Zombie Bodyguard
Chapter 1767 - 1764: Let Me Tell You a Story
Xiao Manxue also set down the Hua Ying Sword, but her expression was full of grievance: "Lin Tian, you actually yelled at me for her..."
Come on, I yelled at both of you together, didn’t I, Miss? Lin Tian was speechless; the usually calm Miss was now acting unreasonably.
But the next second, Lin Tian was stunned. Tears welled up in Miss’s eyes, two drops rolling down her cheeks, her aggrieved look tugging at Lin Tian’s heart.
Miss turned around, ran upstairs without looking back, and the trail of tears she left behind made Lin Tian’s heart tremble again; it looked like Miss was really hurt.
"Sister..." Xiao Manxuan called softly and followed her up.
Outside, Zhou Botong and several others were dumbfounded. Such an arrogant and cold female CEO actually cried—all because of this man, Lin Tian.
Lin Tian turned to look at Charlotte; she put away her dagger, standing silently, the stubborn look causing a headache.
"Sit properly, don’t run around without my permission!" Lin Tian didn’t know what else to say, so he threw down those words and followed up the stairs.
After Charlotte sat for a while, Zhou Botong and the others cautiously entered, but none dared to approach, merely sitting on the other side of the living room.
Lin Tian chased the Xiao sisters, all the way up to the third floor, where he saw the two running into a room one after the other, and he rushed in without looking.
Miss was already standing on the outside balcony, while Xiao Manxuan softly comforted her beside, but Miss remained silent.
Seeing Lin Tian come in, Xiao Manxuan walked over with a small voice: "Lin Tian, what’s up with that Charlotte? Comfort sister a bit, she... really cares about you."
"You’re not angry?" Lin Tian was somewhat surprised; the little girl was much calmer than her sister.
Logically, it should be Second Miss causing trouble, while Miss remained calm; this time, it was the opposite.
Xiao Manxuan blinked and revealed a pure smile: "Because I trust you; although I don’t know what happened and you didn’t say, I believe you must have a reason."
Upon hearing this, Lin Tian’s heart was shaken, with a sudden impulse wanting to pull the little girl close for some tender affection. Of course, that’s impossible; doing that in front of Miss would surely cause the female CEO to explode again.
Miss also heard her sister’s words, secretly glanced back at Lin Tian, but quickly turned to avoid letting him see.
"Thank you." Lin Tian sincerely said.
The little girl looked up at Lin Tian and smiled faintly: "Don’t worry, try to comfort sister well; she appears cold but is actually a very kind-hearted and fervent person and will be reasonable."
Lin Tian felt bitterly amused inside; if Miss could be reasonable, the sun might rise in the west. The little girl patted Lin Tian’s shoulder and then went out, her serious demeanor making Lin Tian smile knowingly.
"You go out too." Xiao Manxue hummed softly.
Relying on his thick-skinned advantage, Lin Tian acted as if he didn’t hear this and still walked onto the balcony. When a woman is angry, most of the words are opposite; if a man doesn’t understand, that’s when he truly provokes her.
"Miss, you might not know, but this is my room." Lin Tian stood beside the female CEO, smiling slightly.
Lin Tian wasn’t lying; this was his guest room, and Miss didn’t come down earlier, so she didn’t know, ran into this room in a daze, which turned out to be a mistake.
Xiao Manxue was taken aback, and then her face reddened with shame, not daring to look at Lin Tian, turning to leave.
Lin Tian did not speak to stop her, only watched her back as Xiao Manxue walked a few steps, feeling increasingly strange that Lin Tian did not hold her back.
Based on past actions, Lin Tian would undoubtedly pull her back forcefully, and she was prepared for it, yet Lin Tian remained motionless.
"Why... why aren’t you stopping me?" Xiao Manxue turned and looked at Lin Tian.
Lin Tian did not answer her question but merely said calmly: "Miss, if you’re willing, I’d like to tell you a story."
"What story?" Xiao Manxue was puzzled for a moment, then walked back to stand beside Lin Tian.
The night sea breeze blew in, brushing their faces, bringing a slight chill but refreshing their spirits.
Lin Tian gazed at the endless night sky, his deep eyes seemingly trying to penetrate the universe. Xiao Manxue was shaken by Lin Tian’s gaze, feeling she saw something, yet nothing was clear.
"Do you know Charlotte’s identity? I don’t mean her role as Bale Bank’s owner." Lin Tian asked softly.
Xiao Manxue frowned and said: "Although I don’t want to believe it, based on her last performance, she’s a member of the Blood Clan from the Western world; while studying at Holy Spirit Royal Girls’ College, I learned about the Blood Clan."
"Then you must know about Cain?" Lin Tian asked again.
"She’s a descendant of the Blood Clan’s ancestor, Cain? But that’s not right; all Blood Clan members are considered Cain’s descendants." Xiao Manxue was somewhat puzzled.
Lin Tian shook his head and laughed: "That’s both accurate and not; Charlotte is a true bloodline descendant of Cain. Before Cain became the Blood Clan’s ancestor and was still an ordinary person, he had descendants, some of whom survived, living as ordinary people in this world."
Xiao Manxue looked astonished but didn’t interrupt Lin Tian, who continued: "These surviving descendants formed a family, an ordinary family, and Charlotte was born into such a family. Initially, she was just a mortal."
"She was just a girl who dreamed and fantasized, but disaster struck her family. For some reason, the Blood Clan started hunting her family, forcing all members to flee. But the pursuit didn’t stop, and family members died daily."
"Life, aging, illness, and death are the most common occurrences in nature, but death came to this family in an abnormal way. The Blood Clan eventually detected their fleeing trail and surrounded them in the woods, then set fire to the whole forest."
Upon hearing this, Xiao Manxue’s heart tightened, showing both worry and anger toward those arsonist Blood Clan members.
"They..." Xiao Manxue asked but couldn’t bear to finish the sentence.
Lin Tian laughed grimly, his voice deep: "That’s right. All of Charlotte’s family members were burned alive—all those people, men, women, the elderly, children... Even though mothers desperately shielded the flames with their bodies to protect the children they held, even infants, against the flames, all efforts were futile."
"The ruthless flames first scorched their bodies, then the children they held. Fire filled the sky, the cracking of wood burning echoed throughout the forest, along with screams and children’s cries..."
At this point, Lin Tian paused, his expression cold and threatening.
