Chapter 32: Chapter 32: Called the Police

"Are you senile, Chloe?" Monica Lynch shouted. "Open your eyes and take a good look at us! Can a servant like you afford to offend any of us?"

"I don’t care who you are. All I see is a bunch of you ganging up on a young woman!" As Chloe spoke, she jabbed the broom in their direction a few times.

Monica Lynch’s face turned livid. "Watch it, or I’ll call Silas Rhodes and have you fired!"

"Go on, call him! Call him right now! If our Young Master knew what you were doing here at the Rhodes residence, he wouldn’t let you off!"

"You—!"

Wendy Winters rubbed her forehead, feigning an unwillingness to argue. "Forget it. We meant well, after all."

"Forget it?" Yvonne Sutton scoffed. "This isn’t something you can just decide is over."

With that, she pulled out her phone and dialed a number.

"Hello, I’d like to file a report. That’s right, a group of people are harassing me!"

Seeing that she had actually called the police, Wendy Winters and the other three were stunned.

"Yvonne Sutton, are you insane?!" Monica Lynch shrieked, her eyes wide.

Wendy Winters panicked and turned to Vincent Reed. "Vincent, hurry up and make her call them back! Tell her to cancel the report!"

Vincent Reed hadn’t expected Yvonne Sutton to call the police either. His brow furrowed. "Do you really want to blow this out of proportion? Call them back, now! Don’t make them send officers over!"

Yvonne Sutton’s face was cold as she said, "If Chloe hadn’t rushed over, I dread to think what would have happened to me! You say I’m blowing this out of proportion? Aren’t you the ones who escalated things in the first place?"

"I wouldn’t have let them go too far," Vincent Reed said, his voice lacking conviction.

"Hah. Vincent Reed, after everything that’s happened, don’t you find it laughable to say something like that now? Besides, compared to them, you’re the one who disgusts me most!"

Vincent Reed’s head snapped toward Yvonne Sutton. And just as he expected, he saw nothing but disgust in her eyes.

"Yvonne Sutton, this is ridiculous! We... we were just introducing a friend to you. We didn’t do anything!" Monica Lynch was starting to panic as well.

Yvonne Sutton glanced around and spotted a security camera under the eaves nearby. She turned to Chloe. "Can that camera see what’s happening here?"

"Don’t you worry, Miss Sutton," Chloe said. "The villa has cameras everywhere. There isn’t a single blind spot."

"Can you give the footage to the police when they arrive?"

"Of course." Chloe snorted. "And I can act as a witness for Miss Sutton, too."

"You—you’re a servant for the Rhodes family, not for Yvonne Sutton! Are you an idiot? Even the Rhodes Family wouldn’t lightly offend our families!" Monica Lynch pulled out her phone. "I’m calling Silas Rhodes right now to get you fired!"

Chloe wasn’t the least bit intimidated. "Go on, call him. If our Young Master finds out about this, a trip to the police station will be the least of your worries."

Hearing Chloe’s words, Monica Lynch’s face changed. For whatever reason, she didn’t dare make the call.

"Yvonne Sutton, this is all a misunderstanding. We really didn’t mean any harm. If we made you uncomfortable, we apologize. Let’s just let this go, okay?" Seeing that Yvonne Sutton couldn’t be intimidated, Wendy Winters quickly changed her tune, offering apologies and sweet talk.

Yvonne Sutton folded her arms across her chest and completely ignored her.

"Fine, if you don’t want to, then don’t! It’s not like we can actually force you." Monica Lynch’s bravado had faded. "If you feel offended, then I apologize."

After speaking, she nudged Mason Lynch, who was standing beside her.

Mason Lynch pursed his lips. He clearly had fewer reservations than the others. "I didn’t do anything to you. Call the cops if you want. I don’t care."

Wendy Winters and Monica Lynch were celebrities—public figures. The thing they feared most was a scandal tainting their careers. Both of them grew desperate and looked to Vincent Reed to persuade Yvonne Sutton, but he just stood there with his head bowed, silent.

"Yvonne Sutton, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry! Please, just let us off this one time, won’t you?" Wendy Winters had completely abandoned her pride.

"I’m sorry, too! I’ll never do it again! Please let us go this time?" Monica Lynch quickly begged.

Yvonne Sutton narrowed her eyes. "I’ve been patient time and time again. You’re the ones who forced my hand."

Before long, the police arrived. After getting the details of the incident, hearing Chloe’s testimony, and collecting the surveillance footage, they took Wendy Winters and the other three down to the station.

The moment they were gone, Yvonne Sutton immediately called Claire Lawrence to ask how she could leak the news that Wendy Winters and the others had been taken into custody.

After hearing what had happened, Claire Lawrence let loose a string of curses, then told Yvonne Sutton not to worry—she had a plan.

After hanging up, Chloe brought her a bowl of wonton soup.

"Miss Sutton, you should stay on the island for a few more days. There’s so much to do here."

Yvonne Sutton thanked Chloe first, then said, "I’ve already caused you enough trouble. I shouldn’t impose any longer."

"How could it be trouble? Soon, we’ll all be family."

"Huh?"

"No, I mean, we’re *like* family."

Yvonne Sutton smiled. "I’ve only met Silas Rhodes, but I have a feeling all the members of the Rhodes family are good people."

"Of course they are. Even though the Rhodes family holds a high position in Aethelgard and is a truly prestigious and influential family, we’ve always been low-key and kind to others."

Despite Chloe’s repeated invitations to stay, Yvonne Sutton still left that afternoon.

When she returned to Seacliff Villa, Claire Lawrence was already there waiting for her.

"Yvonne, quick, look! The four of them are trending!" Claire Lawrence waved Yvonne Sutton over, excitedly scrolling through her phone.

Yvonne Sutton sat down next to her and looked at the trending headline: *Wendy Winters and Fiancé Spotted at Police Station, Suspected Detention.*

"Check out the comments! Everyone’s guessing what they did. Debauchery, gambling, murder, arson... someone even suggested they were involved in superstitious rituals. You’ve got to admire the imagination of today’s netizens."

Yvonne Sutton took a peek. The comment section was certainly a sight to behold.

"Haven’t Wendy Winters’s and Monica Lynch’s teams put out a statement?"

"Right now, it’s all just wild speculation online. If they issued a clarification, it would basically be an admission of what they did to you. Besides, they wouldn’t dare issue a careless statement, not when the police are involved."

"Enough about them. By the way, have you heard anything about Stratos Entertainment letting you join the production?"

At the mention of this, Claire Lawrence’s eyes lit up.

"Guess what?"

"What?"

"They agreed to let me stay on for Director Sherman’s film."

Yvonne Sutton was delighted. "That’s wonderful!"

"Hmph. It’s probably because that starlet they’re pushing went to audition and Director Sherman wasn’t impressed. That’s the only reason they’re letting me stay."

"What did Director Sherman say?"

"Director Sherman didn’t say much. Just told me to focus on my performance."

"That’s good."

"But the company won’t be able to get me an assistant for a few days. Why don’t you come with me?"

"You want me to be your assistant?"

"Just for a few days. It won’t get in the way of your wedding."

’I’ve already had a falling out with Vincent Reed and his friends, and I definitely won’t be going back to be Wendy Winters’s private doctor. Helping Claire out for a few days shouldn’t be a problem.’

As the two were talking, a car pulled up across the street.

Vincent Reed got out first, followed by Wendy Winters and Mrs. Reed.

Mrs. Reed’s face was thunderous. The moment she saw Yvonne Sutton, she stormed over.

"Yvonne Sutton! Did the Reed family give you too much face before? You sordid, worthless slut! How dare you call the police? Wendy is carrying my grandson, a child of the Reed family! If anything happens to her, I will not let you off!"

Yvonne Sutton snorted and looked at Vincent Reed. "You’d better get your mother out of here, or don’t blame me for what I’m about to say."
