Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Live Broadcast

Wyatt Shaw, dressed in jeans and a black jacket, turned around at the sound of their voices, startled to see them.

"How did you know I was here?"

"Never mind how we knew. Just get down from there!" David Sutton said anxiously.

Wyatt Shaw narrowed his eyes, then tilted his head to look at Yvonne Sutton.

He was silent for a moment before saying, "If you want to talk, fine. I’ll only talk to Yvonne."

David Sutton nodded quickly. "Talk to her, then! Go on, talk!"

"You go down first!"

"Huh? Me?"

"Get down!"

David Sutton didn’t dare disobey. He quickly pushed Yvonne Sutton forward and whispered, "Just agree to whatever he says. The important thing is to coax him down first."

Yvonne Sutton nodded. "I know."

After David Sutton left, Yvonne Sutton exhaled. "You said you wanted to talk to me, right? So come down first."

Wyatt Shaw crossed his arms. "If I come down, will you still listen to me?"

"I will. I’ll listen to whatever you say," Yvonne Sutton said.

"Then I want you to promise you won’t mention divorce. Will you?"

Yvonne Sutton pressed her lips together, then nodded. "I promise you."

"Just like that?"

"Yes, I promise you."

"You’re lying, aren’t you?"

"I’m not!"

Yvonne Sutton’s heart was pounding. "I swear, once I’ve promised, I’ll never bring up divorce again. Unless you bring it up first."

"Why would I ever bring up divorce? My heart has been aching this whole time."

"So we have a deal. Now hurry and come down, okay?"

The corner of Wyatt Shaw’s mouth curled into a smirk, the picture of a successful schemer. He was about to jump down when he caught something in his peripheral vision and immediately leaned forward to get a better look.

His movement made Yvonne Sutton cry out in terror.

"Wyatt Shaw, you big bastard! If you jump, I’ll hate you for the rest of my life! No, I’ll hate you for all eternity!"

Wyatt Shaw was stunned for a second, then chuckled and beckoned her over.

Seeing him laugh, Yvonne Sutton froze, confused.

"Hurry up, you can watch the live show."

Wyatt Shaw beckoned again, and only then did Yvonne Sutton tentatively walk toward him. She slowly approached, and when she was just a step away, she lunged forward and threw her arms around his legs.

But her lunge sent his upper body pitching forward. Luckily, there was a pole nearby, and he managed to grab it, saving himself from falling.

Never mind Yvonne Sutton; even Wyatt Shaw’s face went pale with fright.

"Are you that eager to be a widow?"

Yvonne Sutton shot him a glare. Seeing that he was still in the mood to joke, she snapped, "Get down from here now!"

"In a minute. I need to take a few pictures first."

With that, he took out his phone, aimed it at the building across the street, and snapped several photos. He then checked them and seemed satisfied that the faces were clearly visible.

"What are you taking pictures of?" Yvonne Sutton asked.

Wyatt Shaw sat down first, then patted the spot next to him, motioning for Yvonne Sutton to sit.

Yvonne Sutton glanced down below. She was scared, but she straddled the ledge and sat down anyway.

Wyatt Shaw put his arm around her and pointed to a window in an apartment across the way.

"There. Look how eager they are. Didn’t even bother to draw the curtains."

Yvonne Sutton squinted but couldn’t see clearly. She leaned forward slightly. It looked like a man and a woman, both naked. ’Are they in the middle of a love scene?’

Her eyes widened, and she tried to get a better look, but the next moment, Wyatt Shaw covered her eyes with his hand.

"What are you covering my eyes for?" she protested, slapping at his hand.

"You’re not allowed to look at another man’s body."

"But you looked at the woman."

"I stopped looking when the woman started taking her clothes off."

Yvonne Sutton cleared her throat and pulled Wyatt Shaw’s hand away. But then, something didn’t seem right. She turned and glared at him.

"So you’ve been coming to this rooftop often, not because you were suicidal, but to spy on that couple?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

At this, before Wyatt Shaw could even explain, Yvonne Sutton’s anger boiled over, and she punched him hard.

Wyatt Shaw hissed in pain. "They’re not a married couple."

"How do you know they aren’t married?"

"That man is Zoe Churchill’s husband. You know who Zoe Churchill is, right? The owner of the B&B where I was staying."

Yvonne Sutton blinked. Of course, she knew who Zoe Churchill was.

"That’s her husband?"

Unable to contain her curiosity, Yvonne Sutton tried to look again, but Wyatt Shaw turned her back toward him.

"No looking."

Yvonne Sutton slapped his hand away. "But even if that is her husband, what’s it got to do with you?"

’Coming here every day, making everyone think he’s going to jump.’

Wyatt Shaw was silent for a moment. "She was Hannah Abbott’s roommate."

Yvonne Sutton pressed her lips together. This seemed to be the first time he had ever brought up Hannah Abbott on his own.

"When I went abroad to study, it wasn’t because I was following my dad’s plan. I left in a fit of pique. I was worried about Hannah Abbott, so I took her with me. Back then, I refused any financial support from my family, so I worked part-time while going to school to make ends meet."

"The first year was tough, but I was content. But after Hannah Abbott got familiar with the locals, she started getting restless. She fell in with a bad crowd—drinking, fighting, and looking for trouble. They pissed off a powerful local gang, and the gang wanted revenge. Everyone else saw things were going south and fled, but Hannah Abbott, oblivious to the seriousness of the situation, just went home. There was another Asian guy in their group who called me after he got away safely. I rushed to find Hannah and managed to get her away just before the gang members found her."

"But... what I didn’t know was that Zoe Churchill was still at home."

Yvonne Sutton bit her lower lip. She could guess what happened next.

"Those guys didn’t know what Hannah Abbott looked like; all they knew was that a Chinese woman lived there. They mistook Zoe Churchill for Hannah and attacked without asking any questions. Several large men beating up a single girl—she stood no chance of fighting back. Luckily, a neighbor heard the commotion and called the police. She was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. She was in critical condition several times and spent a month in the ICU. They saved her life, but her spine was injured, and she was paralyzed from the waist down."

As he said this, Wyatt Shaw slammed his fist against the concrete, the self-blame and regret causing him visible pain.

Yvonne Sutton didn’t know what to say. ’It’s not always easy to clearly assign right or wrong, to determine who’s responsible. But Zoe Churchill definitely suffered this tragedy because of Hannah Abbott, and Wyatt was the one who took Hannah abroad. He should have reined her in, but he failed, and an innocent person was harmed because of it.’

"So you didn’t just run away from home. You recovered your memories, remembered your debt to Zoe Churchill, and came to find her?"

"Yeah. This has been weighing on my heart for a long time. It’s heavy, so heavy. I tried to make it up to her before, but I didn’t know how, and I couldn’t bring myself to face her. Then, after the car accident with Hannah Abbott, I just... comfortably forgot all about her."

"Don’t tell me your way of making amends is to catch her husband cheating," Yvonne Sutton asked, speechless.

Wyatt Shaw sighed. "I just happened to stumble upon it. I didn’t have any proof before, but now I do. I’m just not sure if I should tell Zoe Churchill."

"Don’t jump! Don’t do anything stupid!" someone shouted from below.

Yvonne Sutton and Wyatt Shaw looked down and saw that they had actually attracted the police. There was even an air cushion inflated on the ground below.
