Overview

NovelBuddy respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (DMCA), we will respond promptly to claims of copyright infringement committed using our service. If you are a copyright owner, or authorized to act on behalf of one, and you believe that your copyrighted work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please submit your claim via our contact page.

DMCA Takedown Notice Requirements

If you believe that content available on NovelBuddy infringes your copyright, please submit a DMCA takedown notice containing the following information:

  1. Identification of the copyrighted work: A description of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed, or if multiple works are covered by a single notification, a representative list of such works.
  2. Identification of the infringing material: A description of the material you claim is infringing and that you want removed or access disabled, along with the URL or other location of that material on NovelBuddy.
  3. Your contact information: Your full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  4. Good faith statement: A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  5. Accuracy statement: A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
  6. Signature: A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.

How to Submit a DMCA Notice

Please submit your DMCA takedown request through our Contact Page. Select “DMCA / Copyright” as the reason for your message and include all the required information listed above.

Counter-Notification

If you believe that content you posted was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, you may file a counter-notification containing the following:

  • Your physical or electronic signature
  • Identification of the content that was removed and the location where it appeared before removal
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that the content was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification
  • Your name, address, and phone number
  • A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court in your district and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original DMCA notice

Repeat Infringers

In accordance with the DMCA and other applicable law, NovelBuddy has adopted a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, users who are deemed to be repeat infringers. We may also, at our sole discretion, limit access to the site and/or terminate the accounts of any users who infringe any intellectual property rights of others.

Response Time

We aim to process all valid DMCA notices within 2–5 business days. Upon receiving a valid takedown notice, we will remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material and make a reasonable attempt to notify the user who posted the content.
