When Love Turns the Tables: The Mysterious Husband's Chase
Chapter 863: Sheng Yanxiao vs. Su Weiyi (Part 1-2)
Tang Yanqi smiled and looked Su Weiyi up and down: "Xiao Yi, why have you gotten thinner again?"
"No, maybe I’ve just gotten taller?"
Su Weiyi’s smile was sweet, like the most beautiful lotus blooming in the pond.
Sheng Yanxiao’s gaze lingered on her face for two seconds, and his originally expressionless mouth gradually curled into a smile.
Tang Yanqi lovingly patted Su Weiyi’s hair: "Is high school study too tiring? Don’t push yourself, just do your best."
Su Weiyi smiled and nodded. A lazy voice interjected from the side: "Mrs. Sheng, have you forgotten there’s still a living person standing here?"
As soon as he spoke, two pairs of eyes turned to look at him. The smile on Su Weiyi’s face gradually faded, and Tang Yanqi gave her son a reproachful look but ignored him, pulling Su Weiyi into the private room.
After the two turned around, the little smile Young Master Sheng had been wearing vanished.
Great, he could smile so happily facing others, but when it came to him, nothing?
——
Since Sheng Jiayu and Mu Ke got married half a year ago, their whole family moved to S City. Sheng Jiayu settled in, taking care of her pregnancy while reopening her bookstore here.
Perhaps the more bohemian atmosphere of S City made a difference; what started as a hobby actually turned quite profitable. In just three years, Sheng Jiayu’s bookstore in S City grew to have seven branches, and it was from the income of the bookstore itself, without any additional investment.
Sheng Jiayu safely gave birth to a boy, named Mu Jiaceng. Young Jia Cheng completely inherited his father’s cold demeanor, perpetually aloof yet full of his own ideas, wanting to study abroad.
Although Sheng Jiayu did not agree, her son’s determination was firm, and Mu Ke did not object, so they simply let him go.
Perhaps becoming a mother made Sheng Jiayu exceptionally fond of children, but her own son’s insistence on going abroad was something she couldn’t prevent. Therefore, when Su Weiyi finished her middle school exams and came to S City for a vacation, she suggested attending high school here, which made Sheng Jiayu very happy.
After discussing it with Sheng Jianan, Tang Yanqi also thought it might be a good idea.
For some reason, although when Su Weiyi was small she was quite lively, loving to paint and generally being a very lively and adorable little girl, except when she was quietly painting.
But at some point, she had become less and less talkative, with no friends around, always quiet.
She would come home from school saying, "I’m back," and before bed, she would say, "Daddy, Mummy, good night."
Other than that, she hardly said a word, unless you asked her, and even then, she would only answer with the bare minimum.
Tang Yanqi worried a lot about this, but whenever she brought it up, Su Weiyi would just say, "Mummy, I’m fine."
Indeed, she was fine. She studied hard and had excellent grades, but she just wouldn’t talk.
The Sheng family’s influence in B City was too significant and too dazzling, and almost everyone at school knew she was the Sheng family’s daughter, though many also knew she was not a biological daughter of the Sheng family.
It’s unknown if this was the reason why, during adolescence, Su Weiyi became more sensitive than before. So when Su Weiyi expressed her wish to study in S City, both Miss Tang and Mr. Sheng felt that maybe a change of environment would be beneficial for her.
