bitch. Go take care of your family, you bastard. I got this place handled so leave it to me.

I turned back to face the other Anomalies that were still trying to enter the city.

I stayed in the air for a moment and summoned my floating arms above my shoulders, clenching them into fists.

Sorry, but all of you aren’t getting past me... And after you guys, I’m going to take care of your friends behind as well...
