Chapter 340

It didn’t take long for the group to gather themselves and begin the search for Caster and Felix with Ray out front.

His eyes were closed and his hands were stuffed into his pocket as he was genuinely honing his perception and senses so he could sniff the werewolf out from wherever he was.

It would be difficult, but it was still possible.

Even with his eyes closed, the Tribrid was still avoiding obstacles so easily that it seemed like his vision hadn’t been robbed at all.

’Actually. This is good training,’ he mused inwardly as he nonchalantly walked around a mountainous hill.

He purposely steered the group from the area he had hunted in the previous night.

There was no use going in that direction because if the duo had been there, he would have known.

So it was more useful if they searched another location instead.

"Uh guys..."

Chloe as usual, broke the silence and knowing her, a question was gonna pop up.

"... I don’t know about you all, but I feel itchy and sticky."

"Hm?" Kai uttered as he raised a brow of confusion.

"Don’t you get? I need a bath. It’s been a week since I last had my bath."

"A week? Wasn’t it two weeks ago we got to this world?" Van questioned with a raised brow.

"Uh... actually, we technically had a bath the day we fell into the dark sea. I felt clean after coming out from the sea hence I didn’t count that. Anyway, that’s not the point. I stink."

"We all know. Literally and figuratively," Trisha snarked.

Chloe shot her a glare.

"Incase you don’t know, that’s not how to speak to a friend. Hpmh."

Then she paused, recalling something, and sighed.

"Oh yeah. You don’t consider us your friends."

Trisha’s face fell as she turned her head to the side and then silently continued walking forward.

The boys didn’t interfere at all and only chose to focus on the journey.

Several minutes later, Trisha lifted her head to stare at Ray’s back in deep thought before looking to see Chloe hurrying to match her pace with the Tribrid.

More minutes passed in silence as Chloe could be seen trying to strike up a conversation with Ray, who was actively trying to shut the conversation down and trying to focus on his mini training.

But the girl wouldn’t stop yapping.

’Oh heavens... my damn ears.’

He was trying to focus but the girl kept bringing more conversations.

"Look uhm... Chloe. I’m trying to focus on finding the others so I will appreciate a little bit of silence from you. Thank you."

"Hm? You mean I speak too much?"

"Thank heavens you are self-aware."

"Wha—?!"

Not giving her a chance, Ray quickened his pace and walked away from her.

So far, they had checked multiple caves, climbed tons of mountains, yet they hadn’t been able to spot the two boys.

Ray hadn’t also been able to spot a settlement or area where the wolves could be prowling like Hill Valley.

’This whole place is hollow. I have a feeling that if I shout, my words will echo. So what name shall we give this place?’

He thought for several seconds and then smirked.

’I know. Hollow Mountains.’

"Guys.... I’m worried about how quiet and eerie this whole place is," Van declared as he looked around the area.

He didn’t know if he was just imagining it, but it seemed as if the mist was drawing closer to them with each passing second.

Their path was now cut off by a tall mountain.

Left with no other option, they began the arduous climb.

It took a few more minutes before they could completely scale the peak and then began the easy descent down the mountainside.

So far, two hours had passed since they left their cave in search of any traces of Caster and Felix.

If they were even still here to begin with.

While Ray was basically just sniffing the air like a dog, Van’s gaze was fixed on the ground—observing and scanning it for any sign of human footprints aside from theirs that they could follow.

Anything that would give them an inkling of whether the boys were even here to begin with.

’I know.’

Tapping his bracelet, a spider rolled down the slot and quickly began scurrying across the ground.

Van’s eyes flashed a bright blue as he now shared a vision with the mechanical spider, actively searching for any human heat signatures apart from theirs.

Before the spider could even go far, Ray sniffed the air so hard that the sound was oddly loud as he halted mid-step.

"What happened?" Kai asked.

Ray turned his head to the left and sniffed.

Then to the right and finally, he subtly tapped the bridge between his brows, activating his ’Thermal Vision’.

He smiled silently.

"Ray....?"

Looking back slightly, he uttered,

"Come on."

Without saying anything else, he picked a direction and began hurrying there while the others exchanged brief glances with one another before following him swiftly.

Cutting past a small mountainous hill, the group burst into a small clearing where Ray could be seen staggering and then halting mid-motion.

The others were confused by his sudden actions, so they quickly hurried over in deep thought, and when they reached his position, they all had confused looks on their faces.

They could see Caster and Felix standing in front of them with shocked expressions on their faces, as if they didn’t expect the group to be in this region.

By the trajectory of their gazes and bodies, it seemed they were heading in the same direction the group was coming from.

But that was not what was confusing them.

It was the third figure standing in between the two boys.

A human. A girl their age.

And by the looks of her attire, she was an Aspirant too.

An eighth human had also been pulled into the gate with them?!

Ray’s brows knit immediately.

’Something is wrong.’
