Zombie Bodyguard
Chapter 1771 - 1768: Sinister Intentions
Lin Tian wasn’t concerned about Liu Xiong’s company’s collapse, but he had to know whether the ones in the shadows were friends or foes.
"Master, think about it, so many scandals broke overnight, and there was concrete evidence leading to Liu Xiong’s listed company’s stock price plummeting. If it weren’t for an insider, could there be so much evidence?" Charlotte retorted.
An insider? Lin Tian’s heart stirred, and he suddenly said, "Bitong?"
"Master is really smart, it’s Bitong. She holds evidence of many scandals involving Liu Xiong, evidence even Liu Xiong himself doesn’t know about. It’s truly laughable," Charlotte laughed.
"No way, Bitong’s backing is Liu Xiong; she’s also the top actress of Octagonal Entertainment. Why would she throw these scandals out? That would be self-destructive career-wise," Lin Tian still couldn’t quite figure it out. Given Bitong’s ruthless nature, she could definitely do such a thing, but her career was more important to her.
"Bitong’s current backing is Li Wenrong, the Li Family. After what happened yesterday, Liu Xiong went into a rage and has stopped all of Bitong’s performances and commercial ads. This is equivalent to shelving and banning her. Bitong certainly won’t accept this and thus sold the scandal evidence to her new backing, Li Wenrong, the Li Family."
"If the Li Family wants to take action against Liu Xiong, it’s not a simple affair; everyone associated with Liu Xiong can only remain silent, hastily severing ties. Adding to the fact that Liu Xiong has offended so many people, it naturally leads to them capitalizing on his misfortune. Help from all sides in times of trouble; that’s exactly him," Charlotte chuckled lightly.
Lin Tian also laughed and said, "Indeed, it’s a world of surprises. Initially, it was just a few trivial matters, but in the end, it caused the collapse of an entertainment industry giant. If Liu Xiong knew the whole story afterwards, he’d probably be so furious he’d spit blood."
As he hung up the call, Zhou Botong and the others were dumbfounded. Through Lin Tian’s call, they already knew what happened.
"Bitong is indeed ruthless and merciless, turning around to buy her own boss," Ou Mengmeng remarked.
"Isn’t she afraid Liu Xiong will retaliate against her?" Xiao Manxuan asked.
Lin Tian smiled and analyzed, "A company like his probably has a high debt ratio, like pulling a fast one by borrowing money from the bank to make money. The bank loves these big companies borrowing money, earning interest. But once the company collapses and goes bankrupt, Liu Xiong’s assets immediately turn negative." 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
"From a millionaire to a debtor, who would listen to him? Moreover, he has to consider if any enemies might retaliate against him and his son. With two such arrogant individuals, they must have offended quite a few people. Previously, smaller companies didn’t dare to touch him. Now that he’s bankrupt, who’s afraid of him? Those who bear grudges can quickly take revenge," Lin Tian chuckled.
"Enough about others, let’s hurry up and have breakfast, or we’ll miss the jewelry exhibition entry ceremony," Xiao Manxuan reminded.
Everyone continued chatting while eating breakfast. Once finished and ready to leave, it was already past nine, and the usual activities had begun.
The jewelry exhibition venue was located in a pearl-shaped building next to the restaurant; the layout probably intended for hungry exhibitors to easily find food.
When Lin Tian and his group arrived at the Pearl Building, entry had been underway for some time. Those who watched the show last night were mostly attending the jewelry exhibition today, so there were many people, but the entry process was orderly.
These were all people with status, such as oil tycoons, shipping magnates, tech company big shots, family heads, even members of some national royal families, and many big-name celebrities.
These people are potential consumers of jewelry. They are characterized by having plenty of money and not minding expensive things, but rather disliking things that aren’t good enough.
"Every piece of jewelry at the exhibition is unique, which exactly caters to the mindset of the big shots," Zhou Botong remarked, having recently been involved in the jewelry business and knowing the intricacies well.
"I heard there was once an auction where two bottles of precious red wine were sold at a sky-high price, but the winner deliberately smashed one bottle upon receiving it. The remaining bottle became the sole one, its value instantly multiplying. The spending psychology of wealthy people is unimaginable to the average person," Lin Tian laughed.
As a group stood outside chatting and laughing, a group approached from afar. An elderly gentleman led the way, wearing a tailored black suit, holding a rustic wooden cane, with gold-rimmed glasses. His hair was gray but meticulously groomed.
As they walked, everyone they encountered nodded slightly in acknowledgment. The elderly gentleman reciprocated each gesture politely, maintaining a warm smile on his face, exuding aristocratic elegance.
Ou Qinglan walked alongside the elderly gentleman, guiding him, followed by several blonde and blue-eyed foreigners, mostly young people. Yet, each walked quietly, refraining from making noise, perfectly embodying noble etiquette.
"If I’m not mistaken, this elderly gentleman must be the Old Earl from England?" Lin Tian speculated.
Ou Mengmeng smiled and replied, "That’s right, Count Carlos, with royal family blood, a hereditary noble. Although England’s royal family is only symbolic, there’s still status, and Count Carlos’s family is very wealthy due to good management."
"A royal family with wealth and status; no wonder the scene is so grand," Lin Tian replied coolly.
"Brother Lin Tian, don’t be fooled by the Old Earl’s graceful demeanor and aristocratic style, but if what you’re saying about the Eye of the Creator’s curse is true, he probably isn’t bringing the Stone out with good intentions, perhaps trying to pass the curse to others," Zhou Botong dismissed.
Lin Tian patted Zhou Botong’s shoulder without saying anything; he had long considered this point. The Old Earl wouldn’t lack the money for a black diamond, so why keep it around and take such a risk? Better to gift it away and gain a good reputation, since many don’t believe in curses.
Led by Ou Qinglan, the Old Earl and his entourage entered the Pearl Building with a large group following behind, as Lin Tian and a few others also entered with the flow.
The jewelry exhibition was set up in a large showroom on the third floor. Although there were many elevators, they clearly weren’t enough for such usage; many had to use the stairs, including Lin Tian’s group. It seemed Ou Qinglan had also considered this issue, so the venue wasn’t set too high.
Entering the showroom, the first thing in sight was a series of display cases, each not large, just enough to hold the jewelry boxes. Every display case was covered with a bulletproof glass dome. Under the lights, they refracted enchanting beams; this scene held tremendous allure for women.
Even Ou Mengmeng, this carefree woman, found her eyes lighting up at the sight of countless jewelry. Despite being a wealthy beauty, having seen plenty of jewelry, she might not own the pieces inside the showroom. Each one is unique, with some jewelry even more famous than the Eye of the Creator, like the Heart of the Ocean.
These much-discussed jewels are worth billions of euros, and still might not be available for purchase.
