"Let him go," the lady of the two said as she walked ahead of the man his eyes fluctuating and changing shades. She looked pissed and the make next to her didn’t look any less than her.

Who were these two, the humans were sure they were dangerous.

"They are shifters," the squad leader said. There was no possible way the color of the human eyes would change due to anger. These two must be the parents of the pup lying in the human circle," Take them alive too," he said. It would be good to have the whole family together for their experiment.

They have a grown male shifter, a grown female, and a pup. Studying them together would be good and they won’t have to go hunting for more. They could even use them to find out how the bond worked, l and the mind link which only shifters could use. All that would be left was to catch a vampire and study them as well. They had limited time, they would move as fast as they could taking whatever chance they had.

A lot of things had been delayed when threats that humans had been missing in different cities. Surveillance once caught a vampire taking a human alive a leaving the scene. Another also caught a shifter doing the same. Though these activities were left open to the public, the government was aware and the organization under Jared was in charge of uncovering that case.

They had tried to find out if they were using the humans for because it was obvious that they were killing the humans, but all of their findings were useless. Nothing useful came out of it, rather, it cost them time and effort and delayed their plans, even adding another thing to the to-do list the organization had prepared.

The man growled and half-shifted when the weapons were directed at them. These humans were acting as if they could not understand the language they spoke. Their leader just said they should be captured alive, did they think they would just stand by and watch them take and do whatever they wanted to them?

["Get our pup,"] The man said to the woman who did not give any reaction but he knew she heard him.

"You are outnumbered, surrender yourselves, the leader said but the shifter lunged at them instead.

The more time they wasted, the more likely that their child would die. Following the plan, the wimanade her way toward their child while he covered her taking the hit and keeping as many of them away from her.

Her nails had become claws which she used on anyone who was close enough for her to touch and shoved away. But she didn’t go without vetting and hurt herself. She was stabbed and cut with silver blades which delayed in healing. Someone from behind snuck up on her and injected something into her arm h she felt as if it made its way to her heart and made her very uncomfortable.

Her vision started to blur and her senses started leaving her. She felt lightheaded as if she would take the very next step that he took. She turned and looked at her mate who was also having difficulty because the same thing must have been done to him and then to her child. She tried to mind link but she was too weak to reach him even while they were so close. She realized that she had been ejected with Wolfsbane and gave up the attempts, they were useless.

The soldiers no longer flooded them because they knew that the silver had been injected into them and they would be down soon. Their resistance would be futile and they didn’t want to keep wasting their energy on them when all they needed to do was wait for them to his consciousness.

Forcefully moving her feet, she dragged herself to the pup and scooped him up. As if feeling the arms of his mother even in his subconscious, he shifts back to his human skin and she cradles him and waits for the darkness to welcome her.

Slowly, her eyes dropped closed and she fell with a soft thud to the ground while still securely holding her pup.

The man saw this and howled, it was similar to what the pro did before except that this one was louder and longer. The soldiers knew he must be signaling anyone else around but they did not know what sort of signal it was. They acted similar to actual wolves but they were still different. Distinguishing the howl was impossible.

"Take them away," the leader said after making sure none of them were conscious anymore. It didn’t matter what the howl meant, if anyone else came, they would just deal with them too. Thigh he thought this, he had a feeling that something bad would happen.

While the soldiers dragged the shifters away like they were some abominations, the civilians who were watching in from the side and filming the whole thing tipped their filming and began uploading the footage to the internet. The wolf needed to know that creatures like these existed and they should be wary of them.

If no one believed it before they existed, after watching this, they were sure no one would doubt it.

Not too far away from where the chaos took place, Leo and Logan stood on the balcony with Hunter and Jared as they spoke on the matter of the problems the nonhumans had caused to the nation of Hyder.

They had come to Coldshade City representing the Prime Minister. Jared was beyond happy that the prime minister had sent his subordinates to visit and ask how the situation was being handled and what needed to be done. He was beyond happy to tell them what he needed and how planned to make use of them.

Each time he talked about how he intended to ruthlessly kill the shifters, especially the alpha and Luna supreme, they felt like clawing his throat out but they held themselves back and listened to his nonsense.

They froze when they heard the howl of a pup but it only lasted for a minute or more and it went silent. But they could not ignore the howl of a warrior male who called for help a few minutes later and their body itched to match wherever they were being tortured but they could not reveal themselves to be shifters they might end up fighting and losing battle.

"We will be sure to inform the prime minister of all that you have said, Mr Wills," Leo said extending his hand to Jared and forcing a sweet smile on his face. Logan wanted to growl at him for doing that but he stopped and rather yelled at him through the mindlink.

[" What the f*ck are you doing shanking hands with the enemy?"]

Leo blocked him out before he would let out a growl without realizing it. This was a time to dine with the enemy to get what they wanted and needed, so shaking hands was a must.

"I am glad to hear that, I do look forward to hearing from the prime minister soon," Jared said, smiling brightly. Things were starting to take a good turn now, getting the direct support of the prime minister was equivalent to having the president come to support him personally.

"We will take our leave now," Logan said interrupting the handshake.
