I Grind to Martial Saint
Chapter 103: Tomb Chamber
After leaving the empty tomb chamber, they entered another dark and dilapidated passageway.
Elder Xuan Yun, a man of great skill and courage, walked directly in front, with Han Yuan following behind.
As they made their way through the passage.
A shadowy figure suddenly emerged from a corner, hurling a glint of cold light.
"Watch out!" Han Yuan yelled.
Elder Xuan Yun was at the very front.
Naturally, the glint of cold light was aimed at him.
Moreover, the passage was too narrow for Han Yuan to burst forward and shield Elder Xuan Yun in time.
So Han Yuan didn’t move a single step.
But Elder Xuan Yun was a veteran of the Martial World. With a flick of his duster, a Wind Blade materialized from thin air and shot forward.
CLANG!
The Wind Blade struck the glint of cold light, knocking it off course.
THUNK!
A dart embedded itself deep in the left-hand wall.
The shadowy figure moved with incredible speed, however, vanishing in the blink of an eye.
"Elder, are you alright?"
Han Yuan stepped forward, concerned.
"I’m fine."
"These Martial World Wanderers... they never change."
"Trapped down here in this tomb, and all they can think about is murder and robbery."
Elder Xuan Yun shook his head.
"So you don’t know who that was, Elder?"
"I thought he had some grudge against you."
Han Yuan said quietly.
"I’m just a Wandering Daoist. What kind of enemies would I have?"
Elder Xuan Yun shook his head. "Never mind. Let’s not worry about him for now."
Han Yuan thought for a moment, then asked, "Why don’t I take the lead, then?"
"No need... I can handle these little tricks."
Elder Xuan Yun refused Han Yuan’s kind offer.
Since he insisted, Han Yuan didn’t press the issue.
However, the passage ahead forked to the left and right.
Elder Xuan Yun examined the paths for a moment before choosing the one on the left.
Han Yuan knew nothing of such things, so he could only follow behind Elder Xuan Yun.
Before long, the passage came to an end.
It opened into an ancient, gloomy tomb chamber.
Elder Xuan Yun entered first.
When Han Yuan saw that he was safe, he followed.
In the middle of the chamber was a massive earthen pit.
Xuan Yun Daoist seemed quite curious upon seeing the pit and strode over to it.
Han Yuan was about to follow when a sense of dread seized his heart. At the same instant, he heard a rush of intense pressure from above.
His reaction was lightning-fast. He looked up to see a massive black shadow plummeting toward him.
With a low grunt, Han Yuan thrust his right fist straight up.
BAM!
The entire chamber shook.
Han Yuan’s feet sank into the ground, and his right arm went numb.
The dark figure was sent flying by Han Yuan’s blow, landing several meters away.
RUMBLE.
The chamber shook again as the dark figure hit the ground.
Han Yuan finally got a clear look at it.
It was a zombie, its muscles withered and black, its hair sparse.
The zombie’s mouth was full of sharp fangs, its eyes shot with blood.
It roared at Han Yuan and shot forward like a beam of black light!
"You’re asking to die!"
Han Yuan snorted. Power erupted from his feet, and he shot forward with terrifying speed, ramming straight into it.
The two figures collided with savage force!
Like two cars colliding at high speed, the impact unleashed a powerful shockwave of air.
The blackened zombie was knocked back several steps, its shoulder a mangled mess of flesh. It let out a continuous, guttural roar.
Han Yuan’s expression was savage. Moving like lightning, he gathered a torrent of Qi Power in his right fist and brought it down on the zombie’s head like a great hammer.
The explosive force of his punch whistled through the air.
The blackened zombie actually managed to react, raising its right arm to block.
"Break!"
Han Yuan roared.
His Black Whale Sea-Covering Qi, having reached the Perfection stage, erupted with terrifying force!
BANG!
The blackened zombie shrieked as Han Yuan’s blow completely shattered its arm.
But Han Yuan’s assault was far from over. He executed the Giant Spirit Monument-Opening Hand with his left, bringing it down with a sharp, violent gust of wind.
He intended to smash the blackened zombie’s skull wide open!
BAM!
But the zombie’s head was clearly tougher than Han Yuan had imagined.
His palm strike felt like hitting a solid iron ball; it only managed to leave a deep dent in the zombie’s skull.
Although he hadn’t managed to shatter its head,
the zombie’s neck couldn’t withstand such terrifying power and exploded.
The zombie’s head caved in.
"So you think you can ambush me?!"
"Fighting dirty, are we?!"
"Well, I’m going to teach you a lesson today!"
Grinning savagely, Han Yuan unleashed a frantic barrage of Giant Spirit Monument-Opening Hand strikes.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Again and again.
He savagely hammered the zombie’s head down into its own chest cavity.
Finally, he drew his Cold Blade and unleashed Shattering Wind Slash!
A flash of cold light carried a vicious Sword Qi with it.
SCHLICK!
Han Yuan sliced the blackened zombie clean in two.
Behind him, Elder Xuan Yun was utterly stunned by the sight.
His duster was frozen in mid-air; it seemed he had been about to step in and help Han Yuan.
He never expected that his help wouldn’t be needed at all.
Moreover, the brutal, unrestrained aura Han Yuan had displayed had deeply shaken Elder Xuan Yun.
"Elder."
"What are you doing?"
Having dealt with the zombie, Han Yuan turned to see Elder Xuan Yun holding his duster aloft, and asked in confusion.
"I was about to help you."
Elder Xuan Yun put away his duster, looking a little embarrassed.
"There was no need for you to step in, Elder."
"It was just a zombie. I can handle that much."
Han Yuan said gravely.
"That zombie was no ordinary creature... As hard as iron, it was definitely an Evil Spirit of the Fierce Spirit Level."
Elder Xuan Yun remarked with feeling.
He had never seen any Inner Breath Martial Artist display the kind of power Han Yuan had just unleashed.
"Its head was pretty tough, I’ll give it that."
Han Yuan smiled but didn’t continue the conversation, changing the subject instead. "Elder, what’s with this pit?"
Xuan Yun Daoist sighed. "Go have a look for yourself."
Curious, Han Yuan walked over.
The bottom of the pit was densely packed with ghastly white bones.
Skulls, spines, hands, feet...
"So it’s a sacrificial burial pit."
Han Yuan said with a frown.
"The Great Yin Kingdom was fond of this sort of thing. A true offense against the heavens."
"No wonder a place like this would spawn a zombie."
Elder Xuan Yun shook his head.
Han Yuan gave him a thoughtful glance.
After inspecting the burial pit, they found nothing else of interest in the chamber.
Han Yuan and Elder Xuan Yun set off once more.
"According to the customs of the Great Yin Kingdom, the main chamber is always near the sacrificial burial chamber."
"We need to be extra careful."
Elder Xuan Yun cautioned.
"Don’t worry, Elder."
Han Yuan nodded.
In fact, Elder Xuan Yun’s guess was correct.
After leaving the sacrificial chamber and traversing another passage, they did indeed arrive in a spacious tomb.
The chamber’s walls were covered in murals, and its corners were guarded by statues of sentinels holding iron halberds.
In the center of the room sat an enormous coffin.
"Elder, is the Evil Spirit inside that coffin?"
Han Yuan stared at the massive coffin, his expression grave.
The entire coffin was a dark, crimson red, its surface carved with bizarre-looking runes.
