Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Refusing to Live a Good Life, Only Causing Me Trouble

Noelle Sutton was nowhere to be found, and Joshua was still in the hospital with no one to look after him.

In the end, Tristan Lawson couldn’t rest easy.

He rushed to the airport. Sophie Hughes was waiting for him in the VIP lounge, and it was almost time to board. They left the lounge together.

Noelle Sutton had just gotten off her plane.

As she walked out with the crowd, she spotted Tristan Lawson and Sophie Hughes in a single glance.

The airport was crowded, so Tristan Lawson pushed a suitcase with one hand while his other arm was wrapped around Sophie Hughes’s side, shielding her as if he were afraid someone might bump into her.

Noelle truly found it hard to believe that this was how a nephew treated his aunt.

To any onlooker, they looked like an intimate couple.

Noelle was swept forward by the crowd, unable to control her pace, as Tristan and Sophie entered through another boarding gate.

Noelle tore her gaze away and walked straight toward the exit.

She felt more and more that her life was a complete joke.

She didn’t dare to have any more expectations for this marriage.

As soon as Tristan Lawson and Sophie Hughes got off the plane, they headed straight for the hospital.

Tristan Lawson reached the door to the hospital room when his phone rang. It was a call from Secretary Shaw.

He looked up and said to Sophie, "You go on in. I need to take this call."

"Okay."

Sophie Hughes pushed open the door to the room.

When Joshua Lawson saw her, he burst out crying with a WAH and held his arms out to her.

Sophie let go of her suitcase, hurried over, sat on the edge of the bed, and pulled Joshua into her arms, gently patting his back.

"There, there, Joshua. Don’t cry."

Mrs. Miller stood to the side, her expression darkening as she grew more and more worried for Noelle.

’How could Noelle leave Joshua at a time like this?’

’Isn’t this just giving Sophie Hughes the perfect opportunity?’

Meanwhile, Tristan Lawson, who was taking the call outside the door, had a face as dark as ink.

"What did you say? My wife booked a flight to Cygnus?"

"Yes, we tracked her itinerary. She went to Silverwood, then returned to Glenwater, and boarded a plane there. By now, she’s probably been in Cygnus for almost two hours."

Tristan calculated the timing. ’It meant Noelle arrived in Cygnus just as Sophie and I were flying back.’

’What is she doing in Cygnus?’

’I told her I’d only be gone for two or three days. How can she be so unreasonable, leaving Joshua all alone in the hospital?’

’She’s getting more and more out of line.’

Tristan’s voice deepened. "Keep investigating. I want to know where she’s staying."

After hanging up, Tristan walked into the hospital room.

When Mrs. Miller saw that Tristan had returned as well, her expression soured even more.

’Why is Mr. Lawson always joined at the hip with Sophie Hughes...?’

Joshua was nestled in Sophie’s arms, still complaining about Noelle.

"My mom is just too much! I had surgery, and she didn’t even come to the hospital to stay with me. Sophie is way better. She came all the way from so far away just to be with me."

Mrs. Miller quickly interjected, "Young Master, it’s not that your mother didn’t stay with you. She was with you all night last night. She only went home this morning after your aunt arrived. When she left, she was pale and looked completely exhausted."

Mrs. Miller said this deliberately, intending for Tristan Lawson to hear it.

Tristan’s thin lips tightened. In a low voice, he said, "Mrs. Miller, come outside with me."

With that, Tristan led the way out.

Mrs. Miller followed close behind.

Tristan stared at Mrs. Miller, his tone mild. "When my wife came home this morning, was there anything unusual about her?"

"Other than looking unwell, I didn’t notice anything else unusual. She said she was craving crystal buns from the Felicity Tower and left, but she never came back. If I had to say there was something strange..."

Mrs. Miller trailed off, hesitant to continue.

Tristan’s handsome features turned cold and stern, his tone laced with anger. "Spit it out, all at once!"

"It felt like she wasn’t in a good mood."

Mrs. Miller was just a housekeeper; she was angry but didn’t dare to speak her mind.

Tristan was clearly impatient. "What’s the difference between you saying that and saying nothing at all?"

Mrs. Miller felt helpless. ’Isn’t Sophie Hughes the real reason for all this? Even a housekeeper like me can see it, but he himself can’t seem to notice.’

"Sir, why don’t you ask your sister? She was the one who looked after the young master during the day. His mother only came over at night."

"That’s enough. You can go home for now. I’m here with Joshua."

After Mrs. Miller left, Tristan took out his phone. Just as he was about to call Tessa Lawson, he heard Sophie’s voice from inside the room.

"Tristan."

Tristan put his phone away and went back into the room.

Sophie stood up and said, "Joshua hasn’t eaten dinner. I’ll go get him something to eat."

"I’ll go."

It was already late, almost nine o’clock.

Tristan didn’t go far. He chose a restaurant near the hospital and got takeout for three people.

Neither he nor Sophie had had a chance to eat dinner, so this was a good opportunity for them to eat together.

Children get emotionally fragile when they’re sick and in the hospital. Although Mrs. Miller had taken good care of him, Joshua had been upset without any family by his side and had refused to eat.

Now, with Tristan and Sophie there with him, he didn’t complain that the food wasn’t made by his mother.

Perhaps because his mood had improved, the food tasted delicious, and he ate a full bowl.

Not long after dinner, Joshua got sleepy and soon fell asleep.

Sophie gently pulled Tristan out of the hospital room.

"Tristan, I don’t think this can go on. Joshua is still so young; it’s not good for him to be without his mother. I feel like there might be some problems between you two as a couple. Noelle seems to be upset about something."

Sophie’s face was filled with worry.

"What problems could there be? She’s the one who won’t just enjoy the good life she has and insists on causing trouble for me."

Tristan was feeling frustrated.

’I’ve tried coaxing her, I’ve said all the right things.’

’I’ve had to bring her back home time and time again. My patience with her has reached its limit.’

"Tristan!"

Sophie’s tone grew a little more serious. "Women need companionship. You’re always so busy with work, so you must neglect her quite a bit. Listen to me: go find her. Find her and have a proper talk. Don’t worry about Joshua. I’m here."

Tristan’s lips twitched. After a moment, he said, "Alright. I’ll have to trouble you with Joshua, then."

Tristan turned and left.

Sophie watched his departing figure and took a deep breath.

’I’ve been back for a few days now, but it seems like Tristan has no intention of getting a divorce.’

’Looks like I’ll have to think of another way...’

Tristan had just walked out of the hospital when Secretary Shaw called.

"CEO Lawson, we’ve found the hotel where your wife is staying."

"Send me the address. And book the next flight to Cygnus."

Secretary Shaw paused for a second, his tone concerned. "Didn’t you just get back from Cygnus? Can your body handle all this back-and-forth travel?"

"Stop wasting my time."

Tristan hung up on him.

Secretary Shaw quickly booked a flight for Tristan and sent him the flight information along with his wife’s address.

Tristan hailed a cab outside the hospital and headed for the airport.

Just as he got into the car, he remembered he still needed to call Tessa Lawson and ask about Noelle’s situation.
