This was certainly the first time Detective John has slept past his normal sleeping hour,and was he astonished over the fact that his guest was up before him?

Last night,he had ended up taking her to his place to sleep over, after figuring out that she’s stranded and has no place to go.

After assuring her that he wasn’t in any way a threat to her,she had rather kept everything to herself without bothering to let him in about what’s happening.

Although,he knew quite well that it was going to be difficult telling a stranger,well an officer, what exactly was going on with her and Nathan.

Whatever it is,she knew how influenced Narhan was and was trying to change her mind in telling him about it.

But hopefully,today would yield some positive results seeing that she conceded to following him to his house.

That’s the first step at making her comfortable,and also assuring her that he’s not like other guys who had mischievous intentions towards a pretty lady.

That has been what made him question if perhaps Hazel had a twin or not,but Lucy had assured that she was not in any way related to Hazel.

He knew that it’s a zero point one possibility for one to find his doppelganger,the world is not a small place but right now meeting Lucy made him know how small the world really is.

Yet,he couldn’t help but wonder what exactly Nathan wanted to do with her.

Sitting up on his bed,he went for his phone and sighed when he realized that he was ten minutes late,it wasn’t much but that doesn’t change the fact that he’s late.

All because of the woman who had slept on his couch,after refusing to let him sleep there while she uses his room.

It’s going to take a whole lot of convincing to let her open up,but he wouldn’t sit and wait for her to talk.

He has to take actions,which was

finding out about her on his own.There’s more to Lucy Wells, than what the eyes saw yesterday night.

If his assumption was right, and maybe Nathan was playing something fishy with her towards Hazel,does that not make him the psychopath who ate the guard up and also who threatened Hazel?

The ringing of his phone jerked him out of his thoughts, and just as he had imagined Kelvin was already at work and was calling to know what was going on.

"Hey"He answered the call.

"Morning sir,It’s some minutes past seven ..."Kevin reminded him, although he wasn’t surprised that he was late today.

He went home late last night,and has stayed up just because of the Knight’s case. It was really stressing him up and yet he doesn’t want to give up on the case yet.

There’s no solid evidence against any of the family,just as he has made it known to him that one of them was the murderer, especially between the two, Sophia and Nathan.

"Of course I know that I’m late, ’’Detective John said, standing up to stretch his body,before walking over to the window and rolling it up abit to check on Lucy.

"But i have something holding me up here, something so unbelievable that you won’t actually believe that ever existed"

"Did Marissa come over?"Kelvin guessed,which inturn got a curse from his superior for being so lame minded.

"You can do better than that man, Marissa had left for good "John said,but his face changed the moment he didn’t see Lucy on the couch or in any part of the sitting room.

Did she run away?

No,there’s no way she could have done that,it’s not like she knew the password to do that.

What if she noticed you doing that yesterday?

The thought came,and he didn’t waste any time in tugging the door open to look for her.

"Boss"

"I will call you right back,I need you to search up a Lucy wells,I will be at the office at fifteen "He said lastly to kelvin, without waiting for him to say anything else and cut the call.

He searched the sitting room but didn’t see traces of the woman who he brought into his home last night,the guest toilet and bathroom in case she was there but found it empty.

Kicking the chair with foot in anger,and also for the way she tricked him into sleeping in his sitting room,so that she could escape the following morning even before he woke up.

It was made known to him that she saw him his password yesterday,and had escaped this morning.

But why would she run from someone, who was only trying to help her?

He was still lost in thought,trying to think of any reasons why she would run away from him,he hasn’t done anything bad to get her to do that.

"Morning"Lucy said,appearing out of nowhere, and that scared him because he flinched in shock.

"Hey.."He coordinated himself immediately,he didn’t want to let her know that she just scared him right now."I was thinking you ran away, after searching for you all over the house"

He told her, turning to look at her to see her face more clearly than yesterday,God! Hazel would be really shocked seeing her.

Did he also forget the fact that maybe, Zaiden wouldn’t know who exactly is his fianceè once they both meet.

At that moment,just after that thought,the weirdest reason for Nathan’s relationship with Lucy came across his mind.

What if Nathan’s was trying to swap the two of them?

There’s no evidence yet that he was trying to do that,but it makes more sense when one thinks of how someone like him would associate with the likes of Lucy.

Nathan was different from Zaiden.

There was no way that he would end up falling for someone like Lucy,just the way Zaiden fell for the pauper turned princess,Hazel.

"Why would you think that i would do that? Run away just as you say"Lucy asked him, watching the mixed emotions on his face.

She doesn’t know if it was safe for her to trust him,yet,she couldn’t help but trust her instincts that she was safe with him rather than staying on the streets.

She was lucky yesterday,and she doesn’t get lucky everyday.Nathan would definitely murder her the next time she runs into him.

So,she has no other option than to stick alongside this detective, who has been trying out ways to get information out of her.

Yet,the fear of what Nathan was going to do to her brother made chills run through her spines,that she suddenly got cold.

"Are you okay?"Detective John asked when he saw the change in her countenance,she’s now looking...scared.

Just like yesterday,and what she doesn’t know is that as much as trying to act cool around him and pretend that everything is fine,she’s only fooling herself.

He’s a detective, and his line of work has made him entitled to read people’s facial expressions to know what is going on in their mind.

"I’m okay"Lucy lied,looking away from his scrutinizing gaze that could pierce through her facade,if she didn’t stop thinking out loud for him to know that she’s bothered.

"What’s your relationship with Nathan?’’He had no option but to take the bull by the horns,she’s choosing to play stubborn and making things hard for her,and of course,him too.

"He’s a friend"She blurred out.

The game has changed,she knows that this is detective John speaking and not the kind man who took her in yesterday night.

"A friend that nearly choked you to death,what sort of friend does that?"He angrily asked,walking up close which made her scared seeing his face.

His angry look reminded her of Nathan,which made her step back in fear of what he might do to her for lying.

She felt comfortable with staying in his house yesterday night,but that was because he came out nice and also because she needed shelter.

But right now,he’s raising voices at her which made her remember only the tortures she went through at Nathan’s hand.

Was he going to hit her too?

"How much more has he done than choking?"He asked further.

"Sta...y back,he didn’t..hurt me"She found herself defending him,that’s to show how crazy and fucked up her mind was even after going through hell at his hands,yet she’s still supporting him.

"We both know that Nathan is a bad guy, but i can’t get justice for you or anyone out there that he might have hurt ,if you don’t help me Lucy"

He added, and this time he did more by grabbing her two hands into his, shocking her further.

"Who is Nathan to you,Lucy?"

"I ..Nathan..He..my brother"She stuttered,not knowing what to say.

"Your brother?He has your brother?"He asked,this time moving along to grab her arms moving her close to him,"who has your brother?"

"Natha ..mmm"Lucy wanted to speak,but suddenly felt like vomiting,to which she pushed him aside to run into the toilet.

Her stomach suddenly felt uneasy,as she let out all content and out of her system,and flushed the toilet before sitting on the floor and clutching her tummy.

Amidst the stomach upset,she suddenly felt dizzy which was why she sat down with her back on the wall to support herself.

"Lucy,are you okay?"She heard her name called, but she was far lost in her thoughts to feel anything about her surroundings.

She hasn’t seen her period for a while now,and if she’s right, Nathan didn’t use protection for two times.

She wasn’t given the liberty to tell him about it because he had a rough day, and was scared of him taking his aggression out on her as he normally does.

It all made sense to her right now,the loss of appetite for days,which she had blamed on the fact that she was too depressed and hurting to eat.

Her sudden urge to sleep for more than she normally does,which Eric had complained about and denied her food for a whole day when she missed their lesson on how to impersonate Hazel.

Could her life not get any worse?

The tears rolled down her eyes even before she set up her mind to cry,as she placed her right hand on her tummy.

She’s pregnant.

She’s carrying that monster’s baby.

She’s carrying Nathan Knight’s baby.

Maybe,if they had met under a different circumstance without him being the devil being talked about in stories,she would be the happiest right now.

But that’s adding more problems to the one she’s already in, what’s she going to do?

What’s she going to do with his baby?Of course,he would kill both her and the tiny soul living inside of her once he finds out .

At that moment,she knew she had to cry for help.
