Working in a Zoo with Beast Taming System
Chapter 132 - 123: Xiaojiu’s Show Time
Time trickled by in anxious anticipation. As the early morning hours arrived, everything fell silent.
The operation began.
Yang Qi brought Xiaojiu along, boarding a disguised command vehicle with Xiao Jun and a few key technicians. They slowly drove out of the abandoned factory, approaching the Kangda factory.
Wang Mengguo was stationed at the temporary command post in the rear abandoned factory, directing the entire operation via encrypted communications.
The command vehicle stopped in the shadow of a dense thicket a few hundred meters from the target factory.
This was the very edge of the signal reception range and also a secure, concealed observation point.
Inside the vehicle, a technical officer took out specialized micro-devices.
A button-sized, ultra-high-definition night-vision camera, and a nearly invisible bone-conduction micro-earpiece.
Yang Qi gestured to Xiaojiu.
Xiaojiu sat quietly.
The technical officer, with gentle and swift movements, secured the camera to the center of Xiaojiu’s brow with a special bio-adhesive fastener and carefully placed the micro-earpiece into its ear.
Xiaojiu remained perfectly still throughout the entire process. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
The equipment was connected and the signal tested.
Everything was ready.
Yang Qi patted Xiaojiu’s head, slid open the command vehicle’s side door, and gave Xiaojiu a decisive "go" signal.
"Xiaojiu, go!"
"Infiltrate the factory ahead. First, get a clear layout, then focus on investigating any areas with lights or activity. Stay hidden. Safety first."
Yang Qi used his "Basic Spirit Communication Technique" to issue the clear commands.
"Meow~"
’Understood.’
Xiaojiu responded with a meow and leaped gracefully from the vehicle, its paws landing silently. With a few nimble bounds, it melted into the night, darting straight for the nearby target.
Xiao Jun and the others immediately gathered around the screen, holding their breath.
The view on the screen shifted rapidly as Xiaojiu raced forward—
past thorny weeds, crumbling concrete walls, and under rusted metal pipes...
Xiaojiu’s chosen route was nothing short of perfect. It stuck to the shadows, avoided areas directly lit by the moon, and moved with astonishing speed, yet was as silent as a phantom.
"This stealth technique is unreal."
A technical officer couldn’t help but whisper in admiration.
"It really is incredible. More professional than some of our trained scouts."
Xiao Jun also sighed with sincere admiration, his gaze toward Yang Qi filled with respect.
In the rear command post, Wang Mengguo stared at the feed coming in on a split screen. A hint of approval crossed his tense face as he spoke quietly into the communicator.
"Advisor Yang, your cat has really been an eye-opener for us. Impressive!"
Yang Qi simply gave a slight nod. His eyes never left the screen, his focus entirely on Xiaojiu’s every move, ready to react to any unexpected situation.
Soon, the closed, spike-topped, wrought-iron gate of the Kangda factory appeared on the screen.
The guardhouse was lit, and a figure could be seen moving about inside.
"Xiaojiu, avoid the main gate and the guard’s line of sight. Find a remote corner to get in," Yang Qi instructed softly into the walkie-talkie.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Xiaojiu moved quickly along the base of the wall, soon reaching an area on the factory’s side that was piled with discarded building materials and overgrown with weeds.
The wall here was relatively low, and at its base, the iron grate of a drainage outlet appeared to be rusted and bent, leaving a narrow gap.
Xiaojiu barely paused. It contracted its body and slipped through the gap like flowing water, entering the factory grounds.
Seeing Xiaojiu’s successful infiltration, everyone in the command vehicle and the rear command post subconsciously held their breath and stopped talking.
On the screen, the camera began to pan smoothly across the factory grounds.
At night, most of the factory was dormant, with only a few lonely streetlights casting a dim, yellow glow.
The factory buildings were pitch-black voids, their doors and windows shut tight, completely lifeless.
"Xiaojiu, stay hidden. Follow the inside of the perimeter wall," Yang Qi continued to issue commands.
Xiaojiu acted as instructed.
Its small body and light steps allowed it to dart quickly through the shadows.
The office area, the raw materials warehouse, the general workshops...
It sped past one building after another. These areas were all pitch-black with nothing out of the ordinary, and the surveillance cameras were mostly installed along the main paths and entrances.
As Xiaojiu circled to the deeper part of the factory grounds, passed a row of low-rise buildings that looked like staff dormitories or storage rooms, and turned toward the area closer to the foot of the mountain in the back...
The image on the screen suddenly changed!
