10,000x Reward Multiplier: Hell-level Kingdom Building-Chapter 29: [0] Denji Wayan
The expression of the black-haired woman, whom the others addressed as Angelina, grew heavier and more depressed as she narrated their fate at Wayan village. The same could be said for her colleagues, as some of them could no longer hold it in and began to sob quietly.
On the other hand, Floki, Jabba, and Anton grew increasingly infuriated as they listened.
According to Angelina, Wayan village is a large settlement that has not been able to develop into a town for over two decades.
The village itself was described as prosperous, fertile, and even beautiful.
At the beginning, when she started narrating, Floki and his men were quite confused as to how a place with such a description could leave them feeling this disturbed.
Nonetheless, as she delved deeper, they realised that it was not the territory that was the problem, but rather their leader and his twisted rituals.
Apparently, the Lord of Wayan village, Denji Wayan, is a completely degenerated piece of shit.
According to Angelina, every five years, he would gather all the divorced and widowed women, tie them up, and take them deep into the dark forest, dropping them at a predesignated spot where they would then be taken by any monster that saw them first. In Angelina and her colleagues’ case, they were taken by the goblins.
Floki, who was already furious but still curious, asked her what the reason for this cruel and unnecessary ritual was, but the answer was even more disturbing than he had expected.
He was doing this to appease his gods, to obtain more personal strength, and in the hope of finally upgrading his territory into a town.
Floki and his men were confused as to how sacrificing helpless women could possibly upgrade a territory, but they kept their thoughts to themselves and continued listening in silence.
Angelina also revealed that in the absence of enough divorced and widowed women, he would take any random woman, whether a mother, a wife, or a young unmarried woman. As long as that person was past the age of 20, they were considered a suitable sacrifice.
She even mentioned that one time, he took an orphaned girl who was not even eighteen at the time, and his excuse was that he was trying to give his god something new and fresh, just to see what it preferred.
This was the part of the story that pushed Floki and his men to the edge of their restraint.
"What the heck..." Floki cursed under his breath before asking in a furious tone, "Has no one ever tried to stop him?"
Jabba followed up immediately, his voice tense, "You mentioned that he took other men’s wives. Did none of those men stand up to him?"
Anton wanted to ask another question, but he was too angry to even form the words properly.
Their reactions brought a small sense of relief to the women, who felt reassured seeing that they were nothing like their former village chief.
Angelina slowly shook her head, her expression weighed down by sorrow.
"There have been others who tried to stop his tradition..." she revealed, her voice growing softer as she lowered her head.
"My beloved husband was one of them. But he was brutally and publicly slaughtered to serve as a lesson to others who harboured the same thought of challenging him." Angelina clenched her fist tightly and struggled to steady her grieving heart as she forced herself to finish speaking.
After she was done, she finally stopped holding it back and began to weep openly.
Floki, Jabba, and Anton immediately softened, sympathy replacing the anger in their eyes as they watched her break down.
The other women quickly gathered around Angelina, offering what little comfort they could.
"There have been other men who tried to stop the tradition," one woman revealed, her voice trembling.
"My uncle even tried to stop him from taking us, but he was imprisoned," another added, her eyes filled with fear.
"It is not that our men are weak, but Denji Wayan is simply too strong," one of them said, finally revealing something that Anton had been silently wondering about. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Hearing all this, Floki came to a clear conclusion that this Denji Wayan was truly evil and deserved every bit of the hatred the women held toward him.
Yet, after listening to them, he did not only feel sympathy. At the same time, he began forming a plan in his mind on how to make them his followers, and not only that, but also how he would make them loyal and stronger over time.
A faint sense of anticipation stirred within him as he imagined a unit of his soldiers made up of fierce and capable women.
Still, he revealed none of this and kept his thoughts hidden.
It would be wrong to openly exploit these women. He was well aware of that and made sure to act accordingly.
Nonetheless, he also understood that he had to proceed carefully and begin laying the foundation of trust, slowly building their loyalty step by step.
Standing up from his previous sitting position, he faced the women with a serious and composed expression.
"I am certain you do not want to return to that place now that your fate has been reversed," he began.
"I am never going back!"
"Never!"
The first wave of responses came quickly, filled with firm rejection.
"My son is still there. I would like to take him back one day, but I cannot endanger his life by letting that evil man know I am alive."
Upon hearing this woman’s words, the others also began to express their own desires to return for the sake of their loved ones.
"Yes, I have family there too."
Nonetheless, this only made Floki more certain of his next move, though he kept that to himself.
"I can help you," he said calmly.
However, instead of the reaction he expected, the women became visibly worried.
’Did I say something wrong?’ Floki wondered, briefly thinking he might have already stepped out of line and ruined his plan.
Angelina stopped sobbing and turned to look at him.
"We appreciate everything you have done for rescuing us and caring for us. But we do not want you to die an untimely death. You have a great future ahead of you. Please do not risk it for us," she said sincerely.
With her words, Anton frowned slightly.
’So he is even stronger than I expected,’ he thought to himself.
Floki had the same question, but unlike Anton, who kept it to himself, he chose to ask directly.
"He is at least three times stronger than you," Angelina revealed without hesitation.
"He might be old, but he is truly powerful. He once dealt with an army of a hundred armed soldiers all by himself," another added.
"He carried all of us, all fourteen of us, at once and took us into the dark forest alone."
Hearing all these testimonies, Floki was surprised, but he was not discouraged.
