Chapter 1946: Raining Small Bombs

"Is it ready?" Kyle asked, looking over from one of the taller buildings, narrowing his eyes but sadly his eyes weren’t that sharp to see exactly if he was on top of where he should be.

Kyle was one of the archers recruited from the then-Fargo Village. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

He was also holding controllers in both his hands, so he couldn’t exactly look at the scope.

"Hmmn, 20 meters more. Go to the left," he said. "There, ah wind, go left 5 meters more."

They were determining which areas to target, and the wind wasn’t exactly working in their favor.

Also, cannons generally did not work as well due to the level 45-50 guarding each trebuchet. Even if they hit it accurately and even if they got several cannons to target it, if the enemy just used a wind wall or something, then a lot of that artillery would be wasted.

Unlike the trebuchets’ rocks, which could be made endlessly by earth users, theirs was the more classic metallic kind, which was a finite resource.

They simply couldn’t turn this into a battle of attrition because, for once, the enemy had more.

That said, if the explosives didn’t come from a direction the bastards thought, and now that they were sufficiently being distracted by their own forces, then they could finally target the dwarven weapons.

BANG!

BANG!

Below, everyone was busy going against enemies at ground level. They had no idea about what was approaching them from above. It simply wasn’t part of their training plan or their common sense.

The powerhouses causing trouble saw this but pretended not to see. However, they made sure to distance themselves from the trebuchet while fighting.

Anyway, the explosives dropped by hot air balloons wouldn’t do much for their level, but it could get inconvenient and distracting while having a life-and-death fight with people around the same level.

BOOM!

"AHHH!"

"WHAT!!"

The people below were very shocked at the sudden rain of explosives!

Where did these come from?!

Anyway, they were completely unprepared.

Like this, the rain managed to kill quite a few people of average levels and, more importantly, created a large pit that part of the trebuchets fell on!

BANG!

One had really fallen down, already upside down, while for the other, two wheels fell down, and it tilted to the side. People screamed in despair.

Trebuchets wouldn’t be broken by this fall, but they weren’t light at all! While average warriors could push it, it would require a high-level person to lift it up, and those people...were currently too busy guarding their own hides!

Anyway, like this, they finally got two trebuchets down!

...

BOOM!

BANG!

Meanwhile, around the area with the broken wall, the combined barrage of arrows and cannons targeted the incoming mobs.

The hundreds of thousands in their area had no choice but to disperse, many ending up in areas still covered by an adjacent sentry, which would then happily attack them.

Now that the working trebuchets were reduced, leaving only one working, more powerhouses could finally start dealing with the enemy powerhouses from Hassen.

Before, because a single projectile could crush a few Alterrans below level 20, the powerhouses had no choice but to focus on controlling its damage. Now that it was mostly neutralized, they could finally start pushing back.

Still, because this was one of the few major breaches, the people focused on going through here. Hundreds of thousands were still trying to get inside, with several thousand already inside.

However, since this was the only area that had cleared the sentries, the enemies also showed a predictable pathway to the walls.

Thanks to this, the Alterran cannons, the arrows, and other long-ranged attacks could just relentlessly attack whatever was in this direction, and they would be sure to hit someone.

Alterra had plenty of allies, many of whom were determined to help out. Some of them were assisting in various areas, especially where they could be needed and appreciated.

In some way or form, it was good to have Alterra owe them.

It was just that Alterra never really asked for help, so all they could target this time was more contribution points.

Alterran Contribution Points were extremely useful and would continue to be so. The town never seemed to run out of ideas, and it made sure that people—regardless of whether they accumulated tens of thousands of points or just a few hundred—would feel like there was never enough.

One was the massive costs of increasing purchase limits! The contribution points required there were massive, even exponential, with every upgrade. With the new farms and larger factories incoming, Alterra could naturally afford to do larger productions now, so there might be more ’levels’ opened up.

For many caravan owners, unlocking this was their goal, which was also why many of them passionately joined in this war.

Most headed to assist the area that had been breached, while others were looking out for the spies and those attacking from within.

There were some who had still gotten through with their high levels, shielded from the sentries.

Anyway, the biggest leak was in the undeveloped area, where now thousands of enemies had already entered and were being dealt with. They were led by dozens of level 30s and 40s, which was just much more than Alterrans, though so far they were being held back with one-on-one battles.

Alterra wasn’t helpless on average either. They had so many mercenaries from high-level towns and cities living there now.

They didn’t participate much during the battles in the battlements. This was mostly because there were already guards there, and movement was too limited if the mercenaries squeezed in.

It was also Alterra’s way of lowering the risk of leaks-by-betrayers. Temporary non-betrayal oaths were one thing, but they really couldn’t monitor everything now. Only Alterran guards had the flares signalling breaches as well, so naturally, they had to be stationed everywhere along the walls.

Anyway, the mercenaries and other helpers stationed themselves well in the easements, catching enemies as they entered.

What’s more, even the Alterrans themselves, even if the level was below average, were not weak at all!
