Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 46: Christopher, Wake Up, Let’s Go Home
Rob quickly pointed to his phone, indicating that someone was talking to him.
Daniel could roughly guess that it was from Christopher’s wife.
He nodded and then whispered to Rob. Finally, he patted Rob on the shoulder and walked out.
Rob, however, stood there in a daze. "Could I really do this?" He thought.
After hanging up the phone, Janice changed clothes and went out.
Rob told her on the phone that Christopher was drunk and asked her to take him back home.
She went to the club by taxi.
Janice was confused since she remembered that the establishment was high-end. How could Christopher afford to come to such a place?
But when she thought that Mr. Hanson was also there, she did not think too much about it.
She finally found the room Rob told her about, and pushed the door open. She saw Christopher leaning against the sofa with his eyes closed. It seemed that he was asleep. There were a few empty bottles on the table.
Janice frowned, wondering how much wine he had drunk.
She walked over and patted his shoulder. Christopher didn’t move.
He must have had a lot in his system.
She reached out to help him up.
Christopher was too heavy. Janice struggled to help him up from the sofa.
"Christopher, wake up. Let’s go home."
However, Christopher made no reaction and still leaned on her shoulder.
Janice was helpless. Although her body couldn’t bear Christopher’s weight at all, she still tried to drag him out.
After the two got out of the building, Rob and Daniel walked out from the corner.
They just stood aside without providing any help.
Rob was stopped by Daniel for several times.
Rob was confused. "Mr. Pattinson, what are you doing?"
Daniel glanced at Rob and said, "You don’t know? Do you think Chris is really drunk?"
Rob knew that it was not easy for Mr. Bateman to get drunk.
"You mean he’s pretending to be drunk?"
Daniel nodded. "Of course."
Although Chris had been sitting there all night, he hadn’t imbibed much at all.
Hearing Mr. Pattinson’s words, Rob realized that Mr. Bateman might not be drunk at all but he became more confused.
"Why would he pretend to be drunk?"
Daniel asked, "Do you know why Chris was unhappy today?"
Of course, Rob knew the reason. He had witnessed the whole scene earlier, and he felt that Mr. Bateman was hard done by.
He was already very surprised that Mr. Bateman who had high social status, would be willing to marry Janice. Furthermore, he had done so many for her secretly.
As a result, not only did Janice thank the wrong person, but she also quarreled with Mr. Bateman.
Rob didn’t reveal that to Daniel though.
But Daniel had already guessed it. Based on his understanding of Chris, he wouldn’t easily get angry. After all, few things would make him angry.
Therefore, Daniel immediately thought of his wife.
...
Back in the hotel, Daniel was already surprised by the way that this couple lived. He wasn’t surprised that Chris would get angry.
"As the saying goes, lovers’ quarrels are soon mended. Chris pretended to be drunk because he wanted to mend their relationship. So, why don’t we help him?"
Rob still didn’t understand. However, he didn’t want to gossip about his boss.
Janice spent great efforts dragging Christopher out of the club. Fortunately, the previous taxi driver was still waiting there.
"Hello, sir, could you do me a favor?"
Seeing that drunkard, the driver got out of the car and said, "If he throws up in the car, I’ll charge you another 30 dollars."
She glanced at Christopher, who was leaning on her shoulder, and nodded.
Only then did the driver reach out his hand. However, before he could touch the drunkard, the man moved away. It seemed that he didn’t want to be touched by the driver.
Janice said in resignation, "Fine. Please help me open the door."
Finally, Janice helped him get in the car and she breathed a sigh of relief.
Looking at the man lying in her arms, she frowned.
In fact, Christopher wasn’t drunk at all. He had already secretly glanced at her several times.
After he quarreled with Janice, he was quite irritated.
However, once he calmed down, he could understand her position, because he had done everything in secret so far.
Her reaction was normal.
It was all the fault of her boss.
However, he still needed Janice to give him an out.
After all, he had rejected so many calls from her and she did not call him again.
So the only course of action was to pretend to be drunk.
Moreover, there were many benefits to this act. He could do something that he couldn’t when he was sober.
Thinking of this, Christopher slightly smiled.
Janice didn’t know what Christopher was thinking about. When they arrived at the apartment, she paid the fare and helped Christopher get out of the car.
Finally, she helped him get into his bed.
She felt sorry for him because he got wasted because of her.
It seemed that he was too inebriated to hear her apology. She could only wait until tomorrow.
She got up and was about to leave. But her arm was suddenly grabbed.
Janice was immediately pulled into Christopher’s arms.
Lying on his chest, Janice could listen to his strong heartbeat.
She rarely got so close to him. Every time he got close, she would feel inexplicably nervous.
But this time, she was not as nervous. Perhaps because she knew that he was harmless now?
Although she knew he couldn’t hurt her, he was still a man. She struggled to get out of his arms. However, Christopher’s other arm surrounded her.
He hugged her as tightly as if he was holding a pillow. Janice couldn’t move an inch.
...
Janice felt embarrassed. "How is he so strong? Is he asleep or not?" "Christopher, wake up. Let go of me." But Christopher didn’t move at all.
Janice had indeed run out of her strength since she had struggled to bring him back.
She chose to stay still for a while.
Feeling Janice calming down, he slowly opened his eyes and stared at Janice’s soft hair. She had never been so relaxed beside him before.
He curled up his lips.
Janice felt uncomfortable in such a position. Since she couldn’t get rid of him, she adjusted her position slightly.
Finally, Christopher couldn’t help turning over.
Suddenly, she felt dizzy and fell into the bed. Then she stared at him with her big round eyes.
"Aren’t you... aren’t you drunk?"
She surprisedly stared at Christopher, who had suddenly woken up.
Christopher deeply stared at Janice and could not help swallowing.
Who could refrain from touching such a beautiful wife?
He admitted that he was not a saint.
And the incident today taught him one thing; although she was his wife, other men also desired her.
Therefore, he could not wait any longer. He wanted her to be his real wife as soon as possible.
Thinking of this, his eyes darkened.
"Janice, do you know why I drank today?"
Janice knew the reason. After all, they had quarreled before.
And she had wronged him.
Then she said with some guilt, "Christopher, I know that I did wrong by you today. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have been so rude before."
"I am glad you know." His eyes twinkled. What he wanted was her guilt.
"So can you forgive me?" Janice whispered.
Christopher stared at her guilt-ridden face. It made him lose all levels of anger
towards her.
However, when he thought of his original intention of pretending to be drunk, he said with a tough tone, "It’s not so easy to just forgive you."
Janice didn’t expect that this gentleman would suddenly be so tough.
He had always been soft with her.
However, if she was in his position, she might not forgive him so quickly either.
Besides, she should take care of his self-esteem.
"Then how can I get you to forgive me?" Janice asked again.
"If... you promise me one thing," Christopher said.
Janice paused for a while and asked, "What’s the matter?"
"From tonight on, you will live with me." Christopher stared at her with an unfathomable expression.
Janice’s heart skipped a beat. She thought of what Yvonne had said earlier.
"You are so beautiful and have such a good figure. Who wouldn’t be attracted to you? I don’t believe that Christopher is a saint."
Although she didn’t think consider herself a beauty, nor did she feel that her figure was anything special, she was very clear that Christopher was not a saint.
"What’s wrong? You are not willing to?" He didn’t hear her reply for a long time, so he asked again.
Janice looked away in a panic.
"Not really, it’s just..."
"Just what?"
Christopher suddenly approached her. "What is it?"
His lips got so close to her.
