I Transmigrated Into A Goddess Body In Another World: But I'm a Man
Chapter 2: Shaken
After the assassin’s scattered across polished marble floors, tension lingered like a storm refusing to fade. Guards rushed through golden corridors, priests whispered urgent prayers, and defensive sigils ignited along the palace walls, glowing with protective energy.
Mason remained seated on the throne. He had not moved since the light left his hand.
Not because he wished to appear regal but because he was afraid that if he stood, the illusion would shatter.
’You hesitated’ Athlian’s voice echoed within him.
"I almost died," He replied silently.
’You destroyed him effortlessly.’
"That was luck."
The goddess did not answer immediately.
Instead, Mason felt her presence observing him closely, weighing every thought.
’That was not luck’ she finally said. ’You accessed divine authority without invocation.’
Mason swallowed. He barely understood what that meant.
His senses still stretched beyond normal human perception. He could feel the palace breathing around him; the movement of servants, the anxiety of soldiers, even the trembling fear of people outside the walls who had sensed the surge of power.
It was overwhelming. Like trying to process thousands of computer signals at once.
Saleem approached slowly, hands folded respectfully inside his sleeves.
"My Goddess," he said, bowing low, "the assassins bore no insignia. Their weapons carried void markings. This was no ordinary attack."
Ura stood beside him, her swords still drawn, eyes sharp and alert.
"They bypassed three divine barriers," she added. "Someone powerful aided them."
Mason forced himself to focus. He remembered the outline forming instinctively in his mind; observe, analyze, respond.
Just like solving a complex problem.
"Were there casualties?" he asked.
Both servants froze. The question seemed to surprise them more than the attack itself.
Athlian spoke inside his mind, voice edged with disbelief.
’You ask for servants before enemies?’
"They’re people," Mason answered mentally.
Saleem lifted his head slightly. "Minor injuries only, my Goddess. No lives lost."
Relief washed through Mason before he could hide it.
Ura noticed. Her gaze softened, confusion flickering beneath her disciplined exterior.
Something about their goddess truly felt different.
Mason stood. The movement was fluid, graceful, unnaturally perfect.Power rolled through his body like calm thunder.
He descended the throne steps slowly, robes flowing behind him. Every guard immediately dropped to one knee.
The sight unsettled him.Thousands of hours spent as an ordinary man could not prepare him for universal submission.
’Stand taller’ Athlian instructed.’ A goddess does not shrink beneath worship.’
Mason adjusted instinctively. Confidence settled over his posture not arrogance, but quiet authority.
"I will inspect the palace defenses personally," he said.
Saleem blinked. "You... wish to walk among the guards?"
Athlian’s faint amusement brushed
Mason’s mind.
’I rarely leave the throne hall.’
"Well," Mason thought, "that’s changing."
Aloud, he replied calmly, "Yes."
Ura’s lips almost curved into a smile. She sheathed her blades and stepped beside him protectively.
The massive doors opened. For the first time, Mason saw the true scale of the Syrian Kingdom’s palace.
Golden bridges connected towering structures suspended above vast gardens filled with glowing trees. Waterfalls flowed upward instead of down, defying gravity as streams of light carried water toward floating reservoirs in the sky.
The air shimmered with divine energy. This was not merely a kingdom. It was a realm shaped by gods.
Mason’s scientific mind struggled to categorize what he saw,Physics meant nothing here.Reality followed authority.
’You feel it’ Athlian said softly. ’This world bends to divine will.’
"Yes," he admitted internally. "And that terrifies me."
Her response came quieter than before.’Fear is wisdom. Many gods forget fear.’
As they walked, soldiers bowed deeply.Whispers followed in their wake.
"The Goddess walks..."
"She looks... warmer."
"Her aura feels different."
Mason pretended not to hear.
But Athlian heard everything.’They sense you’ she warned.
"I’m trying."
’Trying is insufficient for a ruler.’
Mason stopped near a shattered barrier gate where priests worked desperately to restore glowing sigils.Fragments of broken divine energy drifted like glass shards suspended in air.
He examined them instinctively. His mind shifted into analytical mode."These barriers weren’t broken by force," He murmured. "They were rewritten."
Saleem looked stunned. "Rewritten?"
Mason gestured toward the damaged runes. "The attack matched their frequency and altered authorization rather than destroying them."
Silence followed as Ura stared at him.
Saleem’s expression turned reverent."My Goddess... your insight surpasses even the High Priests."
Inside, Athlian’s shock rippled.’You perceive divine code.’
Mason blinked."Divine... code?"
’Yes. gods command reality through conceptual structure. You interpret it as logic.’
Understanding dawned slowly. His scientific training translated divine power into something he could comprehend.
Algorithms,systems and Rules.
The realization sent chills down his spine."I can understand this world," he whispered.
Athlian did not deny it.For the first time, her tone carried something new.
Interest.
Suddenly a crushing pressure descended from the sky.
The air darkened.Every priest collapsed to one knee. Guards trembled.
Even Ura’s hand tightened on her sword.
Mason felt it instantly, another powerful presence.
Athlian’s voice sharpened.’A god is observing us.’
A golden eye formed in the clouds above the palace, vast enough to eclipse the sun.
A voice boomed across reality itself."Athlian of the Syrian Throne."
The sound vibrated through Mason’s bones,he fought the urge to kneel.
’Do not bow, Athlian commanded firmly.’We are equals.’
Mason lifted his chin."State your purpose," he said, surprised at how steady his voice sounded.
The celestial eye narrowed."You have changed."
The words carried suspicion.Mason felt Athlian tense within their shared soul.
"I endured divine backlash," Mason replied calmly. "Change follows survival."
Silence lingered. The watching god seemed to probe deeper, searching.
Mason felt invisible pressure pressing against his consciousness.Testing and
scanning.
Athlian reacted instantly, surrounding his mind with overwhelming divine authority.
’Hide within me’ she ordered.
Their souls aligned instinctively. For the first time, Mason felt her protect him.The pressure withdrew slightly.
"Hm," the voice murmured. "Your divinity fluctuates... yet your authority grows." 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Mason said nothing. After a long moment,
the eye faded.
"The Pantheon will observe," the voice declared before vanishing entirely.
Light returned and everyone exhaled in relief.
Asuura looked upward with hostility. "The High Gods interfere too often."
Saleem spoke quietly. "They sensed the awakening."
Mason remained still.
Inside, Athlian’s voice carried tension.’They suspect something.’
"Us?"
’Yes.’
Mason ran a hand through his silver hair, mind racing. If other gods discovered he was human,he doubted survival would be an option.
Athlian spoke again, softer now.’You resisted a Pantheon gaze.’
"I just stayed calm."
’No human should survive that scrutiny,’Athlian retorted.
Their shared silence lingered. Then Mason asked the question that had been growing since awakening.
"Athlian... what happened before I arrived?"
Memories stirred faintly within her as pain and betrayal lingered.Darkness swallowing divine light.
’I was dying, she admitted at last. A power beyond the gods struck my soul during ritual ascension.’
Mason frowned."So I replaced you?"
’No.’ Her voice deepened. ’You prevented my extinction.’
The implication unsettled him,he wasn’t an invader,he was... reinforcement. Before he could respond, alarms rang across the palace again.
A priest ran forward, breathless.
"My Goddess! Reports from the northern borders; divine beasts are awakening simultaneously!"
Saleem’s expression darkened. "Multiple awakenings cannot be coincidence."
Ura drew her blades again."War approaches."
Mason felt the kingdom through divine perception. Chaos spreading and fear rising.
Something was destabilizing the world itself.
Athlian whispered within him.’The timeline shifts.’
Mason’s scientific instincts sparked, time and future. Two thousand years ahead.
"Something changed when I arrived," he realized aloud.
Athlian did not deny it.’Yes.’
Thunder rolled across distant mountains. He looked toward the horizon. For the first time since awakening, determination replaced confusion.
He might not understand destiny and he might not belong in this body. But he refused to remain passive.
"Prepare the council," he commanded.
Saleem bowed deeply. "At once, my Goddess."
Ura smiled faintly, pride shining in her eyes.
As they departed, Athlian spoke again. ’Human... you assume rulership quickly.’
Mason allowed a small internal smile."I managed research teams larger than kingdoms."
A pause followed and then very faintly...Athlian laughed...not of mockery or anger but something closer to approval.
