Chapter 333: Chapter 333: Tang Li 61

Wen Xiao was naturally supportive of Tang Li wanting to focus on her career. Neither of them was the type to get lost in romantic sentiments. They were both shining in their own fields, mutually admiring and helping each other succeed. What could be better?

While Tang Li was monitoring the production schedule on set, the film starring You Li received a nomination at an international film festival. Director Liu’s team, well-versed in these matters, handled the overseas operations, so there was no need for Tang Li to rush around.

As for Tang Li, she just needed to watch the crew’s filming progress on set or discuss the movie’s direction with Director Liu. Of course, she was purely parroting Tan You’s words; she was well aware of her own abilities.

It wasn’t that Tan You was a true expert, either. Even though she had been shadowing and learning from Director Liu on set ever since Tang Li had woken up, it had only been a short time. But the script was Tan You’s own work, so in the end, she had her own vision for it.

So, after a few discussions, Director Liu grew a bit suspicious. "How have your skills improved so much? Some of your shot suggestions show real Spiritual Energy."

Tang Li gave a light cough and equivocated, "Well, I have been learning from you for so long, after all. I was bound to make some progress."

Turning to Tan You, she smiled. "Director Liu said your shots show Spiritual Energy! That’s high praise. Even Film Emperor Xie never received a compliment like that."

Tan You was only happy for a moment. "It’s just a bit of Spiritual Energy. My technique and foundation are still lacking. As expected, I still need to spend more time studying."

Tang Li was exasperated. "Take it easy! Don’t be so omnicompetent. It’s already hard enough for me to do a good job as a producer. When I was telling Director Liu about those shots, my knees were weak. I was terrified he’d see right through me."

Tan You reluctantly agreed. "Fine. I’ll try not to make things difficult for you."

After a moment’s thought, Tang Li said, "Forget it. I’ll just have to work harder myself. This movie is your baby, and I want to see it be the best it can be, too."

Tan You paused for a moment before laughing. She was actually quite moved. She had met several clients before, and the vast majority of them, after their lives had improved, simply settled down to enjoy their quiet little lives.

’Few would ever think of doing something for me in return, but Tang Li isn’t like that. Of course, it’s not that I think those other clients were bad. Maybe it’s because after finishing my tasks back then, I never thought about pursuing a career, so they never had a chance to help me even if they wanted to?’

Whatever the truth was, that was what Tan You chose to believe.

No matter how Ye Qian, Chu Fan, and the others worked themselves to the bone on set, as May approached, Director Liu had to fly abroad no matter what. He also took Ye Qian with him—after all, who could argue when she had been nominated for Best Supporting Actress?

As for the rest of the cast, they naturally took the next few days off to rest and further study their roles.

Tang Li, of course, went with them. Wen Xiao had wanted to come along, but he was too busy with work. How could he possibly free up that much time? So, all Wen Xiao could do was work overtime at his company, trying to scrape together a few vacation days so he could fly abroad.

Having attended film festivals and similar galas before, Tan You didn’t find it particularly special. But it was different for Tang Li. Back when she was a creative director, she had almost never attended any of the industry’s red carpet award ceremonies.

Although she had attended a few after her return, seeing one abroad, she realized it wasn’t all that different, to be frank. There were simply more celebrities and more reporters, that’s all.

As she walked the red carpet on Director Liu’s arm, Tang Li was still in the mood to joke. "Everyone is probably wondering how a small fry like me gets to walk the red carpet with you."

Director Liu nearly choked on his own saliva, managing to keep a straight face only through years of practice. "You really have no idea, do you? You’re so famous. The outside world only sees the actors and stars, but for people inside the industry, the ones they pay most attention to are the directors and screenwriters."

"There will always be more actors, but a screenwriter with exceptional talent is a rare find. Many people work their entire lives writing scripts, but only a handful ever make it to the big screen."

Tang Li thought for a moment, then smiled. "If the screenwriter is the foundation, then the director is the bridge that connects the words to the screen. I’ve always believed that being able to transform cold text into such stunning, moving images is an even more romantic and rare gift."

Director Liu was thoroughly pleased by Tang Li’s flattery. "Ah, Li Zi, from the day I met you, you’ve always had a way with words. Tell me honestly, did you win Wen Xiao over with all this sweet-talking?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

The actors around them immediately broke into laughter. Tang Li and Wen Xiao were very open about their relationship, so everyone knew she was married.

Tang Li retorted, "Of course not! He pursued me first. Besides, since when is being articulate the same as just flattering people?"

"Alright, alright, I can’t win against you," Director Liu didn’t argue back. It was genuinely difficult to chat while maintaining a perfect expression on the red carpet.

While on the red carpet, Tang Li also spotted Zhu Lin, a reporter she had met before. When Zhu Lin smiled at her, Tang Li smiled back, then glanced toward the entrance. Zhu Lin understood in a second and immediately pulled her photographer to rush over.

By the time she and her photographer reached the entrance, Tang Li’s group had arrived as well. Tang Li exchanged a few words with Zhu Lin, agreeing to an interview after the awards ceremony, before she and the others officially entered the venue.

Wen Xiao was already waiting by the door. Seeing Tang Li come in, he quickly walked over to support her, treating her with more care than if she were a queen.

Director Liu was a man of experience; he saw the clue in Wen Xiao’s actions at a glance. He narrowed his eyes slightly. "How long have you two been married?"

Wen Xiao chuckled. "I only found out yesterday myself. Thank you for taking care of her, Director Liu."

Director Liu waved his hand. "This is great news! If we win an award tonight, it’ll be a double blessing. You two are certainly efficient."

Tang Li also smiled. "It’s fate."

Director Liu muttered, "So that’s why you were being so careful today. It was because of this. If you have a little one as talented as you, that would be truly incredible."

Tang Li gave a dry laugh. "I’m not going to force the whole talent thing. As long as the little one is healthy and safe, that’s all that matters."

This was a mother’s most sincere wish for her child: not for great wealth or status, but simply for a long, healthy, and peaceful life. Wen Xiao squeezed Tang Li’s hand, clearly in agreement with her prayer. As parents, they would naturally be happy if their child earned great honors, but if they lived a simple life, being an ordinary, healthy person was also a fine outcome.

The scripts Tan You provided were always time-tested classics, and this one was no exception. As expected, You Li lifted the trophy. When he began his acceptance speech, he first glanced at Tang Li.

"Last year, I also stood on this stage when I won the award for Best Supporting Actor." He paused. "People are greedy. Having come so close to this trophy, I naturally wanted to hold it in my arms."

"Here, I want to thank Director Tang, Tang Li. She is truly a dream-maker. After I expressed my ambition to her, she didn’t laugh at me. Instead, she tailor-made this script for me, which is how I got the chance to be standing here today."
