Fated To The Dark Alpha
Chapter 244 - 243. They are all dead
At Coldshade City
"How many have gone missing now?" Jared asked. He looked like he was on the verge of losing his mind and killing anyone who said the wrong words. He stared at the list of missing people. The number was unbelievably high but she could but understand what they were taken for. It started with a few missing people a day but now, thousands of them have gone missing in one night.
Even his soldiers were not an exception. People were taken from their homes and matter less of age or gender and everyone was taken and now, The government was on his neck, asking him to find them. And return them. Something he knew he would never be able to do.
Just like how he took vampires and hunters and never let them go, those missing humans would not get released. But the government didn’t seek to understand that. The people were as good as dead or maybe they may have been turned into something else, who knows?
"This is the number of people that we’re declared missing." The man who came in and gave him the list answered. He stepped back seeing how Jared gripped the paper and it tore where his fingers were.
"How was this possible?" he yelled. This was so annoying and infuriating. How many people were taken yet not even one of those creatures was spotted and taken? "All the training that I have given all of you, was it all for nothing?" he said up from the seat and the man moved back out of instinct. He wouldn’t put it past Jared to grab his neck and strangle him seeing how angry he was.
"I have given you all the training needed to catch those pests and kill them if needed but you allowed them to walk into our facility and take even your own," he matched towards the man who continued to take backward steps. "How much more do I need to train you before you learn to do what is right?"
He was not angry if the civilians were easily taken. What infuriated him was that his trained soldiers were taken as well and they didn’t even put up a fight that would alert the others and no one was vigilant enough to hear anything and fight. This was a shame to his many years of hard work. He thought of how smug those creatures would be right now when they were able to come into his territory and take what they wanted. What was his. He clenched his fists and gritted his teeth. This was unacceptable!
The man who had been retreating for fear for his dear life hit the wall and knew he was trapped. His eyes searched for anything that he could use to defend himself but he found nothing around him. He let out an inaudible curse when Jared was just two feet away from him.
"Commander, we will work on this and I promise that we will find them," he said even though he knew that was impossible. Whatever it takes to keep the man before him away from him.
"Find them?" Jared chuckled. "You are going to find them. Have you seen the ones before them?" he asked. He stopped moving and stared at the man before him like a fool. There must be something to h with his head if he thinks they will find those that went missing overnight.
"We have got some report of suspicious activities happening nearby, I was just about to tell you that so we could head out," the man said as he moved from where he stood before moving beside the wall towards the door. Should Jared try anything, he would save himself and come back when he was calmer. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Jared stared at the fool before him and didn’t know how to react. There was something suspicious happening nearby and with all that had happened at night they should have been art enough to know that they needed to check it out the moment it started but here he was, the sun was up in the sky but they were still waiting for permission. Rather than asking for permission first he was beating about the bushes and handing him a piece of paper that he knew would certainly get him angry.
"You are a fool," Jared said and walked past him heading for the door.
The man frowned at first not understanding how he became a fool but he realized that Jared had left and he did not need to be on guard again for fear for his life and sighed. If he was a fool that he was a living fool, it was better than being a smart dead man.
Jared reached outside and called another guard whom he assumed would know of the emergency that the fool inside was talking about. "Where?" he repeated his question since the man didn’t seem to understand him.
They still looked which only angered Jared more and he grabbed his throat ready to kill him at once. Was everyone so useless that had they all gone stupid to not know what went on and needed to be done?
"You are going to kill him Jared," Hunter’s voice came from the side. He was seen walking with his hand tucked inside his pants pockets. Even though he sounded concerned for the man, he did not look concerned. In his opinion, they must have done something to piss off Jared.
"That is what want," Jared said letting go of the man with a push. "Do you know where the suspicious activity is happening?" he asked. Hopefully, Hunter won’t have himself added to the list of nincompoops around him.
"I have," Hunter replied and Jared felt relief, at least someone who would know what to do was around.
"And...? Jared asked. It was one to know about it and it was another to do something about it.
"It is useless going after them. They are all dead," Hunter said and walked to stand where Jared stood. He placed his on his shoulder and patted it lightly. "It is almost time to attack, let this go so you can focus," he walked inside after saying that.
