Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon?
Chapter 1406 - 875: The Battle Ends (Part 2)
Because the Demon Clan possesses the abilities of countless creatures, digging tunnels to escape is just one option. Who knows what escape route this group of guys will choose once they get out? Growing wings for a spiral ascent is not out of the realm of possibility.
Overwhelming shadows cast over, enveloping all those present.
In the black mud spread across the ground, a giant serpent with nine heads has already formed, reminiscent of the mythical Hydra.
Each ferocious head, without a word, sprays black mud beams compressed into rays at the crowd. These attacks, whose trajectories are obvious, are naturally dodged completely by everyone.
Looking down, the compressed black mud rays create deep holes in the ground. Such power could surely pierce through a human body without issue.
"Awooo!"
The giant wolves howl at the sky, their wildness surging as their muscles instantly inflate. Simultaneously, the Fran Guards ignite the wolf blood within them, each with white hair waving as if aflame.
"Change the target of the campaign, take this thing down first."
Dal charged forward, leading the advance.
"If conditions allow, leave some specimens."
Outside the main battlefield of Hepa Town, the Fran Guards opened another round of overtime battles.
————————————
Within Hepa Town.
"Although I said I mastered the knack for dealing with these guys."
Covered in wounds and looking like a bloodied man, Tusi punched the Demon Clan in front of him. This blow, filled with rage, shattered the black shiny shell, revealing the distorted face of the Demon Clan.
Seeing this face capable of stopping a child from crying at night, the force in Tusi's fist suddenly weakened a bit but then grew stronger than before.
The thought that these transformed Demon Clan members were normal humans prior makes him hesitated to strike, but knowing that killing them now is to free them to rest in peace, adds weight to his blows.
At this moment, he is separated from his teammates, fighting the Demon Clan alone inside the walls. Inside, the amount of Demon Clan far exceeds imagination, no wonder they could instantly incapacitate the magicians controlling the Magic Sky Curtain.
And the rebel army doesn't even know where these Demon Clan came from, and there's no sign of tunnels. Could they be spawning out of thin air?
The outside battlefield shows an overwhelming human advantage, but they haven't assigned anyone to manage this small battlefield inside the walls, leaving Tusi to hold on bitterly all by himself, uncertain about his separated comrades' survival.
Luckily, thanks to his sharp hearing since childhood, he can hear people outside shouting the Demon Clan's weak spots even while inside the walls.
"Haaah!"
He repeatedly pounds the Demon Clan's head with his fists, keeps it in a soft liquid state, then punches again into the liquid avatar.
The enchanted finger tiger on his fist glows with magical light, the Demon Clan's head expands until it explodes, and the headless body collapses to the ground.
Defeating the last visible Demon Clan, Tusi lets out a breath of filthy air, his vision darkens as he nearly faints.
Counting everything, he's taken down six Demon Clan alone, a feat unlikely matched by many in the entire rebel army.
However, as soon as he blinks, a strong dark figure suddenly appears in the once-empty view — there's still an unescaped Demon Clan!
"Oh no..."
Tusi braces against the wall, trying to keep himself from collapsing, but just standing drains all his energy, let alone continuing to fight such a Demon Clan.
Just looking at its back, you can tell it's super strong!
Wait a minute, the back?
He suddenly notices the Demon Clan ahead hasn't seen him and walks away deeper into the wall with its back to him.
This is a great chance to retreat. Turning and running now would certainly save his life.
But Tusi suddenly stops because the Demon Clan in front looks... familiar to him?
Clearly, he doesn't know any Demon Clan, yet this one evokes a sense of familiarity that compels him to move toward its location.
Just then, the Demon Clan finally senses his presence and slowly turns around.
Seeing the Demon Clan clearly, Tusi's body trembles violently, blurts out instinctively:
"Hen, Henry?"
The Demon Clan in front of him, nearly three meters tall and robust, has a head mixed with traits of many creatures, but the difference is half of its face remains human-like. Despite its twisted features, Tusi can still recognize it.
This is indeed Henry, one of Scameroon's local adventurers joining his team — he quite liked this guy!
In this instant, Tusi's mind clears completely.
Even though his mind isn't the sharpest, he can distinguish the significant event at hand, immediately recalling what has been troubling him.
"So, that's how the monsters inside the walls came to be...." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Suddenly, he roars in anger, eyes reddening, raises his fists and charges forward, shouting aloud: "Then let me send you off on your final journey!"
Yet, seemingly transformed from Henry, the Demon Clan swings its hand, sending him flying like a rag, crashing heavily to the ground and coughing blood.
"Cough ah!"
Tusi's vision falls into darkness, his consciousness irresistibly slides toward the abyss, about to pass out right there, while the Demon Clan strides toward him.
Is this it, will he really die at the hands of the Demon Clan?
Just as danger looms, a familiar figure appears, smashing a huge fist into the Demon Clan's face, forcing it back repeatedly, looking utterly dazed.
Tusi recognizes his rescuer's silhouette as another adventurer in his team, Martin, who came in alongside Henry.
Martin turns to glance at Tusi, then sprints towards him.
But what happens next is unseen by Tusi. He closes his eyes and falls into complete unconsciousness.
Before fully passing out, he hears Fingerley and the others' voices from behind — reinforcements have finally arrived at this moment.
Outside the walls, on the main battlefield of Hepa Town.
Demon Clan one after the other lose their mobility, tossed into a pit to gather, their bodies riddled with Invisible Rocks causing persistent damage, keeping them liquefied and immobilized at all times.
Those who resist till the end face diverse deaths in others' hands; the battlefield flashes with rainbow-colored effects, Demon Clan explodes into various artistic forms.
With the last active Demon Clan defeated, and the final immobilized one caged, the roar of battle over Hepa Town finally ceases.
The rebel army, having fought two consecutive battles, lets out a breath of relief. Many lie flat on the dirty ground from sheer exhaustion, immediately falling asleep.
By rights, the adventurers' state should be worse than the rebel army's, given they seamlessly switch between Sain Ancient City, Northern Undead Asylum, and Hepa Town's battlefields, fighting longer than the rebel army. If not for the bonfire aiding recovery, they might lack the strength to fight Demon Clan upon arrival.
Even now, some bewildered adventurers pass through the teleportation gate to Hepa Town. But these latecomers don't need immediate combat.
Battered and bruised, Hevi takes a deep breath, surveys the mess in Hepa Town, and loudly declares with amplification magic:
"We've won!"
