A Dragon against the Whole World-Chapter 103: Kola Giant Eagle, Murderous Intent Aflame
Broken Ridge Hills, Bone-Chewing Clan.
The ogres, one by one, were full and satisfied, half-sitting, half-lying on the ground, picking their teeth, dozing off, biting their nails... Their mental state seemed extremely relaxed.
However.
Their weapons were all placed right next to them, within arm’s reach.
With just a command, these seemingly lazy ogres could instantly transform into trained warriors, battle-ready soldiers.
It had already been three days since then.
To decisively kill the Diamond Elder, Galos had dispatched elites from other clans, including units like commanders and mages, concentrating them behind the hill for an ambush.
A thousand days of training for one decisive use.
Galos usually did not need his followers to fight for him, but that did not mean he wanted to be a nanny, keeping them away from danger.
The Diamond Elder was no ordinary being.
Because he didn’t use the Investigation Technique, to prevent alerting the enemy, Galos estimated its level based on its size, thinking it was at least level 11, possibly 12 or even level 13.
The probability of level 12 was highest.
This life level already surpassed Galos by three levels, equivalent to a young adult over 25 years old Golden Dragon.
With every ascension in life level, the creature’s average strength elevated to a higher tier. Furthermore, the Diamond Giant was a standout among giants, exceptionally formidable at the same level, capable of fighting beings above its level.
To take down such a Diamond Giant, hunting it in encirclement was the best option.
One-on-one duels were a knight’s honor, but not Galos’s. He didn’t care about such things.
Compared to illusory honor, Galos wanted victory and to keep winning in the game of survival, no matter what.
But it wasn’t only about victory.
The key was achieving the greatest victory with the smallest cost.
If the opponent, in its dying counterattack, heavily injured him or worse, such a narrow win would be equivalent to failure in Galos’s eyes, bringing immense safety risks later on.
Galos was neither humble nor self-depreciating.
He knew he wasn’t a mighty being yet, but no longer weak, nor the young dragon that had to cautiously survive when he first left Iron Dragon Lady’s territory. Fighting above his level wasn’t difficult for him.
Yet, Galos was neither arrogant nor self-satisfied.
He clearly knew that neither dragons nor giants were comparable to ordinary fierce beasts or magical creatures. Defeating a Diamond Giant that was above his level wasn’t simple and carried significant risk.
But for the prospering territory on track, and for future growth and development.
After weighing the pros and cons.
Galos deemed it worth the risk.
The followers were ambushed behind the hills.
Galos himself was high in the sky, concealed by thicker clouds.
From above, with enough distance and momentum gained, Galos could unleash a strike beyond his limits.
"Black oil, scale powder, Blood Burst Technique, all are prepared."
"While the followers distract and hold the Diamond Elder’s attention, I accumulate kinetic energy, launching a sudden assault, dealing a fatal blow in my strongest state."
"As long as this strongest first strike heavily injures it, together with the followers encircling it, it can be killed at minimal cost."
Galos pondered the combat strategy, patiently waiting.
However.
Things didn’t go as planned.
Galos’s plan fell through.
Time continued slipping by, from day to dusk, yet there was no sign of the Diamond Elder who hadn’t come alone.
Another creature had come instead of the Diamond Elder.
Kola Giant Eagles—originating from the Wind Elemental Plane, these creatures gradually spread across major world planes. They belong to a semi-intelligent species, with intelligence levels akin to magic creatures like the Earth Bear, naturally capable of perceiving and manipulating wind elemental energy. Their flight combines speed and grace, like dancers in the wind.
Two Kola Giant Eagles circled high in the sky, with wingspans exceeding ten meters.
In the cover of dusk, they silently approached Broken Ridge Hills, their sharp eyes surveying the ogres’ movements.
However, the Kola Giant Eagles were unaware.
They had already been exposed.
Above them, Galos watched their every move from an even higher sky.
"Scouts sent by the Stone Giant."
While scouting the Stone Giant Camp, Galos had seen several Kola Giant Eagle followers under their command; it wasn’t hard to deduce that these two Kola Giant Eagles were sent by the Stone Giant.
Due to their dull perception and lack of exploration skills.
Stone Giants would keep Kola Giant Eagles for surveillance and reconnaissance, and their legacy included specific methods for taming them.
Seeing is believing, hearing is not.
There’s a gap between hearsay and what one witnesses firsthand.
Previously scouting out the Stone Giant Camp, Galos chose to go himself rather than sending followers, partly for efficiency, and partly because he trusted his eyes and senses more.
Flying at higher altitudes, he avoided the Kola Giant Eagles’ patrol, instead observing their camp thoroughly.
"The Diamond Elder did not come alone but sent eagles to scout."
"Was this out of realizing the danger, or just due to caution?"
As he observed the two Kola Giant Eagles, Galos narrowed his eyes, contemplating.
Meanwhile, the Kola Giant Eagles quietly circled the sky, their open vista from high altitude mirrored Broken Ridge Hills’ situation, not just its front where the Bone-Chewing Clan dwelled, but flying over to the back, their keen eyes spotted the hidden elite soldiers behind the hill.
The two Kola Giant Eagles exchanged a glance.
Then, under the cover of dusk, they quietly flew away, just as they had come quietly.
Yet, before leaving the airspace of Broken Ridge Hills, a tremendous oppressive force suddenly descended from the sky.
The feathers of the two Kola Giant Eagles almost stood on end as they simultaneously looked upwards.
Their pupils constricted sharply, their breath catching.
Above the clouds, a red comet was tearing through the night sky, swooping down, the trailing dark red flames at the wing bones’ tips burning scar markings in the night.
Galos, like a descending calamity, his entire being radiating a deathly oppression.
Skree!
No longer flying silently, the two Kola Giant Eagles ramped their speed to the limit, soaring away in different directions, their flight once graceful as ’dancers in the wind’ now appeared flustered and panicked under the immense life-threatening pressure.
Galos pursued them at an even faster pace.
Almost instantly, he caught up with the larger male eagle, gripping its spine with his left claw, no matter how the eagle flapped its wings, it couldn’t budge, then seizing this male eagle, the dark red flames surged behind, tracing an arc.
Galos swiftly turned to catch the female eagle flying in the opposite direction.
His right claw clamped onto the second’s chest like an iron vice, the claw tips slightly sinking into its feathers, a slight force would rip apart its ribcage.
With one eagle in each claw.
Under Galos’s grip, they were paralyzed, losing the capability or opportunity to resist and struggle.
With a final flap of his Dragon Wings, Galos carried the two eagles to land on a rocky platform at the hill’s peak.
"Now."
Galos released his claws, tossing the still-breathing giant eagles onto the rock surface.
At first moment, instinctively, they tried to escape again.
With one sweep of Galos’s Dragon Wing, like a guillotine, he cut off a cluster of crest feathers atop their heads before they realized.
The two Kola Giant Eagles immediately fell silent, trembling under Galos’s shadow, not daring to move rashly.
"Speak your purpose."
Galos spoke.
The words of the Red Iron Dragon were calm, as if a daily inquiry, yet due to his formidable and fierce appearance, it still represented a death threat, terrifying the Kola Giant Eagles.
"To investigate Bone-Chewing Clan’s status."
"Report any anomalies to Aibadan Elder."
"The Elder suspects something unusual behind the Bone-Chewing Clan’s reaction."
The two Kola Giant Eagles hastily answered.
Without doubt, the Aibadan Elder they mentioned was the Diamond Giant.
Hearing the two eagles’ response, Galos remained silent, his eyes revealing a palpable, almost tangible, fierce killing intent.
