Chapter 196: Kill the Boy

Blasting sound echoed in the sky as vehicles caught fire and exploded, while soldiers of RedBull and the volunteers who hadn’t gone through any training threw themselves against the Wingreaper.

Blood stretched across buildings as humans were thrown against the barracks buildings like tomatoes.

Inside the Instructors’ building, Merlin’s eyes widened when one guy he knew got crashed against the transparent window and splattered into countless pieces.

His jaw tightened when he turned and saw the strong men of RedBull standing there, smiling. "Is this a joke to you?"

Merlin sighed heavily, then brushed his palms across his face, breathing sharply. When he lowered his hands, he looked straight into Wang’s eyes.

"You really called them here, at the time they are needed?" He said in a sharp tone that struck through the ears of the standing soldiers like a blade.

Wang closed his eyes for a second, then when he cracked them open, he clenched his right fist and slammed it on the table at his front, shattering it completely. "Be careful with your choice of words, Merlin!"

Merlin focused on Wang for a second then shifted his gaze, then went and stood by the window. He placed his hand against his chest, while watching how humans ran across the street like chicks on a chase.

He took in a deep breath, then turned slowly to Wang and the top soldiers. "How many of our people will die before you call this off?"

Wang laughed heartily then stood up from his chair. "Merlin, Merlin, Merlin."

He looked at the soldiers once, then focused on Merlin as he walked toward him. "How many times do I have to correct you on that."

Wang stopped by Merlin’s side, placed his right arm on Merlin’s shoulder, then pointed his left at the glass.

"You see, if they were our men like you said, none of them would be screaming like we are watching. Only weak humans pretending to be strong have that trait." Wang said in a calm voice, then lowered his head for a quick intake of breath.

Merlin turned a pale face and fast blinking eyes to Wang. "Are you really the man I used to know, Wang?"

Wang lifted his head and squinted at Merlin. "Absolutely. Nothing else has changed. Just that I stopped caring for the twerps."

Merlin brushed Wang’s hand off, moved a step back, then shook his head. "I would not stand and watch them die. I never signed up for this shit!"

"Merlin," Wang called out when Merlin walked toward the exit. "Call us when that boy is dead!"

"Which boy are you talking about?" Merlin turned fully and looked at Wang and the other soldiers with an extremely confused stare.

His eyes went pale when he saw the smile on Wang’s face. "Don’t tell me you’re actually stopping these soldiers all because Yung Chin K didn’t die with the suicide mission you sent Team Alpha into?"

Wang didn’t answer, he simply walked back to his chair, then sat down calmly. He looked at Merlin’s shocked face, then grinned. "Oh, if you want us to join in or call the Hunter section, kill him yourself. I’m giving you the privilege I failed to attain years back."

"You WHAT?!" Merlin said in a loud voice then moved two steps forward without even noticing.

"You heard me right." Wang said mid-laughter, then crossed his hands on his chest.

"The top official will hear about all your actions after this is over." Merlin said, then turned.

Two of the soldiers rushed toward Merlin but Wang stopped them. "Allow him to sign his own death warrant."

When Merlin pushed the instructors’ entrance door open, flying bullets welcomed him before he could even step into the outside world.

"Shit," he said low as he sidestepped one bullet and watched it hit the glass he had held. Just as he stood up, warm blood began seeping out of his left shoulder heavily and caused his arm to go numb.

Instead of stepping back to heal himself, Merlin tore out part of his shirt and tied it on the wound, then clenched the numb arm until it came back alive.

Screams tore out as countless Wingreapers descended from the sky and loomed over Tessa.

"Help! Help! Help!" Her dying cries shot into the air as two of the creatures dashed forward with their torsos opened wide. But two of her security men rushed forward and pulled her out of the way.

After placing Tessa in a shielded area where countless soldiers and a few volunteers were, the Wingreaper chased after the two brown-skinned men and splattered their bodies as if they were made of paper.

Just as the Wingreaper dashed toward the shield of soldiers and collapsed their firm human wall, the volunteers’ screams flew into Kai’s ears.

Without hesitation, Kai picked up a broken rifle, dismantled it and held its sharp metal as a dagger, then dashed toward the broken shield of soldiers.

Two Wingreapers dived toward Kai, but he jumped onto one and sliced the metal across the creature’s neck, which chopped off its head and sent the two of them crashing onto the ground.

When the second dashed forward with its claws slicing through the air, Kai rolled on the bloodied dust and gave the creature an upper kick.

The impact sent the Wingreaper flying into the clouds and diving back, crashing onto a naked iron pillar.

"Weak," Kai said in a low voice, then dashed toward the ones that had dismantled all the soldiers and were nearing the volunteers.

"Hey, leave them!" Tessa screamed at one Wingreaper then picked up a fallen rifle. She slammed it against the creature’s scalp when it hooked a small girl’s leg into its teeth. "I said leave them!"

Another Wingreaper shoved the rifle off Tessa’s hands and snarled at her, sending saliva flying through the air and splashing on her face.

Two of Tessa’s men who hadn’t been killed dashed forward. One grabbed the Wingreaper by the tail and hurled it a few meters back.

The Wingreaper flew in the air and slammed right at Kai’s front, causing him to stop abruptly. When the creatures got up, they snarled at Kai then dashed toward him while blood seeped from their sides.

"I thought they would just leave, instead they’re coming after me?" Kai said in a slightly shocked voice. "Well, I guess I have to wipe them all out."

His shoulders raised when he picked up a kitchen knife from the floor and took in a deep breath.

He dashed forward at a speed that was faster than sound and lighter than snow. He drove the kitchen knife into the first creature’s eyes, then pierced the metal into the second’s throat at once.

When the creatures collapsed at his feet, Kai looked at his hands, then brushed the green blood off them. "I think I have to use my hands for a while."

Just as he ran and reached the volunteers’ side, he saw Tessa holding one of the men dressed in a black suit’s waist as they dragged her away.

"She really has people that are stronger, wow. That’s nice." He said, then crouched down when he felt something pulling his trouser.

Kai looked at the chubby lady and the three young kids hiding behind her, then smiled.

"Thank you," the chubby lady said in a woeful voice, then smiled back.

Kai shifted his gaze from them when footsteps echoed from his left side.

"Kai, we need to move." Cassy said the moment she reached Kai and the volunteers’ side.

She looked at the chubby lady with jealous eyes, then frowned. "We need to go now!"

Kai looked at her, at the chubby lady and the kids, then back to Cassy. "We can’t leave them here. At least they have to be out of here as well."

Cassy’s brow furrowed, but she shifted her expression when she saw Kai watching. "Okay fine."
