My Tribrid System: More than a Monster
Chapter 337: Burnt
Chapter 335
"Well, this is definitely a different location," Ray uttered as he looked at the land filled with mountains.
"Land filled with Hills, Land of Bones, and now land of Mou—" Chloe’s words trailed off as she lifted her gaze into the sky.
Lifting a trembling finger upward, she uttered,
"Wha-What’s that?"
Everybody followed her gaze, and there they could see something incredibly tall, its peak piercing through the clouds.
It didn’t look like a mountain.
Squinting his eyes, Ray tried to get a closer look, but the mist crawling around the mountain peaks made it harder.
From what he could see, this structure wasn’t in this region.
It seemed to be in another region... a land different from this place filled with mountains.
What the structure was, he didn’t know, but it seemed quite ominous, and a feeling of dread crawled up his spine the longer he stared at it.
"Who knows?" Van shrugged.
"It looks like something human. Like a tower where humans could stay or something," Kai muttered as he tried straining his vision as hard as he could, though he could barely discern the structure properly.
Van thought for a few seconds before he lifted his head again to look at the tall structure.
"Guys, I think I might be crazy, but why do I feel like our ticket out of here is in that tower?"
"You aren’t crazy. I feel the same way too,"
Trisha uttered, her sight fixed on the tower, refusing to leave it at all—as if it would disappear if she took her gaze off it.
Even though Trisha backed him, Van decided to explain himself anyway.
"I mean, think about it. There’s a tower piercing the skies that seems like it is trying to draw attention to itself, which means there must be something in it that demands attention."
"As if it would invite us in without a fight," Kai thought for a few seconds, then added,
".... Actually, the threats here will be known at night."
Ray heaved a sigh and rubbed his face.
"Our main priority right now is searching for Felix and Caster."
"How are we supposed to do that? What if they have even made it to the tower?" Chloe questioned.
Ray shook his head with a small smile.
"Caster might have, but Felix wouldn’t. He considers me his brother so he wouldn’t leave me behind. And if he is here, I will be able to sniff him out."
"What are you now? A dog— oh yeah. A werewolf with an incredible sense of smell," Chloe muttered.
"Right. And werewolves emit a different scent compared to humans, which is very heavy. So it would be easier to sniff him out."
"Well, before we begin looking for your friend, let’s first of all figure out the predators hoarding this land as theirs," Trisha stated.
"Right. And will you look at that? There’s a lot of mountains we can just hide inside," Kai exclaimed with a short laugh.
"Come on. Let’s go find a spot," Ray urged as he began walking away, the others following closely after him.
....
They walked for a few minutes, surveying the mountains in their immediate vicinity, and soon found a mountain with a cave dug into its side.
From what they could see, it went pretty deep so they decided to walk into it.
"Yikes. It’s pretty dark too." Chloe exclaimed as she crawled inside.
"I can fix that," Van declared as he tapped his bracelet and immediately, the whole cave was illuminated by a semi-bright ray.
Ray crawled away from the light and sat down in the depths of the darkness as he watched the others settle down calmly.
"So...what now?" Chloe asked.
"Now? We wait and observe," Kai lifted his shoulders indifferently.
Hours passed in quiet silence as the squad members were now left in their thoughts all alone while waiting for nighttime to see what they would have to deal with.
Ray appreciated the silence as he surfed through his system and, most especially, the shop.
Though the weapons displayed nothing more than their images and rank, the other items had their images and names.
The list was endless and, since he was less busy, he began looking through it.
’Hpmh. Woah! This is strong. Tsk. Useless. Damn! System, I gotta have this.’
His thoughts and expressions were changing with each item he spotted.
Van was also deep in thought as his mind began going over things he could create and maybe weaponry constructs he could make that would increase his combat prowess.
"Man.... I’m bored. Can’t we play a game?" Chloe asked as the whole cave had been eerily silent for hours now.
"Sure. I have a game," Trisha unexpectedly spoke up.
Chloe’s face lit up brightly as she looked in her direction. "Sure. What is it?"
"It’s called; Hold your lips, keep quiet and think," Trisha replied.
"Huh? What sort of game is that?"
"That’s the point. It’s not," Trisha smirked as she turned her head to the side.
"Oh? You think you are funny? Your jokes are as awful as-as-as uh... someone help me here," Chloe requested as she thought of a good comeback.
The boys said nothing as they were deep in their various thoughts, leaving the girl to fume silently.
"Whatever. Your jokes are awful and dumb."
"Just like you," Trisha coldly replied.
"Damnnnnnn!" Ray reacted as he was jolted out of his thoughts with a loud cough.
"Well, says the girl who doesn’t know more than three words in her vocabulary," Chloe refuted.
"I know more than three words."
"Oh really? Lemme hear them."
"You stink."
"Whoa!" Kai shouted with a shocked look on his face.
Chloe’s face was now reddening with each passing second.
"Well, you also stink."
Van just shook his head and placed his palm on the girl’s shoulder.
"Please, give it a rest. You have been burnt to ashes."
Ray delved into a loud cackle as the whole cave suddenly erupted into loud laughter at Chloe’s expense.
