When Love Turns the Tables: The Mysterious Husband's Chase
Chapter 902: Reminiscence Through Objects (2)
Sheng Yanxiao weighed the last two coins in his hand. He could still play one more round. Sheng Yanxiao decisively fed them in. Just now he’d been relying purely on luck without using his brain at all. Now, though, he deliberately shook the claw of the crane machine, quickly calculating in his head the range of its swing and how loose the claw was.
Adding in the experience from the last few tries, Sheng Yanxiao came to a conclusion: those round, chubby ones that looked easy to grab actually couldn’t hold any weight; he had to grab the ones with arms and legs, somewhere the claw could latch onto.
He quickly finished his calculations, moved, dropped the claw, success.
All he cared about was speed and accuracy, so he hadn’t even looked at what he’d actually caught. Now that he took it out, he immediately frowned. A little white bear, wearing a pink dress that looked cheap at first glance. The main thing was that shade of pink was tacky as hell and really not pretty at all.
He glanced back. Su Weiyi still hadn’t come out. Sheng Yanxiao turned, about to look for a trash can, when he saw a little girl holding an ice cream cone next to him, her bright eyes fixed on him... or rather, on the bear in his hand.
Young Master Sheng was in a great mood today. He took a few steps over to the little girl. "You want it?"
The little girl’s eyes lit up even more. Sheng Yanxiao smiled at her and stuffed the little bear into her arms.
It took the girl a long moment to react. She hugged the bear and took off running. After a few steps, she stopped, turned back, and ran over again. "Thank you, big brother."
Her period had come. Luckily, she’d figured it would be around these days, so she’d prepared in advance. After fussing around in the restroom for a while, she came out and didn’t see Sheng Yanxiao at the door. She lifted her gaze and looked around, and at a glance she saw the slender figure by the claw machine over there.
Sheng Yanxiao was leaning against a round pillar, arms crossed, eyes lowered. He looked lazy and languid. In the noisy, bustling mall, the bit of space around him seemed almost frozen in time.
Su Weiyi walked over, smiling. "Sorry to keep you waiting."
Sheng Yanxiao straightened up, a smile in his unruly brows and eyes. He pointed at the claw machine next to him. "Wanna play?"
Unlike him, Su Weiyi had always been a lot more down-to-earth. She’d played this kind of thing before, but she’d never managed to catch anything.
She’d seen people catch one, but it was always after they’d spent enough money to buy ten plushies.
Su Weiyi shook her head. "These things are rigged by the business. You can’t catch anything. It’s a waste of money."
As if to prove her point, a girl’s complaining voice came from nearby: "Look at you, how many times have you tried now? You never catch anything."
It was a young couple. They weren’t speaking quietly, and their voices carried clearly to Su Weiyi and Sheng Yanxiao’s ears.
Young Master Sheng raised his brows. "Can’t catch anything? Says who? What if I do catch one?"
His tone had a hint of roguishness, obviously digging a pit for someone to jump into.
Su Weiyi couldn’t help laughing. "If you catch one, I’ll treat you to dinner?" 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Sheng Yanxiao dipped his head slightly. "No need for dinner."
As he spoke, he tilted his head, lowered his voice by her ear, and said, "If I catch one, you give me a kiss. Two, two kisses, and so on, okay?"
Of course only the two of them could hear Sheng Yanxiao’s words, but Su Weiyi felt like everyone around them had heard, because it suddenly seemed to her that the people nearby had gone quiet.
Before she could snap out of it, Sheng Yanxiao straightened up, laughter in his brows and eyes. He turned and walked off, waving as he went. "Deal. I’m going to change coins."
