Cyberpunk: Ultimate Cyborg System
Chapter 641: Way Too Low.
Force Amplification + Kinetic boost + Impact Amplification + Recoil Suppression. Chaining all four abilities into his fist, Dante brought it down onto the furry bastard. He didn't care whether it landed or notโjust seeing the explosion that followed was more than enough for him. It was almost as if a single punch from him had the destructive power of several nukes. That was the true power of a Level 6.
[C'mon, Mr. Tigris!] He yelled in a mocking tone. [I promise I won't kill you!]
Though high on the power he wielded, Dante never looked down on his opponent. Not even once. The humanoid tiger was a level 6 as well, and though he seemed to be struggling, Dante didn't think it was beneath him to fake it just so he would be underestimated. The bastard was Kaiser Tigris, heir to the Tigris family, one of Eidolon's twelve owners. Someone like that wouldn't come down to the battlefield if he weren't assured of his victory, and surely he wouldn't make the mistake of underestimating his opponent.
'Right?'
Just as that thought crossed his mind, something Dante had never expected happened right in front of his eyes. As he went for his next attack, the yellow tiger evaded and then turned around. Dante thought that he might be trying to swing his body to create another arc of energy, but the bastard did nothing like that. He just ran. He leaped away, flying like a bullet fired in the distance with no target in mind.
Confused, Dante didn't know how to react. He just stood there and watched him go, wondering what he planned on doing.
'Heโฆ he isn't trying to run, is he?'
No, no, no. Surely that's not the case. Dante followed, watching from a distance. For a moment there, he held on to the hope that the Tigris scion was trying to lure him into getting close before suddenly turning around to attack him, but that didn't happen. The bastard was about to reach the border of the pocket dimensions. The rubble gathered at its base should have been a sign that there was nothing beyond it, yet the furry bastard didn't seem to be stopping.
'Don't tell meโฆ'
An insane idea popped into Dante's mind, and before he could dismissed, the furry bastard made it a reality. His fist glowed with a brilliant golden light as he pulled it back, and just as he was about to slam into the border, he swung his arm.
A blinding flash enveloped the entire pocket dimension, and the shockwave that followed compressed everything into one side. Though he protected himself using several of his abilities, Dante's body was still blasted away.
Soon after, another blast shook the interior of the pocket dimension, then another. The power behind each decreased, but the intent remained the same. ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐จ๐ฏ๐๐.๐๐จ๐
[Youโฆ you aren't trying to escape, are you?]
His question froze the yellow tiger. He must have realized by then that his efforts were futile.
[Guess you're giving up on winning.] Dante said. [Are you ready to talk now?]
Turning around, the humanoid tiger glowered at him. To show him that the playtime was over, Dante changed his tone.
[You should have realized it by now.] A mental command swapped 4-6 for 8-6. [I could have killed you at any point I wanted.]
Holding up a hand, Dante used Spatial Distortion. The humanoid tiger caught on to his intent and coated his arm in the golden aura. Surprisingly, that seemed to block the distortion long enough for him to pull his arm away.
[Uh-ohโฆ impressive.]
Not expecting him to evade that, Dante decided to go a little further the second time, distorting the space around the humanoid tiger, trapping him in a box before trying again. With nowhere to go, the humanoid tiger was unable to avoid the distortion around his arm. The golden aura was unable to stop it, and the next instant, the entire arm slid off, the wound so clean one would think it had been meant to exist that way since forever.
Dante expected the furry bastard to start screaming in pain, but surprisingly, he only held his shoulder and gritted his teeth, letting his killing intent flood the surroundings.
[You don't have regeneration?]
For some reason, he was under the impression that the humanoid tiger would simply regrow the arm the next instant.
"I'mโฆ I'm going to kill youโฆ"
[Yeah, you can certainly try,] Dante said. [You probably didn't hear me, so I will say it one more time: I could have killed you at any point. Also, you aren't making it out of here without me opening the door, so you better behave yourself.]
Dismissing the distortions, he lowered his arm slowly. The furry bastard didn't take his eyes off him, still glaring even as he went down and grabbed his severed arm. He pressed it back into place, and a moment later, the bleeding stopped, and the wound seemed to disappear. Right after, the yellow fur began to retract, and the humanoid tiger shrank down, transforming back to his base form as if to say he didn't know.
"You do realize what it means to make us your enemy."
[You are the ones who attacked first.]
Dante had yet to make any moves against Eidolon, though one could argue that killing those six heroes counted.
"You stole something that belongs to us. What did you expect?" Letting the corners of his mouth rise, the blonde man went on. "I will cut you a deal. Give us back the relic, and we will pretend that you were never a thorn in our side."
[Your price is way too low.] Dante replied. [Besides, shouldn't you be negotiating for your release first?]
"Shouldn't you be negotiating with someone on the outside for that? Pretty sure that is how hostage situations work."
[Don't worry, I will ask them how much they're willing to pay for me to keep you here.] Dante said. [Now, you'd better have something for me. Make sure it's worth more than what the people outside are willing to pay, or you will be spending a long time here.]
