Chapter 564: New Farm Residents [I]

It’s been a while since Elaina heard from her sister, Selena. The last time she saw her sister was when she tried to cause chaos and destroy her farm by colluding with the Fallen God Tanolichkaz and using the army of the Luminiera Kingdom to wage war with the Darcero Kingdom. After their defeat, she no longer has any information on where she is right now and what she has been doing after the incident.

And now that she has finally moved on from that battle, the God of Farming decided to drop a bombshell of news to her that her sister is, in fact, still alive and has ascended to demigod status as a result. Whatever happened after the end of the war caused her to ascend to divinity.

"Does that mean Selena will ascend to godhood in the future?"

"[Very possible if no one questions her and she continues to become dangerous. In fact, her status has been verified by the Gods, not too long ago, to be potentially harmful in the future, as she not only managed to receive qualifications to become one, but she is also quite compatible with what she will be governing if she becomes a god.]"

"That sounded dangerous... Does that mean the Gods are going to take action?" Elaina asked.

"[No, they can’t. As mentioned in the past, gods can’t kill god candidates, demigods, and even other gods themselves, as that is a big taboo no matter what. So even if she is a potential danger, that doesn’t mean we can immediately smite her down. As usual, a god slayer and humans are the only ones who can effectively fight them. Gods can assist, but they can’t directly bring harm to them, or else the Gods who will break the heavenly law will immediately be stripped of their qualifications, and their divinity will slowly be corrupted.]"

"I am not liking the sound of that..." Elaina frowned.

"[Neither do I. I know the trouble she caused in the past. And from the looks of it, colluding with a Fallen God and successfully gaining the capability to become a Demigod is dangerous. However, at the moment, we have no way to intervene. And as much as I want to also find them for you, it seems the Fallen God has used some of his powers to conceal their location and presence. Wherever they are, they are slowly gaining powers that will become troublesome in the future. I highly suggest that you also prepare, Elaina.]"

"What can I even do? The only thing I can use is my sword and my swordsmanship. Other than that, I don’t have much, and most of the stuff I know is all about farming and nothing else. What else do you want me to do?"

"[Leveling up your Almanac. After all, you are a farmer for the Gods. You are following and receiving our blessings one by one, slowly, but surely. I suggest you focus first on the farm, expand, collaborate, and improve your skills related to farming. Sooner or later, you might even be able to handle things that only we gods handle. In short, be qualified and become someone who will allow you to win without fighting.]"

Elaina scratches her head. How does winning without fighting even work? She is not sure what is going on. However, she prefers not to fight at all and would rather use her sword against monsters instead of using it to fight against her sister.

"If that is the case, then I will do my best. I know my growth in the farm seems to have slowed down a lot due to the unforeseen circumstances that keep popping up. But since many things have been resolved so far, I think it is safe to go and move with my farm and focus on expanding the Almanac’s power."

"[Good to know. Anyways, for the Golden Crops, I will be handling them for some time. You don’t need to worry about it for now. Once I gain the information needed for these variants, I will let you know right away.]"

Elaina nodded. After the little discussion with the God of Farming, Elaina hit the hay for the day. Tomorrow, she will focus her attention on the Almanac, and no one will be stopping her about this.

...

...

...

The next day, Elaina prepares herself to level up the Almanac and raise its capabilities. One of the things that is on the verge of leveling up soon would be the Taming capabilities and, of course, the farming capabilities. Elaina still has no idea what capabilities she will receive once she levels them both up. She knows it will be related to the two skills, but she hopes it will be something useful.

On the other hand, the Fishing and Medicine capabilities are still growing. Although they are not yet on the verge of leveling up, they are slowly gaining traction. It won’t be long before both of them will be leveling up.

The Cooking skill is not doing much, as Elaina has yet to cook that much. She has a few recipes in mind to cook, but she has not gotten the chance so far. As for the music skill...Elaina has no idea what she will do with it. She only managed to unlock it due to the fact that she was using it to learn the song written for the harmonica. Elaina is not sure whether she will get another chance to even showcase or level it up to the next level.

Since Taming skills are about to level up soon, Elaina is now thinking of looking for a creature she can tame. A creature that would be useful for the farm but is considered wild and a monster...Elaina is not sure if there are any more similar to that.

While Elaina is in deep thought, she suddenly hears the scream of the children. Right now, they aren’t exploring the mines as they wanted to wait for Mier to recover and decided to also use the time to lay low and relax for the time being. So for them to be screaming, something might have happened.

Quickly taking her sword, she rushes towards where the children are playing. They are near the artificial tree that became the beehive of the bees. Although the bees are monsters, they have been tamed, and so far, they haven’t done any attacks. They are even willing to get approached by the kids from time to time, which makes the kids happy, as they can taste honey for free if they play there. But if it isn’t the bees, what caused those children to scream?

"What happened, children?!" Elaina arrives at the area and looked at the area, looking for the kids.

What she saw was both Arthur and Raye, holding their wooden swords, which they are using to spar, and they are both in combat stance while their eyes are fixed on the top of the tree. As for the girls, it seems that they are not fully afraid, but they are indeed surprised. Adelaide is ready to cast magic as well while shielding the others.

Upon Elaina’s arrival, the boys quickly alerted Elaina.

"Mom! We just saw a huge spider living at the top of the tree!" Arthur reported without removing his eyes from the top of the tree.

"A spider? Aren’t spiders supposed to live in trees like this? Why are you all looking tense?" Elaina frowned.

"Well, if the spider were regular, we would have understood and wouldn’t care much...but this one is different. It’s a giant spider," Raye looked serious.

"Giant? Not big, but giant?" Elaina also looked up to see what the boys were talking about.

At first, she didn’t see anything as the treetop was dark with the thick leaves of the tree. But then, multiple red eyes appeared, staring back at them. They are big. Two of them are as big as a beach ball, while the other smaller red eyes are as big as a small pomelo. Those eyes are something that small and big spiders shouldn’t own. Those eyes are too big.

Seeing this, Elaina quickly readies her sword. No way she will let something befall her family against a spider. She is ready to cut down this monster. Not only will this be dangerous for her family, but it might also cause harm to the bees, which might be part of the spider’s diet. The fact that she is not seeing any bees going out of the hive is enough reason to know that they are hiding from a predator.

"Step back, children, let me handle this," Elaina said to the boys.

The boys understood this and made some space for Elaina. Elaina grips the handle of her sword, ready, and she assumes a battle stance.

"Come out, you big spider. If you don’t come out, I will cut you down where you are hiding."

Elaina is ready to fight against a monster as soon as possible, but before she can even attack, the spider, all of a sudden, drops a web. As for the web, it dropped down...it is in the shape of a paper, and on that paper are a few letters that seem to attempt to communicate.

"I come in peace."
