Engagement Annulled? Now The Husbands Kneel and Beg for Her Favor
Chapter 62: Catfighting Behind Her Back
Jiang Qingli froze, her hand faltering on the flying vehicle’s door.
She paused for a few seconds, then slowly slipped inside.
The moment the door closed, Baili Jing reached out, scooped her up, and placed her on his lap.
His long, strong arms wrapped around her waist. The young man skillfully buried his face in the crook of her neck, his nose gently brushing against the base of her ear.
It tickled. Jiang Qingli couldn’t help but laugh, reaching out to stroke his soft hair.
"I missed you so much." Baili Jing’s lips curved as he kissed her cheek. "Did my baby miss me?"
Finding his spoiled act rather cute, Jiang Qingli deliberately teased, "Nope. I was focused on my studies, unlike some people who just daydream all the time."
"Then I must not be trying hard enough." Baili Jing straightened up to meet her gaze.
His deep, pleasant voice spoke self-reproaching words, but it was laced with a clear, rising smile. "I’ll have to learn from my baby..."
Jiang Qingli was so pleased by his sweet-talking she felt like her tail was about to wag. She lifted her chin. "Well, of course."
Her eyes sparkled. Baili Jing stared, his Adam’s apple bobbing. His other hand unconsciously rested on her waistline, subtly pulling her a little closer into his embrace.
Baili Jing lowered his gaze to the woman in his arms, his voice alluring. "So, baby, what were you and your friend discussing just now? What is it you want me to learn?"
After he asked, Baili Jing saw his proud childhood sweetheart, who had just been holding her chin high, freeze for a moment. Then, the tips of her ears turned red as she grew obviously flustered.
Jiang Qingli’s eyes darted around as she said with a straight face, "Some things about spiritual power, um... Oh, right! I didn’t give you your Spiritual Healing yesterday. Should we do it tomorrow night?"
’She actually managed to find a legitimate topic.’
’I really have to praise my own ability to think on my feet.’
She looked at him with righteous indignation, putting on a serious expression. "It’s all your fault for getting distracted last night! That’s why we didn’t succeed!"
"I’m sorry, Xiao Li." Baili Jing played along perfectly, an apologetic expression on his face. He bowed his head to kiss her slender fingertips. "It’s all my fault. I was too caught up in my passions and neglected our important business. Please forgive me, female master..."
"As long as you forgive me, I’ll do anything you ask..."
The handsome young man lowered himself, looking up at the girl with a fragile, pitiful tone.
But in those eyes, usually so gentle, flickered the hidden flames of excitement and anticipation.
Jiang Qingli hadn’t expected him to be so cooperative and almost burst out laughing. "Wow, you’re really getting into character! Don’t make me sound like some villain forcing an innocent into a life of sin!"
"It doesn’t matter if Xiao Li is a villain," Baili Jing’s voice was very soft. "I’ll like you no matter how bad you are to me."

’Good heavens, how can he say all these sweet things without even blushing?’
Jiang Qingli felt her face grow a little hot. She looked away, out the window, pretending to be concerned about the traffic conditions.
Watching the streetscape rapidly retreat, Jiang Qingli suddenly remembered something.
’Come to think of it, why does Baili Jing always change the subject whenever I bring up Spiritual Healing? It’s like he’s constantly trying to avoid it.’
’Does he not want me to get to know him?’
’Or does he have a secret?’
Jiang Qingli subconsciously glanced at the young man sitting beside her. The moment his eyes met hers, he immediately leaned in, begging for a kiss like a large dog that couldn’t bear to be separated from her.
His thin lips gently pressed against her cheek when her terminal suddenly began to beep incessantly.
Not paying much attention, Jiang Qingli casually picked up her terminal to have a look.
On the message screen, Lin Xiyue had sent over a dozen videos. The titles were long, and the wording was quite bold and eye-catching.
Jiang Qingli took only a few glances before quickly clutching the terminal in her palm.
She glanced nervously at Baili Jing, who just blinked innocently.
"What’s wrong?" Baili Jing asked with a smile.
Jiang Qingli breathed a sigh of relief. "Nothing."
Before long, the flying vehicle stopped in the garage.
Jiang Qingli pushed open the door and immediately saw a tall figure standing a few steps away.
Ye Linyuan—who knows when he’d arrived or how long he’d been waiting—stood with his arms crossed, his face dark as he stared at Baili Jing behind Jiang Qingli.
Jiang Qingli was confused. "What’s wrong?"
"I almost forgot, Mr. Ye has something to discuss with me." Baili Jing patted Jiang Qingli’s shoulder. "Baby, you head back first. I’ve prepared some lemonade."
After Jiang Qingli left, Baili Jing got out of the flying vehicle, looking somewhat puzzled. "Mr. Ye, you look terrible. Did something happen?"
"Cut the act." Ye Linyuan had no intention of being polite. He strode straight over, his presence intimidating. "Did you tamper with my flying vehicle?"
Ye Linyuan stared at him coldly.
There was an issue in the Underground City this afternoon, so he had to go back. When he came out, he planned to pick up Jiang Qingli, but halfway there, his flying vehicle broke down.
It was the evening rush hour, and traffic in the Central City was terrible. Even if Ye Linyuan had managed to get someone for repairs, he would never have made it in time to pick up Jiang Qingli.
His intuition told him something was wrong.
He came back and waited in the garage. And sure enough, Baili Jing had gone to pick up Jiang Qingli.
’That damn fox spirit. It was bad enough that he used every opportunity to seduce Jiang Qingli, but now he’s pulling stunts like this.’
Faced with Ye Linyuan’s accusation, Baili Jing smiled innocently. "Mr. Ye, your paranoia seems a little severe. It appears to be a common affliction among snake-types. If you don’t mind, I could introduce you to a few therapists."
"Slut," Ye Linyuan sneered. "For all your hard work, I don’t see her mark on you."
The smile on Baili Jing’s face froze.
He understood Ye Linyuan’s implication. His eyes narrowed. "She marked you?"
Ye Linyuan raised an eyebrow with the condescending air of a victor and turned to leave.
’Let him guess.’
-
Jiang Qingli had no idea that her two Beast Husbands had already had a fight behind her back.
After taking a shower, she went to Ye Linyuan’s room.
Ye Linyuan didn’t have many personal belongings; the room’s furnishings were no different from when she first saw it.
"Come here." Ye Linyuan’s gaze locked onto Jiang Qingli.
He was sitting on the sofa, his snake tail coiled lazily, its tip tapping gently against the carpet. He seemed to be in a good mood.
’A Beastman can freely control their bestial parts while they’re conscious.’
Jiang Qingli walked over and sat on his snake tail. "I’ve noticed you seem to really like having your snake tail out."
"It’s convenient," Ye Linyuan said, then gave a demonstration.
The snake tail moved up, wrapped around one of her legs, and with a slight tug, shifted her from sitting sideways to straddling his tail.
The snake’s body was cool to the touch, and as it brushed against her leg, it was easy for her mind to wander to certain blush-inducing, heart-pounding scenarios.
Jiang Qingli felt a little awkward and quickly brought up the Spiritual Healing.
His vertical pupils narrowed. Ye Linyuan seemed dissatisfied with how business-like she was being.
But he still nodded, allowing her to press against him.
After a few seconds of dizziness, Jiang Qingli opened her eyes again to a completely different scene.
This was Jiang Qingli’s second time entering Ye Linyuan’s spiritual domain.
It was more or less the same area as last time, but its condition was much better than on her previous visit.
The air was much fresher. The ground was no longer as dry and frightening, and the trees in the forest, which had been withered branches last time, were now sprouting tiny green buds, showing signs of returning life.
She felt a tug at her ankle, and a slick, slippery sensation coiled around it.
Jiang Qingli looked down and saw a jet-black venomous snake, as thick as a wrist, coiled around her ankle. It raised its head and flicked its tongue at her.
"Oh, it’s you." Jiang Qingli remembered this was Ye Linyuan’s Spiritual Body. She reached out, intending to pet it like last time.
But the moment her fingertips touched the snake’s head, it suddenly went ramrod straight, like a stick, and fell stiffly to the ground, its body completely rigid.
Jiang Qingli jumped in fright. She reached out and poked its body, but it didn’t react at all.
She panicked, her voice trembling slightly.
"Hey, you... you’re not dead, are you?"
