My Childhood Friend Turned Yandere in the Apocalypse
Chapter 222: Ch : Karina’s Request
"Ahhhh, it seems like things are starting to get interesting now. I never expected those kids to show up, much less try to take their dear ’mother’ down. Now this is what I call a twist."
Molly K. Jr. swung her chair around happily after witnessing what happened with Rin.
She was delighted by the fact that her kids and the system’s chosen had met. It meant that her experiment had not gone to waste.
"Those kids turned out well. Even if they are failures, they are still useful to me because they can bring out Rin’s true power. And once it is unleashed, the system will start coming back to life."
Molly was delusional and obsessed with the system and the creature that caused it.
She had never seen anything more magnificent in her life. She could still recall the day she had first seen that creature.
It had been overwhelming, but something inside her had called for her to touch that creature and bask in its glory.
She had gotten scared back then and decided she needed to run. But thinking back, it was just her admiration that had made her scared.
The more time she spent studying the creature, the more captivated she became by how amazing it was.
And the more she devoted herself to this creature, the more it started to pay attention to her as well. It began trusting her and giving her instructions, telling her what it wanted.
So far, she was the only one who knew what that creature wanted. She was also the only one who could give him what he needed.
’I need to make sure I do not cause trouble for my lord. I will make sure he has a perfect return to this world. And once he’s here, he can shape this world however he wants.’
Molly had submitted her life to that creature, and she was ready to devote even more of herself to it.
"Ah, I will make sure this is a success—"
"Are you running a new experiment? I don’t think I saw a report about this in the joint office when I went down to submit one for mine. You will be kicked out of here if they find out what you are doing."
Molly paused and looked at the new guest in her lab.
Pink hair and blue eyes. Those could only belong to one researcher in the facility.
"Ah, if it isn’t the husband-obsessed Karina. Has your beloved shown any signs of getting better? Is that why you decided to leave your lab and come here? What do you want from me?"
Molly asked, her joy fading as she looked at Karina. She did not want to get involved with this yandere.
Not only did meeting her leave a sour taste in her mouth, but it also made Molly more certain that Karina was sick in the head.
After all, how could she ever devote herself to an unconscious human who could never give her anything? If she wanted to devote herself to something, it should be the magnificent creature that would soon become their god.
"Was that your attempt at insulting me? It was rather cute. But I am afraid you need more practice if you want to reach a level that would make me flinch. Besides, your god is nothing more than a lump of flesh being used by us. You had better be polite if you still want to revive it later."
Karina reminded Molly, making her grit her teeth in anger and annoyance.
She knew that Karina was a psychopath who would blow up this facility if she felt her beloved was being harmed in any way.
This aspect of her must run in her genes because her daughter had awakened the same madness.
"What do you want? Can’t you see that I am busy? I don’t have time for your bullshit."
Molly snapped with a frown. The earlier joy had vanished from the room, leaving only annoyance behind.
Not that Karina seemed to care. She walked toward Molly’s table and pushed aside the paperwork on it without a second thought.
"I want you to help me get into the games. I need to meet my daughter for some... delightful mother-daughter time. Do you think you can interfere and sneak me into the next task?"
Karina was not asking; she was making a demand with the creature’s life on the line.
As much as Molly wanted to scream at her and tell her to get out, she knew that her god was in a fragile state right now. The smallest accident could cost her lord his life.
’This psychopath! She knows there is no way I would risk defying her... But wait! This is an opportunity to get rid of her.’
A task was determined by the system, and no one else could interfere during that time. Even Karina would not be able to use her powers or fancy skills once she went down as a task observer.
She would be easy to get rid of then, and Molly’s mind quickly filled with ideas.
"Hmm, you’ve gone quiet. What are you thinking about?"
Karina asked, the smile still lingering on her face.
Molly made up her mind quickly. Since this was what Karina wanted, she was willing to cooperate this time.
"I guess I can oblige you this time since you are being so polite. But there will be no second chances if you fail. You do know that, right?"
Molly asked, and Karina gave her a reassuring smile.
"Don’t worry. I have read the fine print, and I still want to go. There is something I absolutely have to do down there. And I know that you are the only one who can get me into the apocalypse. I will repay this favor in the future."
Karina promised, and Molly scoffed at her words.
"I will not need your help, but I will accept the offer. For now, you should get ready because the next task will start in two days. I will have my assistant send you the details, so there is no need to come here again."
Karina nodded and left, and Molly let out a sigh of relief.
"That psycho yandere is so annoying. I had better get rid of her as soon as possible before she becomes a problem for me."
