"Alright, we’ll talk about it in person." After checking in with Tan You, Ji Mingxi then called Sister Li.

At that moment, Sister Li had just stepped out of the bathroom and was about to head to the study to put in some more work. Dressed in loungewear, she looked much gentler and softer.

"Calling me this late? Did you tell Sister Wen?" Sister Li asked, drying her hair as she spoke to Ji Mingxi.

"Yeah, Sister Wen said we’ll talk in person tomorrow." Ji Mingxi’s eyes crinkled in satisfaction. "Lili, if things really don’t work out, how about I become your assistant? The kind who just fetches tea and coffee?"

"You’re talented. Why would I really make you fetch tea and coffee?" Sister Li tossed the towel into the washing machine. "Besides, if it really doesn’t work out, it’s fine if you just stay home. I can still support you."

Ji Mingxi didn’t look the least bit offended. "Sounds great! I bet being supported by Lili would be an especially sweet life."

Sister Li felt a helpless sense of amusement. Ji Mingxi was certainly taking it all in stride. But she had to admit, that was a good thing. What she feared most was the kind of man who was incapable and relied on a woman for support, yet stubbornly refused to admit it.

Tan You also had to think carefully about how to place Ji Mingxi. From the looks of things, he and Sister Li were a done deal. Plus, she was on good terms with Ji Mingxi, too, so she really had to give it some serious thought.

’Speaking of the company’s trainees... it might not be a bad idea if they had a veteran to guide them properly...’

The next day, in Tan You’s office, Ji Mingxi stammered as he looked at the contract and salary package she had pushed toward him. "This... this is so much money?"

Tan You raised an eyebrow. "The percentage is high, but it’s conditional on the aptitude of the trainees under your wing. The more outstanding they are, the more the company will reward you."

Ji Mingxi was instantly hyped, as if he’d had a shot of adrenaline. "I’ll definitely do a great job, then. I have a great eye for people."

Tan You didn’t doubt that. To have stayed popular for so many years in the cutthroat world of H Entertainment, Ji Mingxi definitely had something special. Besides, there was an uncanny knack to him—the people he took a shine to almost always ended up making it big.

"Alright, if you have no objections, then sign it," Tan You said, glancing at Sister Li. "Even though you two are a couple, I still think it’s important for people to have some personal space..."

Sister Li nodded, as Tan You’s words had clearly struck a chord. Ji Mingxi, however, grew anxious. "I’d never think that! I wish I could stay with Lili all the time."

"Lili..." Tan You drew out the name. "Alright, as long as you two are happy. To celebrate Ji Mingxi joining the company, let’s all have dinner tonight. My treat."

Sister Li laughed out loud. "Then we’ll have to thank you for your generosity, Sister Wen. I have things to do this afternoon to get him settled."

Tan You was magnanimous. "No problem. Most of the urgent work is done for now, anyway. You don’t have to be tied to the office every single day."

Sister Li got up and glanced at Ji Mingxi. "Shall we head back? I bought some things for you. If you don’t like them, we can go shopping for other things this afternoon."

"I’m sure I’ll love them," Ji Mingxi said, hurrying to catch up with her. "Lili, you’re so thoughtful..."

As their voices faded into the distance, Tan You shook her head slightly. She never imagined Sister Li and Ji Mingxi would move so fast. At the end of the day, however, she was happy for Sister Li. Ji Mingxi really was a good guy.

News traveled lightning-fast within the company, especially after Sister Li’s secretary snapped a picture of the exact moment she and Ji Mingxi were holding hands. Instantly, all the private group chats were buzzing. No one had ever imagined that Sister Li would actually get together with Ji Mingxi.

If people were skeptical at first, their doubts were erased that evening when the two of them arrived together. Only then did everyone accept that what they were seeing was real.

The head of the PR department was the first to stand up. "Sister Li, you kept this under wraps so well! We had no idea."

Sister Li offered a wry smile. "Oh, come on. I’m guessing you suspected it long ago. When it comes to being in the know, no one beats you."

The PR head chuckled. "It was just a guess before. The way he looked at you wasn’t exactly innocent. But I didn’t expect you to agree so easily. Didn’t you think about just dating for a while first?"

"That really wasn’t necessary," Sister Li replied. "He’s a wonderful person. Feelings can be nurtured, and as long as you’re with someone who’s fundamentally good, the outcome is never going to be bad."

The PR head smiled. "Then let me be the first to congratulate you. I’m really happy for you."

Sister Li smiled back. "Thanks. I’ll treat everyone to a meal sometime soon."

Ji Mingxi wasn’t shy with anyone there. He had an extroverted, lively personality, and since he’d been dropping by Tan You’s company so often over the years, he already knew most of the staff. Now that his status had changed, he hit it off with everyone even more.

Tan You clinked glasses with Sister Li. "Congratulations. I can see you’re in a great mood."

Sister Li smiled. "I really am quite happy. I used to be unable to imagine what it would be like living with someone else. But after just a few hours today, I’ve found it’s quite nice. He’s not a high-maintenance person."

"And he has good habits, too."

Tan You raised an eyebrow slightly and hesitated for a moment before saying, "Back when he and I went on that variety show..."

"I know you never really saw him as a man," Sister Li cut in. "I could see that very clearly. Besides, he already explained it to me. He never had a single inappropriate thought about you, from start to finish."

Tan You smiled. "As long as you’ve cleared the air, that’s what matters. I was just a little worried that once you two got together, there might be some public chatter. You know, something like, ’Dating Show Contestant Ends Up with His On-Screen Partner’s Best Friend’?"

Sister Li shrugged. "If there is, that’s something we’ll have to face. But I doubt there’ll be much. After all, it seems like everyone knows about your ’older sister, younger brother’ dynamic with him."

Tan You felt relieved. "If any nasty rumors do start, the company is always prepared. We absolutely won’t let you be wronged."

"Since when am I so easily wronged?" Sister Li sighed. "But honestly, if you two hadn’t known each other first, we probably would have never met. Fate is a strange thing, isn’t it?"

Thinking about it, Tan You had to agree. "You’re right, I was overthinking things."

Lu Wen was dazed when she first woke up. But after her mind was flooded with everything Tan You had experienced over the past few years, and after she saw the Best Screenplay award Tan You had won, Lu Wen was utterly floored.

"Youzi, I can act, I can dance—I’m fine with all that. But asking me to write screenplays and run a company? I can’t do any of that! I’ve never had anything to do with that stuff before."

Tan You wasn’t surprised to hear Lu Wen say that. "Then what do you plan to do? Go back to acting? With your status now, even if your acting is complete garbage, people will still blindly praise you."

Lu Wen sounded a little indignant. "Is my acting... really that bad?"
