Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree
Chapter 740 - 712: Elementalization Test_2
Transformed into airflow, his speed reached an unimaginable realm.
Wherever his thoughts reached, his form could almost ignore inertia, performing near-teleportation-like warp and redirection, leaving behind fleeting trails of airflow in the air.
He could effortlessly pass through the most minute crevices, silently circle a target for reconnaissance, or instantly whip up a violent tornado, tossing enemies into the skies to be torn apart.
Physical attacks were almost ineffective against him, and ordinary energy attacks could easily be dispersed and diverted by the airflow.
The core of self-preservation, like the sand-shifting form, lies in dispersal and assimilation. Even if shattered by a powerful area attack, as long as a wisp of airflow remains, his consciousness can rely on it, swiftly reassembling his form by drawing in surrounding air.
In a place with an atmospheric environment, he is almost the immortal ghost of the wind.
Duke attentively perceived and recorded all data under the Wind Element form, continuing his tests.
The airflow suddenly contracted and solidified, its color becoming transparent with a faint, flowing light as Duke transformed into a constantly shifting, seemingly life-filled clear water mass.
His consciousness spread with each ripple of the water.
He could not only perceive motion on the water’s surface but also clearly touch the texture of soil and rocks soaked by the flow, and even, through water molecules, perceive minute changes in temperature and energy concentration.
This was a type of immersive, tactile, and conductive perception.
In his liquid form, he possessed extreme flexibility and adaptability. He could turn into trickling streams to penetrate underground, spread into thin water films covering vast areas, condense into rapidly spinning water drills for piercing, or raise towering waves for pounding.
Duke inherited the characteristics of water’s ultimate softness and firmness, able to shed most impact through flow and instantly convert kinetic energy into terrifying destructive power.
The self-preservation capability of the Water Element form remained formidable; even if partially evaporated, as long as the water mass where his core consciousness resided was not instantly vaporized or frozen entirely, he could swiftly replenish water from the environment, even directly drawing from enemy blood or plant sap for recovery. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
To fully explore the potential of Elementalization with the Water Element, with a single thought, Duke—this humanoid water element—flowed toward a waterside in the Divine Court, approximately the size of a large lake.
At the instant his Water Element form touched this body of water, change erupted.
The originally relatively independent, limited in scale Duke water mass suddenly merged like a drop into the ocean, instantly achieving a profound resonance and connection with the entire body of water.
His consciousness seemed to extend infinitely along the water flow, swiftly controlling every corner of the waterside.
The total quantity of the water became an extension of his body, his presence magnified, and his control grew exponentially.
On land, the water mass he transformed into is limited by his own energy and the speed of drawing water from the surroundings.
But here, the water from the entire lake is available for him to command.
He could easily raise waves over ten meters tall, condense into giant water punches comparable to small mountain peaks, and compress water flows into high-pressure water blades with terrifying penetration.
In a single thought, the entire lake surface can form complex whirlpools, tranquil mirrors, or boiling surges according to his will.
Above the lake surface, a complex three-dimensional water network instantly formed, capable of trapping enemies and conducting energy.
Duke could even disperse his core consciousness into countless droplets in a section of the lake, achieving true omnipresence, making it almost impossible for conventional attacks to annihilate all droplets in the lake simultaneously.
In this body of water, as long as his core consciousness doesn’t get completely removed or annihilated from all connected waters in one go, any partial consumption or damage can be instantly replenished from the surrounding nearly infinite water body.
To completely kill his Water Element form here is as difficult as evaporating the entire lake, moreover, he can continuously draw water from the earth’s depths and air to replenish the lake’s consumption.
Feeling the enormous enhancement obtained within the lake, Duke could easily deduce the kind of strength he would possess in a true ocean environment.
Endless water will become the source of his power, terrifying deep-sea pressure can be converted into a weapon, ocean currents can be the channels for his high-speed movement, the entire ocean’s ecosystem may serve as his ears and eyes and barrier.
In the ocean, he would no longer be a mere Water Element Mage but near to an oceanic embodiment capable of invoking part of the ocean’s might. His threat level and actual combat power under environmental amplification would far exceed the scope of ordinary Level 2 Mages.
Once testing was complete, Duke’s Water Element form rose from the lake, condensed, transformed back into human form, and lightly landed on the shore.
He gazed at the calm lake in front of him, with a deeper understanding of the Power of the Water Element in his eyes.
Next was the test of the Fire Element form; Duke transformed into a blazing, constantly leaping, pure flame with an exceedingly high core temperature.
Consciousness, light, and heat coexisted.
What he saw was a world composed of temperature gradients and energy radiation, where energy is abundant, where it’s cold and dead, where combustibles exist—all perfectly clear.
This was a type of perception based on heat and energy—a perception full of aggression.
His movement speed in the flame form might not match the wind, but his explosive power was extreme, capable of covering large areas instantly like an explosion.
He could directly ignite combustibles he came in contact with, release continuous high temperature radiations that char enemies, and condense into high-temperature fireballs or rays for precise strikes.
Physical attacks passing through flames are almost void, while Water Element or Ice Element attacks may constrain him somewhat, but if they cannot extinguish instantly, he can reignite from any spark.
The core of self-preservation lies in burning and transformation. As long as there’s a spark or enough heat source, he can use it to burn substances into a new flame body.
In environments with ample combustibles or energy sources, he is the eternally reborn flame of destruction.
Thus far, the tests of Wind, Earth, Water, and Fire Elements all completed, and Duke meticulously recorded his findings.
These are still very rudimentary forms of elemental usage; further in-depth research is required to develop more ways to harness his abilities.
Finally, it’s time for the Light and Darkness forms, the most unique among the elemental forms.
Generally, Elemental Mages involve Wind, Earth, Water, and Fire elements, with occasional exceptions for other special elements.
But Light and Darkness Element Mages are exceedingly rare; these elements are often linked with more abstract rules, faiths, life essences, and even certain higher existences, and those compatible are scarce—succeeding in enhancing to Elemental Mage with these cores is even rarer.
At least up to now, Duke has never personally seen a pure Light or Darkness Element Mage.
He wonders how different it will be once he adopts the Light and Darkness forms.
Duke’s silhouette seemed illuminated from every cell by an internal burst of radiance.
His outline became blurred, transparent, and ultimately transformed into a pure, dazzling, humanoid light mass constantly radiating gentle yet undeniable brilliance outward.
Vision disappeared, or rather, was replaced by a more fundamental sense of information perception.
He no longer relied on light reflection for imaging but directly perceived the reflection, absorption, refraction, and scattering characteristics of all objects in the environment concerning light and their feeble energy emissions.
The world in his eyes transformed into an abstract yet vividly real model composed of different brightness, spectrums, and information flows.
Darkness couldn’t obstruct him; energy flow paths were clearly visible.
At the moment of Light Elementalization, the most direct sensation was speed.
An extreme sense of speed where his thoughts almost couldn’t chase the body’s reaction; with a minor thought, he attempted to cross a vast plain within the Divine Court.
No sound of wind, no sonic boom, no apparent moving trajectory.
In the next moment of slight flickering of the light mass’s original spot, his form had appeared on the other end of the plain.
The entire process was so quick it seemed like spatial jumping, yet actually, he did move across at a bewildering speed.
However, Duke was acutely aware that while this speed far exceeded a typical Level 2 and might astound many Level 3 Mages, in comparison to true light speed, it was still enormously far off, slow as a snail.
