World Evolution Apocalypse: I Possess The Extraction Ability
Chapter 5: Head to the Field House
Under Leon’s lead, the ten students carefully navigated the campus, heading to the building with the highest possibility of safety.
Leon didn’t go out of his way to bring down zombies that didn’t notice them.
He only focused on those that were blocking their path, killing them swiftly before they could cause any damage and attract other zombies.
"So strong!"
The scholarly student exclaimed in his heart, watching as Leon easily decapitated zombies as if they were fishes on a chopping board.
The other students felt similar emotions, looking at his small back with awe.
If they had the courage to fight like that, then they probably wouldn’t have ended up so miserable.
Unaware of their thoughts, Leon kept his gaze focused and his senses alert.
’Buildings with windows won’t work. Mutated beasts can definitely infiltrate through the windows. That means we’ll have to stay somewhere like... the Field House.’
His eyes immediately lit up, and his goal became clear.
The Field House was a recreational sports center built like a dome. It had windows but they were few and only on the upper side.
’It’s definitely better than the dormitories.’
Suddenly, he frowned, hearing a buzzing sound in the air. It wasn’t faint, as everyone could hear it.
Leon’s expression changed, and he looked up in shock. A large housefly the size of a bicycle was flying straight at them, its mouth bloated as if it wanted to spray something.
’!!!’
Alert, Leon shouted to the students. "All of you huddle together and step back."
They quickly complied, even though some of them wanted to turn and flee. Suddenly seeing a gigantic housefly wasn’t a pleasant experience.
Leon’s eyes flashed with resolve, and he used his darkness manipulation ability again.
His shadow, along with the shadows of the students poured forward like liquid, then rose to the sky, solidifying to form a black wall several meters tall.
Beside him, Thyra’s brows rose in surprise.
’He’s really intelligent and skilled. I can’t believe it.’
She had never seen any human get this proficient in using their abilities at the beginning of the apocalypse.
The mutated fly spat a mouthful of green acid at the students, but the wall blocked it firmly.
Even then, the black wall quickly crumbled, corroded by the acidic substance.
The mutated housefly clearly wasn’t expecting it, so its movement halted briefly, and that was the reason for its demise.
The moment the wall he had created crumbled, Leon threw the red spear with all his strength, letting it streak through the air sharply.
The mutated fly couldn’t react as its body was pierced and it fell from the sky.
[You have slain a Level 15 Mutated Poison Housefly! +5 Mana points gained!]
[You have leveled up to Level 9! +6 Stat points gained!]
Feeling the refreshing energy that was sucked into him, Leon breathed a sigh. Although he hadn’t wanted to waste mana to create that darkness shield, he had no other choice.
He was confident he could dodge the poison by himself, but the students behind him were a different matter.
And even if they scattered and ran, that would only let them be easier preys for the zombies to pick off. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Approaching the mutated insect’s corpse, he pulled out his spear from its body, seeing it covered in dark green blood.
Just as he expected, there was a scroll beside the corpse. Without checking it, he directly tossed it into his bag, then resumed his journey.
The ten students followed behind him silently, marveling at the mysterious powers he had shown. Everything felt magical and looked like a fantasy.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t just an imagination. This was what the world had become. The creatures who were weak would definitely perish at the hands of other creatures that were strong.
After killing the mutated insect and several other zombies, Leon frowned faintly.
Although he was growing strong, he also felt uneasy. That mutated fly had already become Level 15 so fast. How many people had it killed?
Before he could think deeply, he heard a wild roar in the distance, and turned to the source.
Not far away, a young lady and a young man we’re fighting against a car-sized black dog that looked menacing.
Behind the two students were around eighteen other students who could only look on and watch helplessly. After all, they were normal humans and couldn’t fight something that terrifying.
The girl had an icy expression as she summoned icicles out of thin air and shot them at the dog.
The mutated dog was fast, evading most of her attacks. Only one icicle pierced its hind leg, freezing its muscles slightly.
The mutated dog was slowed as it tried to shake off the frost. However, the young man with handsome looks immediately shot forward, raising his sword and slashing at the creature’s neck.
His sword erupted with lightning, and a deep gash appeared on the dog’s neck.
It howled in pain and immediately turned around to run, but the frosty girl intercepted it and shot a larger icicle straight at its head.
The beast was pierced and instantly died, falling to the ground with a thud.
The young man rushed up to it and picked up a few items, then walked back to give them to the girl.
It was at this moment that the two students finally noticed Leon’s group coming close.
Surprise and wariness flashed in their eyes, but they waited until Leon and the others were close enough.
Only when Leon got closer did he get a better view of the girl and the boy.
The beautiful girl had shoulder-length silver hair and sharp blue eyes that seemed to freeze one’s soul. Her expression was so cold that it made one wonder if she was an ice statue.
However, her face was exquisite and beautiful, her skin smooth and flawless. Yet, although her expression was as cold as ice, her body was hot like the sun, filled with curves in the right places and extremely attractive.
The young man was also extremely handsome, having curly brown hair and gentle brown eyes. Unlike his partner, he had a warm smile on his face, giving people a sense of security and friendliness.
The three sized each other up, then Leon spoke up.
"Selene White and Reymond Trump."
He recognized the two of them, as they were the University Student Union President and Vice President respectively.
Anyone in the university would recognize the two of them. Selene was popular for her beauty and great intelligence, always on first class in every semester.
As for Reymond, he was the same, only lagging behind her as the second most intelligent student on campus.
The guy smiled and stretched out his hand for a handshake.
"You know us. And you are...?"
Seeing the red spear covered in green blood, it was easy to deduce that Leon was the leader of his group. Therefore, Reymond felt a bit of respect and admiration for him.
Leon looked at the outstretched hand for a moment, then ignored it. It wasn’t the right time for unnecessary pleasantries. Reymond smiled bitterly and withdrew his hand.
"I’m Leon."
Looking past the two of them and seeing the other students gathered, he asked without hesitation.
"Considering that our paths intersected, are you also heading to the Field House?"
