Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Getting No Advantage

Chester Sutton knew he wouldn’t get the upper hand with Wyatt Shaw. He subconsciously looked toward Yvonne Sutton, only to see she had already turned and gone inside. Just then, he saw a police car approaching in the distance.

Arson. He knew Hugh Sutton would be taken away. If his son was arrested and ended up with a criminal record, his life would be ruined.

"I agree to move out!" he hurriedly said to Wyatt Shaw.

Wyatt Shaw’s eyes darkened. He glanced back at Yvonne Sutton’s retreating figure. He could have used much harsher methods against them, of course, but he didn’t want Yvonne to be hurt again.

The next day, while Yvonne Sutton was sweeping the entrance to the inn, she saw a large truck carrying the Sutton Family’s luggage—and the Sutton Family themselves—drive away.

Chester Sutton’s hair was a mess. He sat leaning in the back of the truck, hands tucked away, and immediately turned his head when he saw her looking. Mindy Lynch, looking guilty, kept her head bowed low.

Hugh Sutton, still defiant, flipped her off. Mrs. Sutton pointed and cursed at her, but the wind was so strong that Yvonne couldn’t hear a single word.

Only Sandra Sutton gave her a small, apologetic nod.

The truck carrying the Sutton Family drove off, eventually disappearing at the end of the small road. Yvonne Sutton suddenly felt that the town’s air was fresher, and her mood instantly lifted.

She would be staying in the town for several more months. ’From now on, I’m going to be happy every single day and leave all my worries behind.’

After she finished cleaning, Yvonne Sutton went to the kitchen to make breakfast.

Just as she finished, Wyatt Shaw returned from picking up supplies. She helped him unload the vegetables, fruits, and some daily necessities. Then, he went to park the vehicle while she took the breakfast from the kitchen and set it outside.

Wyatt Shaw came back, washed his hands, and they sat down to eat breakfast together. As they ate, they discussed business at the inn.

It was almost April, and the field of rapeseed flowers out front was about to bloom. That would attract large crowds of tourists to the town. With more guests, their inn would get busy.

"Tourists are already starting to book rooms. A lot of the rooms in both our front and back courtyards are already booked up."

Yvonne Sutton nodded. "Zoe Churchill called yesterday. She said if we get too busy, we can have Mrs. Miller find us a couple of helpers."

After they finished eating, they each got busy with their own tasks for a while. Then, Wyatt Shaw took her for a ride on his bike to the rapeseed fields.

The rapeseed plants hadn’t bloomed yet, but the sea of green was beautiful all the same. Wandering through it felt like being submerged in the deep green, and just around the bend, a completely different view would unfold.

April brought the blooming rapeseed, and May, the pomegranate blossoms. June was a little quieter, but July and August brought the summer holidays, with parents bringing their children to visit. This continued until September, when the number of guests finally began to dwindle.

One morning, David Sutton called. "Zoe Churchill had her baby! It’s a girl, but she’s all wrinkly... like a little dark monkey..."

Before he could finish, he was apparently hit, and Mrs. Miller’s voice came over the line: "All newborns look like that! If you had a wife and she gave you a daughter, and you watched her grow up, you wouldn’t be so clueless."

"I don’t want a wife, and I definitely don’t want kids! Too much trouble!"

"Then you can just be an old bachelor."

"Why does that sound so harsh coming from you?"

They had started bickering on the other end, and then the call was inexplicably disconnected.

Wyatt Shaw put down his phone and looked at Yvonne Sutton.

They had been in the small town for half a year. It was time to return to Aethelgard.

"We can come back and stay here for a month or two every year," Wyatt Shaw said, holding Yvonne Sutton in his arms.

Yvonne Sutton looked out at the mountains and water. ’Many places have beautiful scenery, but the reason I love this place so much is probably because of Wyatt.’

She had come here to find him and discovered that he had become a part of this place. He was in the mountains, in the rapeseed fields, in the sea of pomegranate blossoms, and in the white walls and blue tiles of the small town.

"I’m taking the most beautiful scenery here home with me," she said, cupping his face and tilting her head with a smile.

Wyatt Shaw rested his forehead against hers, peppering her with soft kisses.

"You’re the most beautiful scenery in my eyes, too."

「The next day」 They made arrangements for the staff at the inn and then took a car back to Aethelgard.

In the car, Yvonne Sutton looked at the bare middle finger of her left hand and suddenly said to Wyatt Shaw, "You still owe me a ring."

Wyatt Shaw smiled. "I’ll buy you one as soon as we get back."

Yvonne Sutton smiled, too. For the past six months, Wyatt Shaw had been trying to let go of his past, while she had been trying to accept it. It was as if the timing was just perfect; they were both ready to welcome a future that belonged only to the two of them.

After returning to Aethelgard, their first stop was Seacliff Hospital to visit Zoe Churchill. Although she had just given birth, her complexion was very good.

"Mrs. Miller feeds me delicious food every day. I’ve gained over twenty pounds since I got here," Zoe Churchill said with a laugh.

Mrs. Miller was holding the baby, feeding it from a bottle. "When I was pregnant, I gained fifty-five pounds—a full fifty-five! You’ve only gained a little over twenty."

Yvonne Sutton gazed at the tiny baby in Mrs. Miller’s arms. It was so small, diligently sucking on its bottle. And while it was true the baby was a bit dark and wrinkly, it was still adorable.

"Cute, isn’t she?" Mrs. Miller asked.

Yvonne Sutton nodded. She actually quite liked children.

"Then you should have one! Wyatt Shaw is handsome, and you’re beautiful. A child from the two of you would be even more gorgeous."

Yvonne Sutton smiled. She and Wyatt Shaw had actually talked about it.

She loved children, and Wyatt Shaw had said that he only wanted children that were theirs. They had hit it off immediately on the subject and decided to have one. But they also agreed to let it happen naturally, without forcing it.

Seeing that everything was fine with Zoe Churchill, Yvonne Sutton and Wyatt Shaw felt at ease.

As the two of them were coming down from the inpatient wing, they ran into Silas Rhodes. When he saw that Wyatt Shaw and Yvonne were back, he rushed over.

"You’re finally back! Our family is in total chaos!"

"What’s wrong?" Wyatt Shaw asked.

"After you left, your father has been in and out of the hospital constantly. The company is a huge mess, and my dad and I are barely holding it together. And then, a couple of days ago, your mother took a fall and now she’s bedridden!"

"My mom fell?"

"She fell down the stairs. Fractured her lower leg."

Hearing this, Wyatt Shaw and Yvonne Sutton quickly followed Silas Rhodes toward the hospital room.

For the past six months, Yvonne Sutton had called Mrs. Rhodes every few days. She always said everything at home was fine and that they shouldn’t worry, but it turned out so many things had happened.

When they arrived at the VIP ward, they looked through the glass on the door and saw Mrs. Rhodes lying in bed, swiping through her phone. It looked like she was looking at photos, smiling from time to time.

Her hair had gotten much grayer, and she had grown thinner. Her left leg was in a thick cast.

Wyatt Shaw bit his lower lip hard, but his eyes still turned red. He pushed open the door and slowly walked inside.

Silas Rhodes started to follow, but Yvonne Sutton stopped him.

"Let’s not go in. We should let them talk."

Silas Rhodes thought for a moment and agreed. "Okay, you guys wait here. I still have to get to the office."

"Thanks for everything," Yvonne Sutton said, nodding to Silas Rhodes.

"We’re family, no need to say that. I’m off." With that, Silas Rhodes hurried away.

Yvonne Sutton glanced back into the room and saw Wyatt Shaw kneeling before Mrs. Rhodes’s hospital bed.
