Chapter 1947: Battles Along the Easements

Even if there were thousands already inside the walls, they wouldn’t be able to get past a few hundred meters because there would always be people, groups or otherwise, to block their way.

Further, there were several guards there, and they were lucky to receive new weapons.

"Class C weapons? So many!"

Guns were a bit far away, but high-level cold weapons with criel were now available.

Guns, for now, still imploded onto itself when shooting a sufficiently strong shot. It had some success, but those weren’t enough to kill people above level 20. As such, the costs were too high to invest in, for now.

Fortunately, they weren’t dependent on hot weapons, and there were plenty of paths under the cold weapon category.

Just a few days ago, Brenda’s father, Birion, had successfully created several C-class weapons using a metallic alloy with the criel!1

One had to know that although he was a C-Class weaponsmith, the number of times he actually managed to create one was very few! One major factor was the material limitations, on top of his own mastery.

Now, all swordsmen with a decent rank have gained this weapon! The other users, like the spearmen, were jealous of the blessings. Unsurprisingly, they became especially friendly with Birion.

Birion’s "buddy date" schedule after the war—likely filled with people lobbying him to make more spears or other types of weapons—was already full for the next few days.

It was just that swordsmen composed the vast majority of fighters, so naturally, Birion prioritized them for this war!

Anyway, a Class-C weapon could easily slash down a Class D equipment and below. Valov really invested in its people and equipped most of them with Class D Equipment, but now even that was being wasted!

The Valov people inside could only curse.

How is this territory so unbelievably rich!?

...

BANG!

BOOM!

In one sector, the remaining trebuchet continued to shoot, using rocks that were delivered by slaves, rolled over from the arrays. Some fell when bombs from above targeted them, but they were slaves with enhanced senses and not every one of them could be stopped from doing their tasks.

It was a bloody fight, and in terms of raw power, the two territories were almost evenly matched.

It was soon a matter of equipment, and fewer projectiles from their side was flying up, and those that did would be redirected to cause minimal damage. So far, the trebuchet had only seemed to have injured a few hundred during the start, but now there was barely any effect.

Just outside the walls, the balloon continued to drop stuff on its way back to the territory. They could naturally not do this within the walls, as they had many allies there, but they could easily be indiscriminate with the enemy mobs.

The enemies tried to avoid the bombs by dispersing, but many of them entered the scope of surviving sentries. As for the powerhouses, they tried to shoot the balloons down, but they were too high up. After fighting for so long, they simply didn’t have the energy to reach the enemy!

Fortunately for them, the bombs in the balloons soon ran out. Unfortunately for them, there were still other types of weapons.

For example, some powders.

They couldn’t use it before because of the wind and the ample number of wind users, but now it should be sufficient. Even if it blew, it would just head in their side’s direction.

Drop~

The powder bombs were a bit larger than the explosive ones. From afar, they look like bird droppings.

Poof!

When it landed, eerie smoke emerged from it. This was the more common poison smoke that could only handle level 20s, but it was damaging enough since the enemies were so dense and so numerous.

Soon, more and more people fell down, many injured or killed by the feet of their own allies. Besston, who was still guarding the remaining trebuchet, saw this from a distance.

"Cover your mouths!!" Besston yelled, adding energy to his voice so he could be heard farther.

They had been studying Alterra for so long. How could they still be unaware of this strategy that they had used so many times already?!

"Wind users!! MOVE!"

As such, their wind users—with their mouths and noses covered—skillfully controlled their elements, lifting up the annoying smoke overhead the crowd.

These wind users were averaging at level 25, and there were quite a few of them per side, so the smoke couldn’t do much after it was dealt with.

They even tried to send it to the Alterrans’ side, but fortunately, Eagle—who was dealing with an enemy mercenary—summoned a large gust of wind to push it back.

While it saved the Alterrans, the poison smoke ended up dissipating for the most part, wasting the very expensive poison.

...

During this time, all of Valov’s spies had been mobilized.

There were also teams assigned to deal with them. They knew there were already plenty of spies, just that they couldn’t detect all of them. There were also those who did not seem so suspicious either, but ended up stabbing someone in the back.

The good part was that if a citizen was fighting, they moved in a large group. If not, they were hiding in the bunkers or in designated evacuation zones. This way, the spies had limited places to move around in.

Garan was in charge of the rest of the inner zone along with others. Whenever there was chaos, he would arrive, freezing the enemies if not killing them outright.

Even if they didn’t die immediately, they’d be weakened or tied down. Even if it were just a few moments, that was enough for the other responders to finish off their enemies.

In the past few hours, not including these assists, he had taken down about a dozen bastards hiding, some of whom were of a higher level than him.

His eyes were sharp as he stared at the territory he had been protecting; his guard had never fallen the entire time.

Any threats to his family, he must deal with them as soon as possible!

Brenda was one of the first NPCs, the weaponsmith lady with a scar on her fce
