Chapter 150: Chapter 150: Must Find a Way to Leave Him!

Joshua Lawson stood outside Sophie Hughes’s emergency room, anxiously pacing back and forth like a little adult.

Tristan Lawson, on the other hand, was waiting outside Noelle Sutton’s emergency room.

Noelle Sutton had collapsed from a high fever brought on by distress. Before long, she groggily opened her eyes. Seeing her awake, her attending physician said anxiously, "Ms. Sutton, how can you be so careless with your health? With such a serious illness, how could you let yourself get drenched and collapse from a high fever! You must be hospitalized for treatment!"

In her hazy state, Noelle Sutton remembered collapsing into Tristan Lawson’s arms.

’So, was it Tristan Lawson who brought me to the hospital?’

’If he’s still outside, he could easily find out about my cancer.’

’If he knew, he would never let me go out and work. I can’t let him find out.’

’I have to find a way to leave him as soon as possible!’

But she didn’t have her phone and couldn’t speak to answer the doctor. Panicked, she gestured with her hand as if she were writing.

The doctor handed Noelle Sutton his pen and paper. Weakly, Noelle wrote, "Doctor, I’m sorry, I can’t be hospitalized right now. My husband is outside. If he finds out I have cancer, he won’t be able to handle it. I’m begging you... please help me keep it a secret."

This was the only way she could appeal to the doctor’s emotions and convince him to continue hiding her condition.

The doctor sighed. "But you’re running out of time. You can’t keep avoiding this. Your family will find out sooner or later, and they will worry about your illness. It’s better to start treatment early. Think about it—the worst-case outcome is the same, but with treatment, there’s at least a sliver of hope."

’She knew he was right.’

’She was already planning to go abroad. She had decided to go there for a thorough check-up to see if the success rate of treatment could be improved.’

’At first, she didn’t want Tristan Lawson and Joshua Lawson to know because she thought they wouldn’t care, which would only hurt her more.’

’But now, she had even more reason not to let them find out.’

’As for everyone else, she didn’t want to make them worry.’

She continued writing on the paper: "Thank you. A friend recommended a doctor abroad. I might go there soon to see if the success rate for surgery can be improved. For now, I’m begging you, please help me keep this from my family, okay?"

The doctor had helped her hide it before. He had agreed because he couldn’t bear the thought of a beautiful young woman who was also mute having to face a terminal illness.

But her repeated hospitalizations were always triggered by other minor ailments.

The doctor really wanted to refuse her and persuade her to stay in the hospital to rest and recuperate, lest her condition worsen.

But looking at her, he just didn’t have the heart to say no and agreed to keep her secret once more.

She breathed a sigh of relief, returned the pen and paper to the doctor, and closed her eyes, falling asleep moments later.

Noelle Sutton had only fainted from a high fever. Since she was currently refusing treatment for her cancer, the medical staff wheeled her out.

Tristan Lawson hurried over to meet them.

Seeing his mother being brought out, Joshua Lawson followed.

"Doctor, my wife is usually in good health. Why did she suddenly collapse? It’s not serious, is it?"

Tristan Lawson had mentioned once before that Noelle Sutton’s complexion looked poor.

She had always looked delicate, but lately, she seemed genuinely weak.

The doctor said coldly, "Her clothes were soaked when she arrived. She caught a chill, which led to a high fever and her collapse. As her husband, you should be taking better care of your wife and paying more attention to her health. How could you let her stay in wet clothes?"

Tristan Lawson was mortified by the doctor’s words. When he found her collapsed, his first and only thought was to rush her to the hospital; he hadn’t considered anything else.

’Besides, it was only for a little while. How could she catch a chill and collapse from a high fever so quickly?’

He furrowed his brows.

When Joshua Lawson heard that his mother was fine and had just a high fever, he stopped worrying. ’Compared to her, Sophie’s condition is much more serious.’

Noelle Sutton was taken to a hospital room.

Tristan Lawson followed and stood at the door to the room, making a call to Mrs. Miller.

"Bring a change of clothes for my wife. A complete set, inside and out."

"Understood."

Tristan Lawson entered the room, sat by the head of the bed, and reached out to feel Noelle Sutton’s forehead.

Her temperature had gone down a little, but she still looked extremely weak.

’He couldn’t tell if she was asleep or still unconscious.’

He took her hand, and his heart clenched as he saw the bruises on her wrist.

His fingertips gently caressed her wrist, and the knot between his brows deepened.

’There was nothing going on between him and Sophie Hughes.’

’He had thought that after seven years of marriage, she understood the kind of man he was.’

’He hardly had any women around him, let alone mess around and have affairs.’

’When she woke up, he would explain everything about him and Sophie Hughes to her.’

’He wanted to put an end to these constant fights; they made him miserable and made her suffer.’

’And he certainly wouldn’t allow other men to be around her.’

Tristan Lawson gently placed her hand back under the covers. He took the necklace from Wyatt Yates out of his suit pocket, glanced at it, then put it back.

’He had some nerve, trying to steal his woman!’

’It was time to deal with the Yates Group.’

"Dad."

Joshua Lawson walked in and called out to him.

Tristan Lawson put a finger to his lips, shushing him gently before saying in a low voice, "Quiet down. Don’t disturb your mother."

Joshua Lawson glanced at Noelle Sutton on the bed. ’It’s just a high fever, isn’t it? It’s the most minor illness. Does Dad really need to be so careful?’

’The cut on Sophie’s forehead got bumped and started bleeding so much again. She’s the one who’s in serious condition!’

’And besides, wasn’t it all Mom’s fault anyway?’

’Sophie is a relative, but Mom has never liked her. Sophie always puts up with Mom’s attitude, and when she knew Mom was coming back, she even wanted to apologize to her.’

’But Mom has never once been nice to Sophie.’

"Dad, Sophie’s out. She’s in the room next door. Aren’t you going to go see her?"

Worried that talking in the room would disturb Noelle Sutton’s rest, Tristan Lawson pulled Joshua Lawson outside and gently closed the door.

The moment the door closed, Noelle Sutton slowly opened her eyes.

’Just now, when Joshua Lawson had called for his dad, she had woken up.’

’Tristan Lawson had pretended to be worried about waking her, but the moment he heard Joshua Lawson say Sophie Hughes was out, he immediately rushed off to see her.’

Tristan Lawson and Joshua Lawson walked a few steps away. Tristan said in a heavy tone, "Your mother is sick too. Why aren’t you thinking about staying with her, hmm?"

"Dad, it’s just a fever. It’s a minor illness. Sophie is in much worse condition."

Tristan Lawson’s expression darkened.

"When you had a fever, your mother stayed up all night watching over you. Did she ever dismiss it as just a ’minor illness’?"

Joshua Lawson lowered his head, fidgeting with the hem of his shirt as he mumbled, "But I’m just a kid."

The corner of Tristan Lawson’s lip twitched a few times. ’He had truly failed to raise his son properly.’

’It wasn’t appropriate to scold him harshly right outside the hospital room. He would have to have a serious talk with him once they got home.’

Sophie Hughes was standing at her own doorway and heard every word Tristan Lawson said to Joshua Lawson.

’In the end, Tristan Lawson’s heart still sided with that mute.’

’She wouldn’t tolerate it any longer!’
