Chapter 36: Breeding Plant

Edgar looked at the builder’s blueprint, and his eyes immediately constricted.

⟨Blueprint: Breeding Plant⟩

⟨Grade: Yellow⟩

⟨Effect: Breeding Nightmares for Nightmare Stones.⟩

---

Edgar leaned back in his chair and quickly got a hold of his expression.

Still, he could barely hide his astonishment at the mere application of such a blueprint.

’This will definitely make leaders and kings fight for it.’

Edgar quietly began to observe the diagram on the blueprint.

The thing, if made, would be massive, taking up a space of fifty square metres.

To create it, the builder had to blend the usage of buildings with nature.

The presence of Nightmare plants used to control monsters made that clear.

’So, first I need to create a whole structure, then I need to add a parasitic plant called "Zombie Gondii", and lastly I need to bring live Nightmares inside.’

It was a really tiresome thing to create, but the upside of such a thing was too good to ignore.

’If completed, this thing can produce up to 300-400 Nightmare Stones in a day...’

Edgar leaned back in the chair and rubbed his face before he looked at Theo, who was smiling.

"What’s so funny?" Edgar asked, raising his brow.

The mature man leaned forward and put his hand on the table.

"You are the first to understand the complexity of the blueprint in mere seconds," he replied. "Perhaps you are much better than I initially expected."

’....I reacted way too early.’

It’s been only around ten days since Edgar had transmigrated to this world.

He was still far too naive about the ins and outs of this world.

’I haven’t even met a single builder yet.’

Edgar quietly looked at the man who was staring back without blinking.

"Are you not afraid of me?" Edgar probed slowly. "I can steal the blueprint, you know?"

The man chuckled softly, shaking his head in response.

"There is no way you could learn such a complicated blueprint in such a short period of time," Theo replied with absolute confidence. "That’s impossible."

’About that....’

Edgar glanced to the side as he brought out his system.

Hera spoke right after her father in a calm tone.

"If you can learn it with a glance, then maybe your friendship is more important than the blueprint."

’It’s your loss, lady....’

Edgar knew how valuable this blueprint truly was. Even though it was Yellow Grade, that didn’t mean it would always stay that way.

With Edgar’s system, he could perhaps upgrade it to a level beyond recognition.

’Come to think of it, the blueprint is graded in colours instead of its usual levels....’

Edgar mused over it for a while before theorizing.

’Maybe it’s because of the involvement of living organisms.’

Shifting his focus back to the topic, he looked at Theo.

"How many builders have seen this blueprint?"

"Two," Theo replied calmly. "Our personal builder and you."

"You don’t want many people to know about this, do you?"

"It’s an important blueprint," he replied. "I can’t have it seen by everyone."

"And still, you decided to show it to your rival clan’s member."

"You were disowned by them, Edgar," Hera said calmly. "It would be a shame if you didn’t hate them on the same level as us."

’Wow, the princess has spoken.’

Edgar chuckled inwardly as he kept looking at her.

"You don’t know me."

"I don’t," she replied. "But that doesn’t mean I don’t understand human nature."

Edgar nodded his head, looking back at Theo.

"So, you want me to bring the blueprint to life?"

"Exactly." The mature man nodded his head. "In return, I will fulfill whatever you need."

"Why isn’t your personal builder creating it?" Edgar probed further.

"....Let’s just say he is asking for too much."

Edgar keenly noticed the hatred and disgust in Theo’s voice.

’To hate your own personal builder, who is the backbone of the fortress....’

The things happening behind the scenes were quite interesting.

"How much would you pay?" Edgar asked, as he wasn’t aware of the market price.

Theo looked surprised. After some thinking, he replied, "Two thousand Nightmare Stones."

"Four thousand Nightmare Stones." Edgar gave a counteroffer without blinking.

Theo smiled and leaned forward with his hand extended.

"Deal."

’Wait, did I get scammed?’

Grimacing inwardly, Edgar shook his hand.

"Deal."

Theo was still smiling as he said, "Please have a look around my clan."

Edgar nodded his head, standing up.

"I was about to."

Hera stood up right after him, fixing her clothes.

"I will be your guide."

Theo looked at his daughter with surprise. He seemed to want to say something but held back.

Hera walked closer and gestured toward the door.

Edgar opened the door and quickly found a crooked man arguing with the guards.

He was an old man with white hair and a stick in his hand, one of whose eyes was made of stone and looked eerily fake.

When he took notice of Edgar, an arrogant look appeared on his face.

"Is this my replacement?" he asked, raising his voice. "This boy with a hairless groin?"

’Why don’t you check it, fuckface.’

Edgar held back his words when Theo walked out of his office.

"Sir Mord," he said calmly. "Why don’t we talk inside?"

The man named Mord made a disgusted face before he replied,

"You better have a really good reason to ignore me."

The old man tried to push Edgar aside, but he couldn’t budge him.

Edgar only moved when Hera gently pulled him toward her.

Theo gave them a look but didn’t have time to say anything.

When the door closed, Hera smiled at Edgar.

"Never knew you were a builder."

They began walking away while Andrew followed a few steps behind with an interested look.

"Now you know," Edgar replied, looking back. "By the way, who was that clown?"

"Sir Mord," she replied with a complicated look. "He is our clan’s builder...."

"Something happened?" Edgar asked, raising his brow.

Hera let out a sigh and mumbled,

"....Well, he wants me to marry his son."
