Threads are considered a luxury, especially if they are not the traditional thread made from linen, wool, and cotton. Elaina has materials for making threads, but she doesn’t have the tools that would be capable of turning them into one. Which is why, if the spider is capable of creating synthetic silk without the need for tools to convert materials into threads, then she would be very happy to have a spider like this on the farm.

Although excited over the prospects that the spider can bring to them, Elaina quickly adapts her serious and transactional face as a way to make herself convincing. It is the first step of what she always does when doing transactions or making a business proposal.

"Well, if you are indeed a peaceful spider without the intent to become a dangerous monster, then I am not selfish enough to stop you. Still, can you promise me that you will not be harming my bees and eating them? As you know, spiders eat meat and insects. You are a spider, and with bees, isn’t bees a perfect food for you and your babies?"

The spider quickly crafted a response. Elaina still finds it amazing that the spider is quick at making a reply, as if it is speaking normally to them. After it finished crafting its response, the spider handed it again to Elaina by dropping it with a string of web.

"I am a spider, yes. But my kind is the spider that does not eat meat or insects. What we eat are fruits and honey. Rather than eating the bees, we would rather have access to the honey the bees produce. Not only does it entice me, but it is also good nutrition for my babies."

"Honey and fruits, huh? Our farm can indeed provide that. But even for a spider like you, that doesn’t mean we can just provide you with food for free. I know you can understand me, so I hope you know that with every food you receive from us, you will be giving us some kind of fee that would suffice for an equivalent exchange."

The spider thought for a few seconds before it started crafting another set of responses. Once it is done, the response is handed to Elaina.

"I am totally grateful for this. How about this? Considering that my presence alone is enough to deter most monsters and I am mostly awake at night, I can act as a surveillance for the area against intruders. And if that isn’t enough, I heard humans value threads for creating clothes. How about I trade some of my silk webs as threads? They are sturdy and quite glossy. I will also make sure they aren’t sticky that will stick to human skin so that they will be usable."

"Threads, eh? How much can you produce each day?"

The spider quickly crafted a response.

"A lot. As long as I am well fed, I can produce lots of it if necessary."

Reading that, Elaina nodded. "Got it. In that case, I welcome you to the farm. I am more than happy to have you on board. For starters, what should I call you? I can’t keep you calling as a spider, yes?"

"Humans sure are fickle about names. Although I don’t have a name and I have no actual use for it, I do agree that I don’t like to be called a spider or anything. You can call me Silk. You call the threads I produce as silkwebs, correct? That would suffice for me."

Elaina nodded. "Got it. Glad to have you here, Silk."

Silk waves her front legs as she agrees. Then, she dropped another response to Elaina.

"I thought that things would get a bit harder for me negotiating with you, but things went much smoother than expected. If things were much harder, I would have to use this as a bribe or an additional cost for our stay here. I don’t need these, so I think the farm would have a much bigger use for these guys."

Silk returned to the top of the tree and returned with a huge bag of items that are fully wrapped in her silkweb. All of them seem to be moving, which means those things inside are alive. As soon as those bags of web are on the ground, Elaina uses her sword to cut them open slightly. She peeks inside and sees a few hairy creatures that she didn’t expect to see.

"A wild hog?!"

The kids were also curious, so they looked inside and saw a bound wild hog, trying to get out of the web. Of course, it is having trouble so it couldn’t break free even if it wanted to.

"Wow! A real wild hog! This is the first time I have seen one!" Arthur’s eyes sparkle while staring at the wild hogs.

"So we got pigs for free?! Wow, that’s a great deal!" Adelaide is happy seeing the bound wild hogs as well.

Elaina opens the other bags as well. All of them contain wild hogs. All in all, the spider brought eight wild hogs.

"That was an unexpected haul. Getting wild hogs like this instead of hunting and trapping them is a big stroke of luck!" Elaina is very happy. After all, not only do they get a thread supplier, but they also received pigs in the form of a wild hog. She didn’t even get to struggle getting them.

"Where are we even going to place these guys? Do we have enough space to put them in?" Raye asked.

"The barn is big enough to house them all. Although the Wild Cows are already there, the barn is big enough for these pigs. That would be their new home. We can even ask Curaj for help on these. Now, boys. Help me carry these silk bags with pigs and carry them inside the barn."

The boys nodded, and enthusiastically grab them.

"What about us, Mom?" Layla asked.

"You ladies can follow us. I don’t think you guys are strong enough to carry these pigs."

"No worries about this, Layla! Raye and I are quite strong, so these pigs are nothing! Just enjoy accompanying us!"

Although the girls do wanted to help, unfortunately, they aren’t strong enough to handle the pigs and considering that the pigs are still struggling, it will make the handling harder. Entering the barn, Curaj is currently distributing hay to the Wild Cows. Upon seeing Elaina and the kids, he smiled.

"Morning, Boss! Morning kids! What are you guys carrying?" Curaj asked, noticing the bags of wriggling creatures in their hands.

"Sorry about this, Curaj. It seems that you will have additional work with these things," Elaina put down the bags, revealing the pigs inside.

"Whoa, wild hogs? I didn’t expect this, Boss Elaina! It seems that you are slowly completing the animals a farm usually has, huh?"

Elaina chuckled. "True. Didn’t expect to receive them either. Anyways, I hope you are good at caring for these pigs? They are not domesticated, so it might be harder compared to regular pigs."

Curaj shook his head. "No worries, Boss. These pigs will not be able to do much as long as I am the one working here. And I don’t mind additional work. Having more work is much better than no work at all. I feel lazy without any good work, so getting more animals to care for is a good thing."

"Thanks, Curaj. I appreciate the work."

Curaj smiled and nodded. With this, Elaina completed one of her goals for the farm. And that goal got fulfilled unexpectedly.
