At that moment, Wyatt Shaw sat down next to Zoe Churchill.

"You son of a bitch, you actually knew to consult a lawyer?"

When Wayne Coleman saw Wyatt Shaw, fear immediately flashed across his face. But thinking of the money, he still puffed out his chest.

"This is between my wife and me. Outsiders like you have no right to interfere."

Wyatt Shaw raised an eyebrow. "You think just because her parents and family are gone, you can bully her however you please?"

"I—I have nothing to say to you."

"Then shut up. I’ll do the talking."

Wyatt Shaw took out his phone and played the video he’d recorded last night of him and Reed Lynch in bed.

"What you’re doing is called adultery. In a divorce, you would be the at-fault party. The non-fault party can not only demand a larger share of the assets but also has the right to claim damages."

"What at-fault party? I don’t know what you’re talking about."

"Shut up. No one told you to speak." Wyatt Shaw shot Wayne Coleman a cold glare. His features were naturally aloof, and when he wasn’t smiling, he was extremely intimidating. "Furthermore, you fraudulently misappropriated your shared marital assets. If Zoe Churchill decides to pursue this, not only will you have to return that two million, but you’ll also forfeit any claim to the rest of the property."

At this, Wayne Coleman started to panic. "You—what right do you have to speak for her? What’s your relationship?"

"We are friends, plain and simple. Not only will I speak for her, but I’ll also hire the best lawyer for her. You, on the other hand, will not only leave this marriage with nothing but will also end up in jail for fraud."

Likely intimidated by Wyatt Shaw’s presence and burdened by his own guilt, Wayne Coleman pursed his lips and said, "That two million is already in Ms. Lynch’s account. I—I can’t get it back. For the sake of our many years as a married couple, just let it go. As for this inn, I’ll leave it to you. I’ll just take, take one million."

Wyatt Shaw scoffed coldly. "In your dreams!"

"I’ve already made a huge concession. Zoe, you don’t want me coming back to bother you all the time, do you?"

"Five hundred thousand!" Zoe Churchill looked at Wayne Coleman. "Take this five hundred thousand, and you and she will disappear from this town immediately. I never want to see either of you again!"

"Only five hundred thousand..."

Wyatt Shaw slammed his hand on the table. "Five hundred thousand or jail time. Take your pick."

Wayne Coleman was genuinely afraid of Wyatt Shaw. He quickly said, "Fine, five hundred thousand it is! I want it now!"

"You’ll get it as soon as you have the divorce certificate."

Because of the mandatory divorce cooling-off period, Zoe Churchill didn’t want to wait that long, so she filed a lawsuit online and was divorced half a month later.

During that half-month, Yvonne Sutton and the others stayed by Zoe Churchill’s side.

The day after she received the divorce certificate, officers from the police station came to her door. They told Zoe Churchill to come and complete the paperwork to get her two million back.

Zoe Churchill was stunned. "But wasn’t it already transferred to Reed Lynch?"

"Mr. Shaw contacted us back then, stating that this transaction was suspected fraud, so we notified the bank to freeze the funds. The case has now been fully investigated. Wayne Coleman and Reed Lynch have been arrested, and they will await the judgment of the law. As for you, Miss Churchill, you can now retrieve your money," the officer explained.

Zoe Churchill looked at Wyatt Shaw, momentarily at a loss for words.

Wyatt Shaw pursed his lips. "We tried to warn you, but you didn’t believe us."

Zoe Churchill smiled. "Yes, I apologize to you all."

It seemed like the matter was perfectly resolved. But that very night, Zoe Churchill suddenly felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen. Yvonne Sutton recognized it as a sign of a threatened miscarriage, so she and Wyatt Shaw rushed her to the town hospital.

The doctor on duty was a woman, but she was new and inexperienced, especially since Zoe Churchill’s situation was unusual.

"I—I’ll call our director first, but she went to Aethelgard, so it might be a while."

Yvonne Sutton saw that Zoe Churchill was in severe pain and already spotting blood. The situation was critical.

"I’m a doctor," she said to the female doctor. "But this is your hospital, so it’s not my place to take over directly. Can you follow my instructions?"

"Huh? You’re a doctor?" The doctor didn’t dare to believe her so easily.

"She is. I trust her," Zoe Churchill said to the doctor, gritting her teeth through the pain.

"But..."

"No buts. If anything goes wrong, I’ll take full responsibility."

Saying this, Yvonne Sutton quickly pushed Zoe Churchill toward the ultrasound room. The female doctor, after a moment’s hesitation, hurried after them.

After a whole night of effort, Zoe Churchill’s condition finally stabilized for the time being.

Both Yvonne Sutton and the other doctor were completely exhausted. They took a short nap on an empty, unused bed in the hospital room.

When dawn broke, it was time for the female doctor to start her shift.

"Are you the only doctor in your hospital’s gynecology department?" Yvonne Sutton asked, a little curious.

The doctor gave a wry smile. "This is just a town hospital. Besides me, there’s only Director Miller. We usually don’t have many patients, especially at night. It’s called being on the night shift, but most of the time it’s just sleeping at the hospital."

Yvonne Sutton nodded. The town wasn’t large and was mostly full of tourists. Unless it was an emergency, most people would choose to go back to their own local hospitals. To put it bluntly, they were afraid the medical care in a small place wouldn’t be up to par.

And well, it really wasn’t up to par.

"By the way, I still don’t know your name," Yvonne Sutton asked.

"I’m Sandra Sutton. And you?"

"Yvonne Sutton."

Yvonne Sutton extended her hand and shook Sandra Sutton’s. Then they both smiled.

"Our names are so similar."

"They are."

Zoe Churchill needed to stay in the hospital for a few days. After working all night, Yvonne Sutton planned to go back and get some proper sleep. As she left the room and headed downstairs, she saw a middle-aged man coming up, carrying a food container.

The middle-aged man was looking at his watch as he walked and didn’t notice her.

Fortunately, Yvonne Sutton saw him first and quickly stepped aside, avoiding a collision.

The man still didn’t notice. He went past the stairwell and called out, "Shannon, time to eat! Your mom made you eight-treasure congee."

"Coming!"

Sandra Sutton ran out from inside and took the insulated container from the man’s hands.

"Dad, let’s have ribs tonight. Your braised pork ribs."

The middle-aged man smiled and tapped Sandra Sutton on the nose. "All you think about is food!"

"Stop tapping my nose! You’re going to make it flat!"

"You’re my daughter. You’d be beautiful even with a flat nose."

"I don’t want a flat nose!"

Yvonne Sutton found herself watching them for a while, a pang of envy in her heart.

Her own father had passed away shortly after she was born, so she had never known a father’s love growing up.

She walked downstairs with a hint of regret. At the landing, Wyatt Shaw came running up, also carrying an insulated container.

"I made you dumplings with a three-delicacy filling. Eat them while they’re hot."

Yvonne Sutton raised an eyebrow. "Dumplings?"

’Making dumplings is a lot of trouble; he must have gotten up before dawn to prepare them.’

"After making sure Zoe Churchill was okay, David Sutton and I went back. He went to sleep, but I couldn’t, so I made you some dumplings," Wyatt Shaw said.

Yvonne Sutton was so moved she felt muddled. She stepped forward and hugged Wyatt Shaw. "How about you stop being my husband and be my dad instead!"

Wyatt Shaw stared at Yvonne Sutton in disbelief. "I didn’t realize you had such... peculiar tastes!"
