365 Days of Rejected Proposal: CEO's Rebellious Pet-Chapter 157: The Woman Jenson Forrest Searched for Sixteen Years
Zinnia looked at Yara Fairchild, who waved her hand in front of her nose.
"Tut, why do I seem to smell the sourness of love? Hurry and answer it."
Zinnia answered the call.
"Why aren’t you back yet?"
The man’s voice carried a touch of impatience, deep and raspy through the phone, with a grainy texture that caressed Zinnia’s ear.
"I’m talking to Yara at the coffee shop, I’ll be back soon. Can you nap for a bit?" Zinnia said with some embarrassment, glancing at Yara opposite her.
Yara deliberately raised her voice and said:
"Just a few words and someone’s already checking in. Forget it, I’m leaving. But Young Master Forrest, if you don’t treat Zinnia well this time, I’ll protest with a banner outside Stellar!"
Yara waved at Zinnia, got up, and left, her silhouette fiery.
Zinnia also left the coffee shop, "Yara’s always so dramatic, don’t be mad, I’m already out and heading back now."
Jenson Forrest murmured an acknowledgment, "It’s good she’s so protective of you. If her help didn’t let you escape Veridia, try to imagine someone else!"
Sensing the anger and dissatisfaction in his voice over her escape, Zinnia let out a soft hum.
"Lucky you didn’t really harm Yara, otherwise I wouldn’t have forgiven you easily!"
Zinnia hung up the phone and headed toward the hospital.
Unexpectedly, she saw Crystal Sutton and Rose Lowell at the hospital entrance.
Crystal was clearly being encircled like a mummy; Gloria Grant and her crew were pulling and pestering her.
Not sure what Gloria said, but Crystal’s expression slightly changed; she turned and reached out to Rose.
Rose handed her a bank card, and Crystal gave it to Gloria, who then left.
Zinnia pondered; from Gloria’s slip last time, she only learned Crystal had been giving Gloria money all along.
But Crystal was now scrounging for herself, yet still giving money.
With Crystal’s selfish nature, it seemed unusual.
Zinnia thought for a moment, walked over, and Crystal indeed spotted her, storming over with fury, raising her hand to hit Zinnia.
"Zinnia, you bitch!"
Zinnia raised her hand, grabbed her wrist, and sneered, "Got angry because your lies were exposed?"
Crystal’s chest heaved with anger, her teeth clenched.
She yanked her hand back fiercely, took a breath, and said.
"You probably saw your mom and uncle and aunt just now, right? They got seriously hurt and don’t have the money for treatment, yet you as their own ignore them—it’s not right, is it?"
Zinnia smiled, "But there’s you, Miss Sutton. So kind and generous, you might as well honor them more."
"Zinnia, don’t you think you’re being too cold? You’re now the Forrest Family’s young mistress, carrying their golden grandson, yet watching relatives suffer without medicine? That’s bad for your reputation once it spreads."
Crystal was almost driven mad; Jenson Forrest had publicly humiliated her and withdrawn investment for the Suttons. Now, Gloria and her crew were pestering her.
Gloria, always opportunistic, was frightened by Jenson’s intimidation, yet she dared not ask Zinnia for money.
Crystal didn’t want to give money, but Gloria held leverage over her...
Damnit!
Zinnia nodded, "My reputation’s already poor, but you value yours, so manage them forever—I don’t mind publicizing your benevolence."
"You!" Crystal’s fists tightened in fury.
Zinnia observed her; clearly, it wasn’t out of sentimentality that Crystal was giving money to Gloria and the others.
Was she being threatened?
Zinnia continued, "Don’t feel wronged; compared to us, Gloria cares more for you—why is that?"
Crystal’s gaze momentarily panicked, quickly masking it.
"Of course, because I respect her, always seeing her as my nurturing mother. And you, treating yourself as Miss Sutton at the family, never respected her!"
Zinnia caught that brief panic in Crystal’s eyes.
Her heart sank; could there be a real issue here?
She raised her eyebrow and said, "I indeed don’t see her as a mother; I’d rather be motherless than have one who disregards her daughter’s life and death."
When York Lawrence nearly beat Zinnia to death, she saw Gloria return through a crack in the door.
She reached out to Gloria for help, but Gloria fearfully covered her mouth, took off her high heels, and sneaked away.
At that moment, Zinnia considered herself motherless.
One step forward, ready to leave, Crystal called out behind her.
"Don’t be so smug, Zinnia! You think you’ve won? Ha, Jenson is only keeping you because of your unborn child! He relies on the child to save his younger brother’s life.
You believe he loves you? Before he knew about your pregnancy, didn’t he register divorce and ask you to leave Veridia soon?"
Something Zinnia knew in her heart.
But hearing it from others pierced deeply.
Zinnia, leave the country after divorce and don’t come back.
The words Jenson had said echoed once more in Zinnia’s ears.
Zinnia bit the tip of her tongue, the pain distracting her from discomfort inside.
Not letting Crystal manipulate her emotions, she smiled and said, "Say what you will; I’ll show you our love."
Turning to leave, Crystal suddenly caught up, grabbed Zinnia’s arm with venomous pride in her tone.
"You’re so naive, Zinnia! Yes, I deceived you, everyone; I wasn’t really Jenson’s first love! But that doesn’t mean your dear Mason doesn’t have a woman he loves deeply!
There’s something I’m sure your dear brother hasn’t told you. He has a woman at Mount Aeridor Villa, one he’s searched for sixteen years! All these years, you’ve been nothing but a stand-in! Haha, fool, you’re just a joke!"
Zinnia’s steps halted abruptly, her heart sinking.
Seeing her frozen silhouette, Crystal curled her lips in triumph.
In this world, Zinnia is the most undeserving of happiness!
A fake heiress who stole her worry-free childhood for six years and, through her grandmother’s old ties, enjoyed the Forrest Family’s riches.
Yet she dares dream of Jenson’s love—impossible!
Zinnia turned, not as Crystal had hoped with tears streaming down.
She looked at Crystal with calm compassion.
"You think your words still hold any truth? My husband kept a mistress? Searched for her sixteen years, using me as a stand-in? You’ve been reading too many novels; you’re really good at fabricating nonsense!"
Not the reaction Crystal wanted; her expression turned anxious.
"That’s not true! I’m definitely not lying this time! Mount Aeridor Villa is near here; if you don’t believe me, go see for yourself!"
Mount Aeridor Villa was among several wedding homes Old Madam Forrest picked out from the family’s many properties when Zinnia and Jenson married.
The old madam took Zinnia around, letting her select one to remodel and decorate as their wedding home.
Zinnia chose Mount Aeridor Villa and Sovereign Court because Mount Aeridor Villa is near the private hospital of the Forrests.
Sovereign Court is close to Stellar Group. Both homes were furnished by Zinnia herself, her preference clear, but she ultimately chose Sovereign Court.
Zinnia couldn’t bear Jenson spending extra travel time daily commuting to work.
Mount Aeridor Villa remained another wedding house but wasn’t lived in.
Zinnia would never believe Jenson would house a woman there.
Even if he did, it wouldn’t be at Mount Aeridor.
"Whatever you say, I won’t believe anymore."
Zinnia approached Crystal, touched her hair gently.
"Crystal, being envious of others’ happiness is a serious mental illness; I genuinely suggest seeing a psychologist.
Take time to care for yourself; see how your messy hair lacks nutrition. Must be using too much scheming, not enough nutrients. As your sister, I truly pity you..."
Crystal went berserk, backing away, frantically fixing her hair, glaring at Zinnia with clenched teeth.
"Zinnia, why does Jenson avoid discussing my baby? Because this child is tied to the woman Jenson deeply loves! Jenson doesn’t dare tell you! Ha, you’ll regret not believing me one day!"
With that, Crystal flung Zinnia away, leaving with Rose Lowell.
