I Grind to Martial Saint
Chapter 102: Encounter
Nine Peaks Mountain.
A figure on a swift horse galloped over.
Upon reaching the foot of the mountain, Han Yuan dismounted. After finding a hidden spot to tie up his horse, he headed into the mountains.
It was already afternoon.
The sun was gradually sinking in the west.
Han Yuan stood at the foot of the mountain and observed for a moment.
According to the Feiying Tribe’s intelligence, the ancient tomb suspected of housing Evil Spirits was located at the highest point of Nine Peaks Mountain.
There was a grave robber’s tunnel there. Following it down would lead directly into the tomb.
Han Yuan quickly determined his bearings and entered the mountains, making his way toward the highest peak.
It had to be said.
Nine Peaks Mountain was truly rugged. It was nearly impassable for ordinary people; a single misstep could lead to broken limbs, and if you were unlucky, you could even lose your life.
But Han Yuan’s Martial Arts were profound and his Lightweight Skill exceptional, allowing him to scale some of the sheer cliffs directly.
An hour later, as Han Yuan was reconfirming his direction of ascent...
A rustling sound echoed from all around.
Several men from the Martial World, holding Weapons and radiating ill intent, appeared silently and surrounded him.
"Kid, this is a robbery!"
"Hand over all your money, nice and easy."
A man with a scabby head, carrying a long saber, sneered.
The others also had vicious looks in their eyes.
"You... don’t you recognize me?"
Han Yuan’s expression was strange.
He hadn’t expected that someone would actually dare to rob him near Cangshui County Town.
"Who the hell do you think you are?"
"Hurry up and hand over the money."
"And that saber of yours, toss it over here."
"Or we’ll chop you into mincemeat and feed you to the tigers!"
The scabby-headed man said viciously.
’Looks like I’m still not famous enough.’
Han Yuan shook his head helplessly.
The next moment, his figure flashed, and he appeared directly in front of the scabby-headed man. His right leg shot up like lightning in a sweeping kick that slammed into the man’s waist and abdomen!
BAM!
The scabby-headed man had no time to react; he just felt himself flying through the air.
The other Martial World Wanderers’ eyes widened in sudden terror.
They saw the man’s leg, like a Horse-Cutting Saber, slice the scabby-headed man clean in two!
’What kind of terrifyingly ferocious power would that take?’
The gazes of these Rangers turned to ones of horror and fear.
The next moment, with a tacit understanding, they all turned to flee.
But how could Han Yuan let them escape? He executed the Seven Stars Step.
Like a fierce wind scattering autumn leaves.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!!!
With a few muffled thuds.
He had killed each of the Rangers with a single kick, shattering their hearts.
As was his usual practice, Han Yuan searched the bodies first.
However, these guys were clearly dirt-poor. Han Yuan couldn’t even find ten taels of silver on them.
"So poor..."
Han Yuan grumbled to himself.
He continued on his way toward the summit of Nine Peaks Mountain.
Before long, he arrived at the highest peak of Nine Peaks Mountain.
The ground was covered in many jumbled footprints, a sign that many people had been here.
Following the footprints, Han Yuan quickly found a dark grave robber’s tunnel.
The tunnel opening was quite large, big enough for even Han Yuan’s massive frame to enter with ease.
Confident in his superior skills, he leaped straight down.
When he landed, he found himself in a dim, subterranean passage.
He knew he would be entering a tomb before he set out, so he had specially prepared a candle.
After lighting it, the dim tomb passage became somewhat illuminated.
Han Yuan didn’t understand the layout of the tomb, so he simply walked straight ahead.
As he walked, he suddenly saw a withered figure huddled in a corner. It lifted a pale face stained with bloody tears and looked at him with a sinister grin.
"What are you grinning at?"
"You like grinning so much?"
"It pisses me off just looking at you!"
Han Yuan’s expression was impatient. Like a bully kicking a beggar, he viciously kicked out.
BAM!
The withered figure probably hadn’t expected this man to be completely unafraid, even daring to attack it. For a moment, it failed to react.
Han Yuan now possessed the strength of a whale. His kick landed, and the Evil Spirit let out a piercing shriek.
Its brains splattered.
It then dissolved into a wisp of black energy.
"This young brother has truly impressive skills."
Just then, a voice came from the tomb passage behind him.
Han Yuan turned to look.
He saw an old Daoist in a dark blue Daoist Robe, holding a Duster, walk in.
"And you are, Daoist Master?"
Han Yuan asked.
"This humble Daoist is Xuan Yunzi."
"I am a Wandering Daoist. While passing through this mountain range, I sensed the overwhelming resentment here and came to investigate."
The old Daoist said softly.
"I see."
"Could it be that you, Daoist Master, are one of the Abnormal People?"
Han Yuan felt that this old Daoist’s aura was somewhat different.
"Indeed."
Xuan Yunzi nodded lightly.
"Then that’s perfect."
"I am Zhang Cang. I heard that Evil Spirits were haunting this ancient tomb, so I thought I’d come and kill them."
"I didn’t expect to meet someone with the same goal."
Han Yuan said, cupping his fist.
’I can’t quite figure out this old Daoist’s background.’
’But when you’re out and about, it’s always wise to be cautious.’
"So, it is Brother Zhang," Xuan Yunzi nodded.
He then extended an invitation: "Brother Zhang, why don’t we join forces and first slay the Evil Spirits in this tomb?"
"Of course. We must not let them continue to harm the world."
Han Yuan said in a deep voice.
Having reached an agreement, the two began to explore the tomb passage.
Before long, they arrived in a tomb chamber.
The chamber was empty, save for some murals on the walls.
"Judging by the style of these murals, they should be from the Great Yin Kingdom."
Xuan Yunzi said softly.
"The Great Yin Kingdom?"
Han Yuan had heard of the Great Yin Kingdom.
Several hundred years ago, before the Great Ling Dynasty had unified this land, there were more than a dozen kingdoms fighting and warring with each other. The Great Yin Kingdom was one of them.
However, this kingdom was very strange; witchcraft and superstitious arts were extremely popular. They would often kill hundreds of people at a time for sacrificial rituals as offerings to the heavens. This eventually led to widespread grievances and constant public uprisings, causing the nation’s strength to dwindle until it was finally conquered by a neighboring kingdom.
Geographically speaking,
the Jianghe Province area was indeed the former territory of the Great Yin Kingdom.
So, it wasn’t strange at all to find a tomb from the Great Yin Kingdom here.
"The sacrificial burials of the Great Yin Kingdom were always cruel. It’s normal for the overwhelming resentment in their tombs to give rise to Evil Spirits."
Xuan Yunzi continued.
Han Yuan said nothing, merely nodding in agreement.
He continued to look at the murals, which all depicted scenes of sacrificial ceremonies.
And these scenes were exceptionally bloody and horrifying, basically showing humans being used for sacrificial burials.
There was beheading, live burial, and even being boiled alive in hot oil...
The contents of these murals were so terrifying it was like looking into Hell itself.
"No wonder they were overthrown."
Han Yuan couldn’t help but shake his head.
"Indeed... The Great Yin Kingdom was truly savage."
Xuan Yunzi nodded.
After looking at the murals, the two of them passed through the chamber and headed deeper into the tomb.
This time, they saw several corpses.
Their deaths had also been cruel; their internal organs had all been hollowed out, and their faces were twisted in agony.
"The price of greed."
Seeing the bodies, Xuan Yunzi merely said this one phrase and paid them no further mind.
A glint, however, flickered in Han Yuan’s eyes.
But he didn’t say anything more and continued walking forward.
