A Dragon against the Whole World-Chapter 52: Targeted Training
"Your strikes are too light. Use your magic power and continue,"
encouraged Galos.
Without seeing Galos get angry, and under his continuous encouragement, the Violent Bears gradually let go, constantly increasing their strength and using magic energy to reinforce their bodies.
Initially, they were afraid of angering Galos by hurting him.
But soon, they realized their worries were unnecessary.
A bear paw, covered in thick rock, slammed heavily onto Galos’s Dragon Scale with a strong gust of wind.
Bang!
Amidst flying scales, Galos didn’t even flinch, with a few black-red Dragon Scales faintly visible under the exploded scales.
The Violent Bear also felt a solid, explosive counterforce rebound onto itself, stumbling it backward a few steps, with some extremely sharp fragments lodging into the arm, tearing through its hard rock armor and embedding in its flesh.
The nature of the Violent Bears is fierce and combative.
Having the opportunity to attack without reservation and with a dragon as a sparring partner is very rare.
They saw Galos’s demands as a gift, a form of training, and so they rubbed their fists excitedly.
Ignoring the pain in their arms, the Violent Bears took large steps forward towards Galos again, raising their bear claws to strike.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The dull sounds echoed incessantly, reverberating over Needleleaf Valley.
Besides the counterstroke and cuts, the Violent Bears also felt Galos’s Dragon Scales growing hotter, with an ember-red hue already present, slowly extending toward his spine.
After a few more minutes.
Bang—Boom!
The bear paw hit Galos once more, and this time, the exploding scale pieces landed on the Violent Bears. With a deafening boom, it transformed into a fiery flame and a powerful shockwave, flinging the unprepared Violent Bears away, their bodies torn open.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Several Violent Bears were all blasted away, while a layer of exploding scales on Galos turned ember-red, emitting a heat that distorted the surrounding air.
"It explodes without needing a fire attribute attack."
"This layer of exploding scales can now absorb kinetic energy and convert it to heat, reducing the impact damage I receive while causing counter-damage." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Galos flicked his tail with satisfaction.
Eyeing a few quivering, singed Violent Bears, he urged, "I didn’t tell you to stop; continue attacking me. Don’t forget your Magic-like Skills; use those too."
His words awakened the Violent Bears.
Surrounding Galos, they began to use Magic-like Skills, with a casual swing of their claws conjuring thick and hard giant stones, hurtling them at Galos, only to be shattered by his exploding scales.
Some Violent Bears, mindful of Galos’s commands, tried by any means to hurt him, stamping the ground.
Sharp earthen spikes broke through the earth, angling trickily towards Galos’s abdominal cavity.
Instinctively sensing danger, Galos moved, lifted his paw, and crushed the spikes inch by inch.
While there is a layer of scale armor outside the abdominal cavity, its hardness cannot compare to the chest and back scales, and attacks with vibration or penetration effects could still cause damage.
"This is a weak point I’ve neglected before."
Galos thought, planning to specifically train his little dragon just in case.
Time slowly passed into night.
The Violent Bears lay on the ground, their bodies covered in marks from explosions and a look of utter exhaustion on their faces. Initially, they thought attacking themselves was a form of encouragement from Galos, feeling very excited.
But now excitement had been entirely replaced by fatigue.
And with fatigue, they were also surprised and filled with heartfelt reverence.
Despite being attacked countless times, Galos remained spirited, while they were nearly dead from exhaustion.
Looking over at the Violent Bears, Galos nodded in satisfaction and said, "Rest well. When you’ve recovered in a few days, we’ll continue."
The number of Violent Bears had increased, and the training effect was better than before.
Self-training methods like climbing mountains weren’t precise enough to exercise the entire body.
Unlike other dragons, Galos did not gather followers to conquer for him or satisfy a desire to rule and enslave. Instead, he aimed to enhance himself more precisely, becoming stronger.
Galos always believed.
In this world teeming with extraordinary life, only one’s strength matters.
Wealth, beauty, and power.
These are all by-products of personal strength.
Galos’s obsession was increasingly bizarre... On the other side, Samantha thought silently, stepping back a few steps to distance herself from Galos, afraid of being targeted.
She didn’t know that Galos’s strength stemmed from this ’obsession.’
She only thought that Galos was somewhat perverted, enjoying being hit, yet Galos was too strong, leaving him unscathed and those attacking him exhausted.
Without letting Samantha continue assisting in training.
Galos, seizing the night, soared into the air and landed at the edge of Needleleaf Valley, picking a spot free of other creatures before walking towards a protruding rock pillar.
Taking steps closer.
After pondering for a few seconds, Galos stood up straight and slammed into it, with a thud, breaking the pillar, feeling a jarring discomfort and a faint soreness.
The scale armor outside his abdominal cavity wasn’t exploding scales and didn’t absorb kinetic energy.
Being relatively vulnerable, this part was impacted despite the protection of the scale armor.
"Indeed, it’s a significant weakness too fragile to be ignored."
Galos took a deep breath, steeling his heart.
Fearing attention or misunderstanding for what seemed odd behavior, he checked his surroundings to ensure no other creatures were present and then resumed climbing mountains with steely determination, enduring pain, thudding repeatedly.
This astounding endurance and resolve had no audience.
Only the twin moons in the night sky, like a pair of eyes, silently watched everything below.
Meanwhile.
In the Balang Black Oil Field, the territory where the Black Rock Duchy Third Heavy Cavalry Corps is stationed.
The Dwarf Alchemist Groni picked up an overall black-gray scale with a hint of dark red at the edges and brought it to his Alchemy Workshop.
"Use it to create a Tracker and trace the young dragon’s trail."
He thought to himself, focusing on the scale piece.
"Melt it into a liquid matrix, then extract the essence, stimulate activity, and perform alchemical shaping."
He habitually muttered the fundamental process of Alchemy.
Before the stone table overflowing with tools, the Dwarf Mage inscribed runes in the air, landing on the crucible to ignite flames, then placed the scale inside to begin the initial melting stage.
Yet unexpectedly.
This scale with a metallic texture didn’t melt in the flames; instead, it gradually turned ember-red and increasingly luminous.
"A peculiar reaction with fire?"
"Could dragon scale characteristics have changed due to being mixed-blood?"
Having neither seen nor heard of such a change, the Dwarf Mage thought it could be a groundbreaking discovery that could support a treatise and boost his reputation among Alchemists.
He leaned in close with excitement, eyes wide to observe the scale’s transformation while intensifying the flames.
