World Evolution Apocalypse: I Possess The Extraction Ability
Chapter 59: Level 25!
The mutated cat stood up and walked around Richard slowly. A black tattoo mark in the shape of an arrow passing through a ring appeared on its head like a seal.
Richard stood up from his crouching position and said to the beast, "Sit."
The cat that was as big as a tiger listened to him and sat down obediently. This confirmed that the beast had been successfully tamed. Also, Richard could see a new panel added to his status window.
[Tamed Beasts - 1/5]
Turning to Leon, he said with a smile. "Boss, it’s a success."
Leon glanced at the cat, nodded, then rolled his shoulders. "Good."
The others walked over and stared at the tamed mutated cat in surprise. Captain Jester had a look of disbelief on his face.
"You tamed it? How?"
Before Richard could decide how to answer him, Lieutenant Zhong elbowed him slightly. "It is obviously an ability. You’re just too old."
The man’s eyes lit up, and he nodded. "Ahh, right. I should have known."
Smiling, he began walking towards the doors of the warehouse. With a bit of force, he pushed it open and stepped inside. The warehouse was dark, but light still entered through the broken windows. Bringing out a torchlight from her storage ring, Lieutenant Zhong turned it on for them to get a better view. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Leon was surprised that she had one, but he didn’t let it show on his face. Walking beside him, Thyra said in a low voice.
"Hm, since she has one, that means the Star Stream has started distributing the lower storage rings to your world."
Leon nodded faintly, then examined the interior of the building.
The warehouse was larger than he expected. Rows of metal shelves stretched into the distance, stacked with wooden crates marked with faded police insignias. Dust coated the floor, and the stale smell of oil and gunpowder lingered in the air.
"Jackpot," Miguel muttered with a light grin on his lips.
Captain Jester walked to one of the crates and pried it open with his monstrous strength. The lid came loose with a sharp crack, allowing them to see its contents.
Inside, rows of ammunition boxes were packed neatly together.
"Nine-millimeter rounds," Lauren said, picking one up. "Standard sidearm ammunition."
Several more crates nearby held different types of ammunition. Some were filled with 12-gauge shotgun shells, their red casings stacked in neat columns. Others contained boxes of 5.56 NATO rounds intended for patrol rifles and tactical units.
Reymond whistled. "That’s... a lot."
"It is," Captain Jester agreed. "Enough to keep a police department supplied for a very long time."
A few meters away, Felix’s men forced open another crate. Unlike the ammunition crates, this one contained weapons. Black pistols rested inside foam-lined compartments, each wrapped in protective plastic. Another crate held pump-action shotguns, their matte metal surfaces gleaming under the warehouse lights. Further down the row were several patrol rifles arranged side by side, accompanied by spare magazines and cleaning kits.
Gwen crouched beside one of the crates and examined a rifle.
"These are in excellent condition."
"Because they’ve barely been touched," Lieutenant Zhong replied curtly, holding a Glock 17 in her hand.
Nearby, Leon opened a separate crate and found stacks of magazines, tactical holsters, body armor, helmets, and spare weapon parts. For the first time since the apocalypse began, he felt a renewed appreciation for modern weaponry.
With this amount of equipment, dealing with ordinary zombies would become far easier.
’If only they could work on Tier One Evolved...’
He chuckled as his imagination went wild. However, he knew that was impossible. At best, the bullets would only annoy or irritate a Tier One Evolved.
"Alright. Let’s pack up," Captain Jester spoke loudly. "Lauren, take your guys and go bring the vehicles over. We should be able to transport them all at once."
"True." Felix said, cocking a gun and shooting it into the air.
Bang!
The gunshot echoed violently through the warehouse, making several people instinctively duck.
"Was that necessary, Felix?" Captain Jester asked in a stern tone, displeased.
The tattooed gang leader rolled his eyes and put down the gun. "Come on, cut me some slack. I’m not doing anything bad."
Some distance away, Leon closed the crate he was observing, then thought to himself.
’I still haven’t reached Level 25. But I can tell that I only need a little bit more push.’
He glanced at Richard’s tamed beast, then nodded to himself. ’Well, we successfully got a tamed beast. This will surely add to our team’s combat power.’
In his mind, he was already making a plan. A plan second only to reuniting with Clara. Since Thyra had already told him that the apocalypse had different phases, he needed to prepare for the second phase even though it was nowhere close.
’Build a proper faction, control the camp, and ensure we’re strong enough for whatever is coming in the second phase—easy peasy.’
The sound of engines revving entered his ears, and he looked up to see Lauren and the other officers driving the armored vehicles into the warehouse.
One of Felix’s gang members had followed them and manned the last car, bringing it into the warehouse alongside the others.
Then, the loading began. They stocked the ammunition into the boots of the vehicles, loading them to the brim.
After the warehouse had been emptied out, they got into their respective vehicles and drove out, making their way back to the camp.
Richard wanted to bring his tamed beast along in the vehicle, but there wasn’t enough space to contain it so he could only let it chase after their car.
As they drove back, Leon sat beside the driver’s seat, staring outside with a melancholic expression. He still remembered how these streets looked like before the world was turned upside down.
Now, everywhere was filled with corpses and bloodstains, ruined cars, and collapsed buildings.
It was really an apocalypse.
Seeing a zombie stupidly try to walk into a wall, Leon made a shadow spear from the darkness of the alley and sent it straight at the zombie’s head.
He didn’t get to see the zombie crumple to the ground, as they already drove past it. However, he did see a message. In fact, he saw messages.
