Mrs. Miller busily wiped their table and chairs, adding that the restaurant was small and she was afraid they wouldn’t have anything to their liking.

"Twenty skewers of lamb, twenty skewers of beef, twenty skewers of pork belly, grilled squid... uh, maybe a little less of that, just ten skewers. And this beef tongue—this stuff is delicious—twenty skewers. Oysters are good, bring us a plate of those. And..."

Mr. Rhodes had already started ordering. Seeing he was about to continue, Daisy Shaw quickly tapped him.

"That’s enough."

"This is barely anything! I still want grilled pig’s trotters. Yes, we absolutely have to have those."

"Dad, that’s plenty," Yvonne Sutton said with a smile.

Seeing that Yvonne had spoken, Mr. Rhodes obediently handed over the menu.

"I’m done ordering. Your turn."

The corner of Yvonne’s mouth twitched. ’So he ordered all of that for himself?’

Daisy Shaw shot him a glare, then turned to Mrs. Miller. "Sorry to trouble you. Please add some vegetable dishes as well—definitely vegetables."

Mrs. Miller nodded with a smile. "Of course. It’ll be just a moment."

Mr. Rhodes looked around with fascination. Nearby, there were stalls selling braised pork, roasted chicken, and roasted goose. "This place is great, really great. If I could live here every day..."

"You wouldn’t last two days before you ended up in the hospital," Daisy Shaw snorted.

Mr. Rhodes just chuckled, not the least bit offended. "Why are you wearing sunglasses this late at night?"

Daisy Shaw glanced left and right. "I’m a big star. I have fans everywhere."

"No one would have recognized you, but you’re acting so furtive, it’d be hard *not* to notice you."

"You’re the one who’s furtive."

The two bickered for a moment. They noticed a few students staring in their direction, looking like they were eager to approach.

"Mom, let me take you upstairs to see Wyatt’s bedroom."

"Oh, yes, yes."

Yvonne led the way, and Daisy Shaw quickly covered her face as she followed her inside. Before heading up, she said a word to Mrs. Miller, who told them to make themselves at home.

When they reached the second floor and opened the door at the top of the stairs, a clean and tidy little suite came into view.

Yvonne led Daisy into Wyatt’s bedroom. "When he came back to visit while he was studying abroad, he’d stay here. Mr. and Mrs. Miller kept the room for him."

Yvonne turned around and saw Daisy still standing in the doorway, her expression a mixture of complexity and sorrow.

She went over, pulled Daisy inside, and had her sit on Wyatt’s bed.

’When Wyatt came back to the country during his studies abroad, he didn’t return to the Rhodes family home, but came here instead. There must be some kind of rift between him and his parents.’ Even now, she could sense the distance between Wyatt and his parents, especially with Mr. Rhodes. The two of them could hardly meet or be alone together, or they would start arguing after just a few words.

Daisy Shaw stroked the desk Wyatt had used, the books on it, and the pillow and bedding. Her eyes reddened uncontrollably.

"The year Wyatt ran away from home... he actually secretly sent us a letter a month later. His tone was harsh, but it let us know he was okay. That’s the kind of child he is—sensible, knows his limits, and considerate of his parents. But later, when he went abroad, he didn’t contact us for a full four years. He didn’t even come home when he returned to the country, and he didn’t let us know he was back. Later, even though he did come home, but..."

Daisy let out a long sigh. "There’s a misunderstanding between us. One that can never be resolved in this lifetime."

Yvonne frowned. "What kind of misunderstanding?"

’How could it be something that could never be resolved?’

Daisy gave a bitter smile. "No... I don’t want to bring that person up."

Mrs. Miller called from downstairs, saying the skewers were ready.

"Mom, let’s go downstairs," Yvonne said.

Daisy shook her head. "Can I stay in this room alone for a little while?"

Yvonne nodded. "Then I’ll head down first."

"Okay."

Yvonne left the small room and walked to the top of the stairs. She remembered something and turned back to find Daisy, only to see her clutching the pillow Wyatt had slept on, crying.

Yvonne paused for a moment, then took out her phone and snapped a photo.

’She didn’t believe any misunderstanding was truly unresolvable. Not if everyone would just open up and talk it out.’

Downstairs, Mr. Rhodes had already started eating. He was genuinely enjoying himself, with skewers in his left hand and a pig’s trotter in his right. Yvonne couldn’t resist taking out her phone to snap a picture of him. He saw her and even told her to take a few more.

"When I’m on a diet, I can look at the photos to savor the memory."

Yvonne smiled and took several more pictures. Just then, her phone buzzed.

She opened WeChat and saw a message from Lazy Cat.

InvincibleLazyCat: Sis, what a shame you didn’t come today. By the way, all my check-ups went well. The baby has a heartbeat now!

Yvonne Sutton: Congratulations.

InvincibleLazyCat: Sis, Wyatt saw the baby today. He really likes it.

Yvonne Sutton: Is that so?

InvincibleLazyCat: He might agree to let me keep the baby.

Yvonne Sutton: You know, you can make that decision yourself.

InvincibleLazyCat: How about you help me convince Wyatt to let me keep the baby, Sis? Hmmm? Worst case, I’ll have the baby call you ’Big Momma,’ how about that?

Yvonne stared at the line of text and couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

Mr. Rhodes, his mouth slick with grease, asked, "What’s so funny?"

Yvonne said, "A girl is claiming she’s pregnant with Wyatt’s baby."

Mr. Rhodes was in the middle of gnawing on a pig’s trotter and nearly choked when he heard that. "That... that’s impossible!"

Yvonne nodded. "I agree, it’s impossible."

"You have to believe in Wyatt. He’s not the kind of person with no morals, no integrity."

Yvonne smiled. "Don’t worry, I trust him."

Hearing Yvonne say that, Mr. Rhodes relaxed and went back to his pig’s trotter.

"You can only eat half of that. No more."

Lazy Cat sent another message, saying they were already back in Aethelgard. She provocatively asked if Yvonne didn’t know, adding that Wyatt must not have told her.

Yvonne raised an eyebrow. ’Wyatt’s back?’

’The fact that he was back and hadn’t told her... that actually did make her a little angry.’

Throughout the meal, Mr. Rhodes ate with particular joy and satisfaction. Daisy Shaw didn’t eat much, but being able to spend time in the room her son had lived in allowed her to release some of her pent-up emotions, and she seemed much more relaxed.

The family’s driver first took Mr. and Mrs. Rhodes back to the old family estate, then drove Yvonne home.

The three of them chatted and laughed all the way, in high spirits.

「Back at the villa, it was already very late.」

From a distance, she saw someone crouching by her front gate, head bowed low. Just as she was wondering whether to call security, the person seemed to sense something and looked up in her direction.

’It was Vincent Reed again.’

Yvonne felt a wave of annoyance. She took a deep breath and continued walking toward her house.

Before she could reach him, Vincent Reed stood up and ran toward her, looking impatient.

"Yvonne, Wyatt lied to you about going on a business trip, didn’t he? Where did he say he was going?"

Yvonne frowned. "What are you trying to say?"

"He’s in Aethelgard right now. Did you know that?" Vincent stared intently at Yvonne.

Yvonne pressed her lips together and said nothing.

When she didn’t respond, Vincent assumed she didn’t believe him. He quickly took out his phone and pulled up a photo. "I was at the Azure Grand Hotel for a work dinner tonight. After it ended, I saw him in the lobby. He had his arm around a woman, and they were acting very intimate."

Vincent showed her the photo. In it, Wyatt was dressed in a sharp suit, his aura cool and severe. Though the picture was a bit blurry, his face was still handsome. A petite and cute woman was nestled in his arms, her lips pursed at that moment as if she were pouting coquettishly.

"I saw them go up to the sixteenth floor. I even secretly followed them and personally saw Wyatt take that woman into a hotel room with his arm around her."
