Chapter 91: Nephew Or Son?

Jessica curled her toes as Tieron exploded in her insides and lay at the other side panting. They both stared at the ceiling breathing heavily to catch their breath. Drawing the sheets to cover herself, she looked sideways to find Tieron smiling. His chest was hairy, she noticed.

"That was awesome!" Tieron said. "I can’t remember the last time a woman tasted so heavenly."

He turned towards her, tucking the stray strands of her hair behind her ear. "You’re as beautiful as I could remember."

"You’re longer than I expected," she complimented, his size poking her inner thighs at the mention.

"You should leave before someone walks in on us. You don’t want to be beheaded by your own nephew, do you?"

"Nephew?" Tieron asked, his brows raised.

Jessica placed her finger on his lips to hush him before he could say anything else. "If word of this comes out, we’ll both be dead."

"You think I’m a fool?" He kicked the beddings aside and collected his pants on the floor. Jessica leaned on the headboard with the sheets still wrapped around her as she watched his butt.

"Why are you here?" She asked as he slipped his pants up.

"Isn’t it obvious?" Tieron asked. He fetched his shirt on the floor and wore it too before collecting his leather armor.

"What is obvious is you’re trying to control my son," Jessica voiced, her voice sharp.

"The lad needs a father figure to guide him. Why do you think I came all this way?" He buckled his belt and smoothened the armor before raking his hair with his fingers.

"He doesn’t need you, Tieron. You have no idea how much I sacrificed to have him on the throne."

"That I have," he said. And walking towards the nightstand, he poured himself a glass of water and drained it in one go. "A woman, alone in the dark with the king and two minutes later he’s dead. Such a coincidence, don’t you think?"

He stared at the empty glass before shifting his eyes to look at Jessica. "Was the water poisoned too?"

"No idea what you’re talking about!" Jessica denied with a nervous smile.

"Oh! Neither do I. You keep our little secret safe and I’ll go with yours to the grave. Betray me and we’re both dead!"

"Leave my son out of this!" Jessica pleaded.

"That’s the last condition I forgot to add in our mutual agreement," he said, raising his fingers as if he’d remembered something important.

"Never mind," he dismissed before walking over to the door. He found Jessica’s eyes across the room.

"We both know who’s son he is. He’s the reason I risked my life to come here." Before Jessica could deny it, he slammed the door and left.

Jophiel woke up to a cold and empty sheet by her side. The last few days they had been tracking Gabriel and Elena, Darion used to cuddle with her to keep off the biting cold of the woods. But today was different. She tried to move but her thighs throbbed in numbness, the memories of the previous night suddenly flooding her memory.

She had done it with him!

Moving her head to the other side, she saw him still rested in the tub with his eyes closed. His head faced the ceiling with his lips slightly open with a snore.

God! He must have freezed by now! She wanted to wake him up but remembered he wasn’t human. In her entire life, she had never seen a sick vampire, only a wounded one.

But why would he opt to spend the night in the cold water when there was enough room for both of them? And considering that they had already had sex, it would be less awkward. But he chose to sleep in the tub!

Gathering the sheets around herself, Jophiel crawled to the edge of the bed and picked up her dress, her eyes trained on Darion all the while. She didn’t want him to catch her stark naked. Weird because he’d already seen all of her.

And she was glad he didn’t wake up at that moment. When she was done, she moved across the room to get a closer look at him. His beard had grown way too long to hide his thin lips. His tout muscles were even more pronounced when immersed in water. She dreamingly watched him when he fluttered his eyes open to catch her drooling over him.

"Jophiel?" He called her.

Her eyes, previously trained on his chest, shot up to his face, her cheeks already red. "You’re awake!" She voiced nervously.

"How long have you been...?"

"Long enough to notice you watch me like a omelette ready to be served to a royal scum."

"I’m sorry," she apologized, rising to avoid his eyes. He leaned forward, the water splashing in the tub. From the way he held the fridges of the tub, Jophiel could tell he wanted to stand. Scared that she’d catch a glimpse of his monster from last night, she turned to face the other way.

Darion would have chuckled at her habit but he felt guilty all over again seeing her like this. He spent the night in the tub despite what he’d done last night. She must be mad at him. On the contrary, she was not!

He stepped out of the tub, stark naked, before slipping into a pair of pants. He appeared somehow clean compared to how he looked when he stepped into the inn. Right now, the only thing he wanted was to get far away from this woman as possible.

He was not the romantic type and he knew it. But Jophiel... She was another thing. A thing so innocent he could not ignore. Deep down, he hated himself for giving in to his desires despite knowing well it’d be their first and last night together. But she was not a hoe he’d toss a coin at in the morning and just go by his business. She was with him in his mission to find and kill someone she wanted to serve, every fucking day!

"Meet me downstairs," he said once he was done dressing. Jophiel only turned when she heard his receding steps down the hallway that led to the tavern.

She didn’t know why but he sounded indifferent today, as if he wanted to keep moving. But wasn’t he like that everyday? Always on the move. What still remained a mystery to her was what he’d do once he caught up with Gabriel and Elena. If he wanted to hurt them, she knew she had to stop him somehow.

Throwing caution to the wind, she gathered the little they brought last night and followed him downstairs.

The capital was buzzing with noise of merchants calling prospect customers to buy a wedding gift for the royal family. But just then, a file of knights marched from an ally dismissing the crowd that had gathered around this part of the city.

"Three people, a half vampire, a demon and our princess, Elena Thornhart are trying to escape the city!" A local court official announced. The crowd gathered around him quick to hear what he had to say.

"Isn’t that who we are looking for?" Jophiel asked as the crowd pressed in on her. She looked at her side but Darion was nowhere to be seen. Her eyes searched frantically among the crowd when she noticed him sneaking behind a knight before pulling him into an alley. Minutes later, he emerged from the alley now dressed as a knight of Mysthaven.

"The king has ordered immediate closure of the city until these three are found. In his grace and wisdom, His Majesty is offering a ransom of five gold coins to anyone who brings his sister to him, alive."

"That’s way too low!" Jophiel whispered. But the look she got from a woman standing beside her. "I’m sorry," she apologized before finding her way into the back of the crowd. Darion was nowhere to be found!

Gabriel opened his eyes as the bright light faded when the door suddenly burst open. Two armed knights entered, their eyes fixated on him and... Wait! Elena was standing beside him as she stared at herself in disbelief. She was dressed in all red like one of the women who played the harp in today’s event.

She turned to look at Gabriel, her eyes traveling his length in disbelief. Unlike her, he was the violin player. His moustache was shaved clean while a red hat rested on his head.

"You two! What are you doing here?" One of the knights asked. The other one was searching behind the doors.

"I.."

"We were just having some fun," Gabriel replied. And faking awe, his eyes surveyed the room in horror. "I didn’t realize we were in one of the royal chambers!"

"Have you seen princess Thornhart or some Lord Brumfort?" The knight asked instead.

Gabriel and Elena exchanged glances before shaking their heads. "No idea who those are. We’re just here for the feast, that’s all."

The knight eyed them curiously before turning to his companion. "There’s nothing to see here. I should not find you two here when I come back!" He warned before following the other knight out.
