Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 47: Her Heart Was Moved
"Just what?"
His lips got agonizingly close to her.
Janice could even clearly feel his breath.
"Just...Can you get up first?"
She felt that she would be scalded.
His temperature was really high.
Christopher didn’t move. He was "drunk" now.
Staring at her red lips, he felt that he must do something, otherwise, he would lose his chance. His eyes darkened.
A kiss slowly fell on her lips.
Janice was stunned by his sudden kiss. Her whole body was stiff and she didn’t know how to react.
Glancing at her big round eyes, Christopher slowly covered them with his hand.
The darkness reduced her nervousness. She slowly put her hand around his neck.
Janice’s reaction at this moment encouraged Christopher very much.
In an instant, his blood started flowing quicker.
However, the next second.
"Christopher...I..."
Her face turned red. She wanted to say something, but she didn’t know what to say.
Her long eyelashes fluttered uneasily.
Staring at her expression, Christopher seemed to understand something.
He lowered his head and put his forehead against hers. His breath overlapped hers. "You are my wife."
Her feeble arm dropped powerlessly down. How could she not know this? However, it seemed that she hadn’t been well-prepared.
She was embarrassed.
Christopher paused for a while, then he got up, and walked into the bathroom. Soon, the sound of water splashing could be heard.
Janice suddenly felt relieved but a little worried.
"Is he angry with me?"
Thinking of this, Janice looked worriedly at the bathroom door.
At this moment, the bathroom door opened and Christopher walked out.
Janice quickly sat up but she felt too awkward to ask.
Christopher silently got to bed. They accidentally bumped their arms together.
Janice was shocked by the coldness of his skin. Did he just take a cold shower?
Just as she was about to say something, Christopher turned off the lamp and turned around to embrace her.
He said in a deep voice, "Sleep, honey."
At night, a faint light came in through the window. Janice stared at his angular face and gradually closed her eyes.
As she fell asleep, Christopher’s dark eyes slowly opened.
He stared at the person in his arms and caressed her soft hair. Perhaps he should get close to her step by step, which would gradually make her lower her guard. Later, Christopher also closed his eyes.
When Janice woke up the next morning, Christopher was no longer there. She slowly sat up from the bed and felt depressed about what happened last night.
She then got out of bed and walked out. When she saw Christopher in the kitchen, she paused for a while and then walked over.
"Christopher."
Upon hearing her voice, Christopher turned around to look at her, his eyes filled with gentleness.
"Morning."
Janice nodded while staring at his back. She then stepped forward and held him from behind.
Christopher was stunned. This was the first time that Janice got so close to him.
"What’s wrong?"
"Christopher, last night, I..."
Janice felt a little embarrassed.
...
Seeing her so hesitant, Christopher roughly understood what she wanted to say. He put down the things in his hands, turned around, and slowly hugged her. "Janice, I said I would wait for you."
His eyes were as soft as the warm sun in winter.
Janice was touched.
"Thank you, Christopher."
She could not help but reach out to hug him tightly.
Christopher gently patted her back.
"Well, go wash your face and brush your teeth. We’re ready for breakfast."
Then Janice let go of him and walked towards the bathroom.
At the dining table, while Janice was eating breakfast, she thought of what had happened yesterday. She looked up and asked Christopher, "By the way, how would you know that I mistook the wrong person?"
Last night, she felt that there was something strange but she didn’t ask because Christopher was drunk.
Christopher paused for a moment, then said, "I guessed it."
"You guessed it?"
Janice did not quite believe it. How could he guess? However, it seemed that there was no other possibility other than guessing.
Then Janice did not think much about it.
But there was one thing that she had to figure out. It was Rob Hanson’s anonymous number.
On the way to the TV station, Janice called Rob.
Early in the morning, just as Rob was about to set off to pick up Christopher, Janice’s call came in.
He frowned. Why did she call him?
He hesitated for a moment before picking it up.
"Mr. Hanson, this is Janice Gladwell."
"I know," Rob said.
"Here’s the thing. I want to know if you had provided me with any news clues at the end of last month?"
Rob remembered that it was the task Mr. Bateman assigned. But then he realized
that he forgot to change the phone.
"Yes."
When Janice heard the "yes", she instantly became excited. "It’s really you. Thank you so much."
The news clues had saved her from the whole month’s bonus.
Rob awkwardly answered, "You don’t have to thank me. It’s Mr. Bateman who mentioned it by accident."
Mr. Bateman? Christopher Bateman?
Janice recalled that she had indeed complained to Christopher about the lack of news. However, she did not expect him to keep that in mind.
However, why was this title so strange? Mr. Bateman?
But it was none of her business. Anyway, her gratitude to Rob increased.
He not only lent them his apartment but also provided her with valuable information.
Hence, she said, "Mr. Hanson, when are you free? I’d like to invite you to have dinner with us to express our gratitude."
"Well... " Rob was sweating. After all, this was his mistake. How could he dare to accept the thanks? Besides, what if Mr. Bateman found out?
"It was no trouble, I assure you. Ah, I’m driving. It’s not convenient to chat right now. I must hang up."
Rob hung up the phone in a hurry. If they continued to talk, he would be exposed.
Hearing the busy signal on the phone, Janice frowned and put away her phone.
Since he was Christopher’s friend, she could make another appointment.
On the way to the TV station, she picked up the dress from the dry cleaners.
When she arrived at work, it was still early, so she went straight to Benjamin’s office.
She planned to secretly return the dress, then leave.
However, when she opened the door, she found that Benjamin was already inside.
...
Janice looked at the time. It was not even eight o’clock yet. Many of her colleagues had not arrived yet, let alone the director.
So why did he come to work so early?
"Janice?"
Janice had planned to leave, but she was noticed straightaway by him.
"Good morning, Director Taylor."
Benjamin put down the document in his hand and walked up to her.
"Morning, have you eaten breakfast?"
Janice said, "Yes."
Benjamin nodded and his gaze inadvertently fell on the paper bag in her hand.
Janice said, "I’m here to return your dress."
She said while raising the paper bag. "It’s all washed."
However, Benjamin stared at the dry-cleaned item, and his eyes darkened.
"Janice, this dress is for you."
Upon seeing his gaze, Janice was stunned for a moment. Then, she unnaturally looked away. "Director Taylor, I don’t deserve it. Besides, I don’t need it."
Her tone was so calm, so distant. Benjamin’s heart sank, and then he slowly reached out to take it and put it aside.
"All right then."
After this, Janice was about to leave but something occurred to her. She turned around and said, "Director Taylor, it really wasn’t you who helped me?"
Benjamin nodded, "No."
Janice was confused. Since it was not Benjamin, who else could it be?
Benjamin stared at her and said, "Janice, last night..."
Before he could finish his words, there was a knock on the door.
"Director Taylor, the car is ready. We can set off now."
The assistant said.
Only then did Benjamin Taylor swallow the words he wanted to ask.
Seeing this, Janice said, "Then I’ll leave first."
"Janice, wait a minute."
Benjamin stopped her.
Janice stopped and looked back. Benjamin came over with a folder.
"This is the core part introduction of the program I mentioned last night. Take it and have a look. I hope you can consider it. It’s really suitable for you."
Before Janice could refuse, Benjamin had already put the file bag in her hand.
"Janice, I hope you can consider it seriously."
After that, he strode away.
Janice went back to the office with the file, but she didn’t open it.
When she was in school, she really wanted to host her own interview show.
However, when she chose to be a reporter, she never thought about it again.
Now there was such an opportunity, and her heart was moved.
However, did she still have this ability?
Janice did not know what to do. She held the file in her hand for a moment, but in the end, she did not open it. Instead, she placed it on the file rack.
In a spacious and bright office.
After Rob finished reporting his work, he thought of the phone call from Janice. He said, "Mr. Bateman."
Christopher who was busy in working, hearing his words, asked, "What’s the matter?"
His eyes were still on the document in his hand.
Rob couldn’t help but sweat on his forehead. He told the conversation he had with Janice.
Hearing this, Christopher frowned slightly, but he didn’t blame Rob. "I see." He said indifferently.
