Chapter 131: Chapter 131: Land Spirit

The white-haired girl disappeared. The white Hakama changed.

In her place was now black swordsman with a sleek black swords and a pair of determined eyes.

Carter took a deep breath. ’It feels good to be back.’

"Thirty times!" A thick red aura blasted out of the black swordsman. It was even thicker and more ferocious than before.

He could already do thirty times enhanced previously with Adrenaline with severe side effects to his body. But that was no longer the case.

The Eldritch Knight was now a Champion Skin. He could take thirty times enhancement with much less drawbacks.

Carter put his right foot behind and lowered his body a little bit. He turned into a gust of wind and disappeared in the far distance.

Days of journey were now only a moment for him. Eldritch Knight also received basic attribute skills in Awaken Rank, enhancing his based aspects even more. This led to his speed while in Adrenaline mode became that much greater.

A caravan of carriages was going slowly on the road when a gust of wind passed by them. They didn’t even see anything at all.

The man caught his conical hat just in time before it was blown away by the wind. "What the hell? Where did that wind come from?"

He widened his eyes at what looked to be footprints on the ground. They weren’t there before.

The man turned back and saw that trail extending long behind him.

"Is it a Yokai?" The man shuddered in fear then shouted to everyone else, "Stay sharp! There might be Yokais around!"

Carter zipped through the dirt road and arrived at Giyaku within an hour. He skipped days of journey into minutes.

The black swordsman stopped in front of the eerie wooden gate. The high stone wall stretched far beyond one’s vision.

White smoke came out of Carter as his body cooled down from the excess use of Adrenaline.

Carter examined the skin on his hand. If it was Elite Eldritch Knight, his skin would be breaking off already. But now, he only felt a little bit tired.

’Elite is a lake different from Awaken. Champion felt like an ocean. The power difference is unimaginable.’

Carter marched forward and pushed open the wooden gate.

Suddenly, someone called him.

"Wait! Don’t go inside! That is the False City of Giyaku! There are only Yokais in there!"

The black swordsman smiled and turned back. A tiny old man was screaming at him. ’Tiny’ as in he was only as tall as Carter’s knees.

This old man was not an ordinary human.

"Who are you, spirit?" The black swordsman said.

The tiny man had long white eyebrows that covered his entire eyes that reached his short feet.

"I am the Land Spirit of this area, stranger. Trust me. You do not want to go in there." The Land Spirit said.

"Are you a deity, Land Spirit?"

"I am not, stranger. I am just a Spirit that looked over the lands and the people here."

"There aren’t anyone here anymore."

"You’re right. But you’re here. And it is my responsibility to stop you going to your death."

The black swordsman didn’t seem to even bother by that fact. His eyes were clear and focus. The Land Spirit knew he was a strong warrior from that alone.

"What is your name, Land Spirit?"

"This old body is called Kazou."

"I am the Unnamed, Kazou. I lost my purpose long ago and nowadays, I visit worlds to kill the evil that plagued the land. Tell me, can you help me locate every single Yokai in that city?"

Kazou lifted his large head and looked at Carter.

"No one can kill all of those Yokais, Unnamed. There are at least a few hundred Yokais."

"I killed thousands of monster before, Kazou. A few hundred won’t matter to me."

The power of the Eldritch Force leaked out from within Carter. The Land Spirit jerked back in fear and fell on his butt.

"You... You?! You are a Champion."

And not just any Champion. A rare powerful one. Kazou had seen many Champions before. This land was capable of producing them. But none gave him the pressure as large as this black swordsman.

Carter smiled gently and gave out his hand.

"My blade is only for the evil and deceptor. You do not need to be afraid."

Kazou reached grabbed Carter’s hand.

The black swordsman kicked the large wooden gate open. Those two large wooden door flew away heavily.

"There is a group of Yokai in the North. Two hundred steps from you." Kazou’s voice echoed in Carter’s ears.

Carter nodded. Kazou had agreed to help him. They had established a telepathic connection to converse. Kazou was a weak Land Spirit and couldn’t do much. So he hid away and fused with the land.

He would scan the entire area and located each and every single Yokai for Carter.

Carter really didn’t need his help. His Perception was high and his Sonar Echolocation had a very wide effective radius as well. The Living Sense also picked Yokais up as living beings.

But he would like to test how strong the power of the Land Spirit was.

The black swordsman spread his wings and shot up to the sky.

’What the...’ Kazou was watching everything so he could feel when Carter lifted himself up from the ground.

The black swordsman bolted away in the sky like a homing missile.

Two Yokais were fighting among each other. A Yokai with a tiger head and a Yokai with a goat head. They both had humanoid body with animal characteristics.

Their fur enveloped their skin and most of their body parts were animalistic. But their body had a human frame.

"Fight! Fight! Fight!" The remaining Yokais shouted in excitement.

These two Yokais had many grudges between each other. They finally decided to take care of it. The others were only there to enjoy the scene.

The Tiger Yokai grabbed the horn of the Goat Yokai and broke it in half. The Goat Yokai screamed in pain, it drove its broken horns into the abdomen of the Tiger.

"Kill him!"

"Fight back!"

The Yokais shouted.

Suddenly, something like a meteor fell onto the ground. Dust blew up and filled the area.

"What the hell was that?" A Yokai coughed and said.

The dust dissipated, revealing a swordsman in black with a pair of Raven wings.
