Chapter 40 is a curse!

For many weeks I have read reports from others that books no longer show more than 40 chapters. I myself have also had issues with several books showing 1000 or more chapters yet once I open the book only 40 can be read. 
But now you have gone toooooo far.  All the books I have displayed as reading have now all dropped chapters and only show 40.

Can someone please explain what the hell is going on?

I like the website, one of the best I have thought worth returning to 

Is this a bug from poor coding?
Has someone hacked into your site?
Was this done prior to asking for payments to open chapters?
