Chapter 2906: 2906. Go Find A Crafter

Setting foot in Genesis again and letting those who might need to know what he had managed to work on left Walker with his goals ahead of him.

He still wanted to see more progress on the floating island projects. He knew that the lethal dome rune formations were perfectly working. He didn’t need to worry too much about them right now.

However, he also knew that the herb gardens that were now going to be experimenting with those rune formations were still in the testing phases.

This was because the isolated greenhouses for herbs that could only be grown in specific elemental manas were working perfectly still. They had a higher cost for upkeep, but that was not a huge problem with how successful they had been.

It was amazing to see the new classes of herbalists coming from those projects.

The dark herbalist was specialized in bringing out herbs that could be used for a variety of medicinal purposes. It was stunning to learn about the fact that some herbs that caused decay were actually ideal to treat wounds.

Walker had been worried when Su, Alice, and Remey explained this to him at one point. But when they had pointed out the damage that some venoms do to the skin and how they will cause a poor version of rot that poisons the body, he was even more worried about such venoms on the normal adventurers. Yet, the medicines that were made from dark herbs that decayed that venom left within the wound and then could be purified were amazing.

This was ingenuity that came from years and years of work to understand the body and make what people had work. It was also sometimes the only way to neutralize certain venoms because of their volatility.

This also partnered with the healers to document and create such medicines.

However, the various forms of herbalists were not his focus. He saw that the testing area he quickly made his way to using teleportation magic was full of small scale tests.

The little stones floating in the air all had different runes and mana gems fixed to them. Every single one was also being controlled by different mages testing different rune formations that allowed for movement and control.

These formations and runes were carved in to metal rods that housed uniquely created mana gems. Similar to the ones within the fallen floating islands that were once battle cities made by the angel races’ ancestors.

Because there was an advancement in this way, the mages could use their mana to control the floating stones. Some larger than others to test the movement of them and also the weight that could be controlled. It was why the research in gravity rune formations and gravity magic were now happening right in the same testing area right now.

Not that it was a surprise to see these things coming together. Plenty of people wished to learn more and more about different magics and rune formations because of the speed at which they were all advancing. It was also because of the opportunities to advance on different paths because of these new possibilities in mana and magic alone.

When he spotted the familiar team of rune carvers working on a larger boulder, he saw how they had carved rune formations into the stone while also making room for the rod of mana gem that would house mana and be used for control. He also noticed the stone carvers who had come, they appeared to be the advanced technique users necessary to ensure that the structure of the stone being used did not break under the pressure from the rune formations and magic in general.

"Stay where you are, we have to finish this test." The person who stopped Walker clearly did not recognize him, but he was holding a book full of notes proving his job was most likely data recording and to ensure that not a single person got too close to the dangerous potential of experimental rune formations.

The others looked up and one waved Walker closer keeping him in line of sight since he knew who Walker was. "Please help us provide mana to this to start it. That young guy is new and he is following our orders." Walker wasn’t offended at all despite the fact that the recorder was looking clearly embarrassed.

Regardless, Walker provided some mana and watched runes light up all over the boulder. Plenty more runes flickered along the exposed sections of the mana gem rod allowing the entire boulder to move.

"We couldn’t use the same runes that the flying ships use because those are made for speed and stability. So we took the stability, wind control, and added some earth rune formations to increase the solidity of the boulder. Now we have something that floats and resists the wind currents better. We are almost close enough to try with bigger objects. We could even add some metal structuring..."

The voice trailed off and Walker wondered if this older rune carver he had met even slept or tried to rest and eat. The speed that they were advancing was unlike what he expected. It was as if he was having inspiration after inspiration. Even the team around him were just as focused as he was and appeared to have broken through their own limits.

The dark circles under eyes and the disheveled features were all he needed to see to know that they were working harder and harder.

"You came to check in, I know, but if you want to help then find a metal carver, we haven’t found a specific metal shaper that can keep up with what we need. They are all too inexperienced." Now this was not what Walker thought would happen after just being here for a few moments and observing the various levels of experimentation and advancement.

Originally he thought he would see progress and help here and there. Instead, he was being sent out to hunt for some talent to keep the advancements going.

Looking back on his memories, he did not remember there being a lot of metal structure within the stone that the angel cities were built into for their floating cities. However, Walker also understood this was not just the end. It was not a copy cat aspect. It was a goal to advance and improve what was happening here after all.

The ideas to improve the end result while still figuring out the basis for the entire project was interesting. It showed a lot of forethought but also a lot of hope. Maybe it wasn’t hope though, the way that everyone worked showed confidence. It showed that they didn’t just believe in their determination, they were certain of it all.

With that thought, Walker headed toward the only place he would expect talents in carving and shaping metal to be, the forges.

Yet, he was not looking for a blacksmith. Not in the traditional sense.

He also found it quite coincidental that he had just met the light diamond race who were able to forge materials by replacing manas and even forge wood as if it was metal. The focus on these sorts of crafting skills proved very much so that the projects and progression of everything within and outside of Genesis were moving faster and faster.

Crafting was such a large part of everything right now that it was valuable to keep it in mind.

The forges of the crafting guild were full of the usual sounds. Shouts of ideas, cracking of metal, the squeal of water as metal was quenched. It was all familiar and pleasant in its own way. It was a song of crafting that Walker enjoyed since he knew it proved that advancement and hard work was paying off.

Yet, he wasn’t looking for a blacksmith so his eyes continued to scan everyone looking to work here. He knew that plenty of people had their own paths and their own skills to train so he would surely catch on to what he needed.

He also waved off any attendants or assistants who tried to approach him. He was making sure that he kept them off him because if he had a crowd around him he might miss the chance to see what he needed to see. They also seemed to catch on after a few moments that Walker was here to observe and learn.

This was why Walker so easily moved through the chaotic movements of crafters while they worked on their projects. He was also used to this environment of smoke and metal. Enough so to get past those who were already set in their ways and get to the apprentices who were experimenting. Who were trying to discover their own paths.
