My Tribrid System: More than a Monster
Chapter 331: Fight the Controller (3)

"Ray. Switch with me now," Bruce snarled loudly as he stood behind the chair watching the battle take place.
Ray gnashed his teeth angrily.
"I don’t need your charity. I can do this alone."
"You can’t. You will die."
"And you suddenly care, why? Thought you wanted to kill me too."
"...."
"I just feel like being generous."
"And I said, I don’t need it. I can’t keep using your help each time I encounter a wall. I will never grow. This is my fight; allow me to take it down myself. When I need your help, I will ask for it."
Bruce looked down at the boy with a small frown on his face.
"Think about it, I’m offering my hand now. The day you might need my help, I might not come out."
Ray thought for a few seconds as his body crashed into the ground outside after the punch dealt to it by the controller.
"Then, you can go to hell. I don’t care. I’m doing this on my own and I will definitely make that controller pay."
Bruce smirked, turned around, and began walking back to his usual dark corner.
"Then let’s make a bet. If you manage to defeat that thing without my help, I will grant you one summon. You can ask me for my help when you need it and I will answer."
Elyon looked back at the werewolf with a raised brow.
"And if he loses?"
Bruce’s grin widened immensely as his teeth sharpened.
"And if after all the arrogance, he isn’t able to defeat it and re-asks for my help today, he will have to forfeit control of that body.... forever."
Ray listened to the werewolf’s words with a dark look on his face.
Bruce lifted a brow. "Deal?"
Ray tightened his grip on the armrest of the chair, then nodded. "Deal."

Slamming his hand into the ground, the claws on his gauntlet dug into the earth and allowed him to come to a skidding halt as the sharp tips ripped through the soil.
Finally, he stopped tumbling and proceeded to cough out a few specks of blood before lifting his gaze upward to see that Kai had now rejoined the fight, holding his own alongside Trisha.
It seemed like the creature still wanted to act like a swordsman at the moment.
And for some reason, Ray wasn’t entirely sure, but it looked like the guardian was underestimating them all massively while simultaneously treating the Tribrid as the biggest red flag on the field.
’One hit. One freaking hit more and I will lose my life. I really can’t risk getting hit again. But what do I do? How do I defeat the controller without relying on Bruce at all?’
«Ready to give up?»
Ray gnashed his teeth, then looked back at the fight, which was growing increasingly serious as Trisha was beginning to sustain a few injuries here and there.
Kai was still light on his feet, sending dozen after dozen of crystal spikes flying while shifting the crystal sword in his hand into several different constructs.
Looking back to a few meters away where Van and Chloe stood, his brows furrowed for a bit.
’What does the controller have that I do too? What weakness does it have that I can exploit?’
Ray scanned the battlefield for several moments, then shook his head.
’Its strength is that it can control all the bone weapons in its vicinity. Without the bones, though, it is also physically strong. So what can I do?’
Then his mind flashed back to the fight and his gaze drifted to his hand still clutching the bone sword and then his gaze sharpened as an idea formulated in his mind.
’... Compared to those other skeletal creatures, this one seems alive somewhat.
How does one kill a living creature once and for all? We all have one heavy weakness aside from our hearts which this bastard doesn’t have.’
Ray grinned as he rose to his feet and then looked at Chloe and without wasting time, he rushed toward where the girl and his best friend were standing.
....
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Knowing that her ability would barely do anything to it since it didn’t have any shred of flesh on it, Trisha decided to rely fully on her swordsmanship skills.
She was able to still remain alive...barely.
Kai wasn’t that proficient in using swords but he could still use his ability well, and that was what he was doing as he ducked under a swing and then swung his hand forward, sending a heavy column of crystal shooting toward its chest.
Before it could land, the controller contorted its feet, allowing it to spin around so the column smashed into the ground.
Trisha vaulted forward with the help of Chloe’s ability.
This almost caught the creature off guard.
Almost.
A thrust toward its eye socket was deflected before its foot shot toward the girl’s abdomen with blinding speed.
But with the help of Chloe again, she was saved... barely.
The foot grazed the girl’s side, and the sheer force and strength it had in that foot was enough to send Trisha’s body blasting away.
Before she could crash into the ground, she hurled her ice sword downward and sliced the ground open as she desperately tried to steady herself.
Then, just as the controller’s foot hovered above the earth to complete another step, it vanished.
Not with speed, but with silence.
It was as though reality itself had erased it from existence in that instant.
And it reappeared directly in front of Trisha with a bone hammer in hand, which was hurled toward her with full force and the intent of pulverizing her head.
The very next second, a shimmering spherical barrier activated all around the girl.
WAM!
The hammer collided with the sphere with such weight that the ground beneath it shattered instantly as cracks surfaced across the protective sphere.
Before it could totally crack, the sphere was dispelled with Trisha safely moved away in time as the hammer smashed into the earth, sending huge chunks flying into the air.
Before the creature could regain its footing, Ray zipped forward, and in his hand was a bone hammer which was hauled forward and smashed into the controller’s face with so much weight that its head was flung backward immediately with a hairline crack appearing on its skull.
