Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Offering Flesh and Loyalty

Galos’s Dragon Claw sank deep into the chest of the Gluttonous Demon, clearly feeling the heartbeat.

Kalu’s Black Iron Skin groaned under the pressure, a growl of unwillingness rolling in his throat.

It opened its bloodthirsty mouth, shark-like teeth biting down hard on Galos’s Dragon Arm, only to feel as if biting into cold iron as its teeth were shaken and went sour by the Scale Armor.

It struggled frantically, trying to break free from Galos’s suppression, but the Giant Dragon on its body was as heavy as a mountain, and the Dragon Claw remained motionless, instead pressing down inch by inch with its struggle, crushing its ribs with a crackle.

"I will give you two choices."

Galos leaned in, and his scorching breath, smelling of sulfur and metal, sprayed on the Gluttonous Demon’s face, while his Dragon Wings slowly lifted and stretched out, slicing like guillotine blades against the Gluttonous Demon’s throat, drawing a line of blood.

"The first choice is death."

Galos’s gaze was stern, full of dangerous killing intent: "I will destroy your clan, tear out every bone, and dig out your heart to place it in my trophy room. My legacy tells me that the heart of a Gluttonous Demon can survive on its own, perfect for verification."

"The second choice is submission."

Galos placed his Dragon Claw on the Gluttonous Demon’s head, his voice deep: "Become my follower, pledge loyalty to me, and when you have built enough meritorious deeds, I will grant you the Dragon Vein, transforming you into a Dragon Vein Gluttonous Demon. In the future, you can devour stronger prey, you won’t starve, and your clan will thrive under my Dragon Wings."

The way the Dragon Race subjugates their followers can be summarized in four words.

— Threat and temptation.

Pure threat will make them go down with you, sworn not to surrender.

Pure temptation will make them scoff, indifferent.

But when combining threat with temptation... simple, direct, brutal, effective.

For the Monster Race in the wilderness, survival is the most important thing. Only those living in resource-rich areas, in the Civilized Realm, would consider dignity and freedom.

The Gluttonous Demon gradually stopped struggling.

Under the threat of death, its mind cooled, filled with fury, finally realizing that it was no match for Galos at all.

Even when the other abandoned the aerial advantage and came to the ground.

Still, it was beaten thoroughly, with no power to fight back.

After seven bombings and a savage beating, even the Bone-Chewing Clan had to acknowledge Galos’s strength.

Galos released the Gluttonous Demon who had ceased to struggle and quietly watched it, waiting for an answer.

The Gluttonous Demon staggered up, suddenly tearing off a piece of flesh with its sharp claws and then knelt on one knee before Galos.

Holding the bloody piece of flesh with both hands, it presented it to Galos.

The Gluttonous Demon said in a rough voice: "Please consume my flesh and blood and accept my loyalty."

Offering one’s own flesh and blood to a stronger being is the oldest allegiance ceremony in the Ogre Race, also recorded in the Dragon’s Legacy, and the Gluttonous Demon’s flesh and blood are not poisonous.

Galos accepted the flesh, swallowing it down his throat.

Seeing this, the Gluttonous Demon knelt completely before him, saying: "I am Kalu, king of the Bone-Chewing Clan, and from now on, I will submit under your Dragon Wings and become your follower."

The Clan Leader submitted.

The other Ogres ceased their resistance, with no dissent, all kneeling around Galos and the Gluttonous Demon, swearing allegiance.

"Very well, stand up."

"This will be the most correct decision of your life."

Galos said.

His temptation was not mere words; the Gluttonous Demon had decent talent and was worth transforming with the Dragon Vein, though not now.

After swearing allegiance, no more hostility.

The sense of threat from Galos dissipated, and the atmosphere was no longer tense.

Kalu scratched his scalp and couldn’t help but drool at Galos.

After hesitating for a few seconds, it boldly said: "Dragon Lord, could I taste your flavor?" 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

"I’m not asking for flesh... maybe you’ll shed your skin... could you give me a piece of your claw or foot skin to taste, and that would satisfy me."

Kalu was only thinking about eating, bluntly speaking his mind.

Galos said calmly: "No skin, but those explosive Dragon Scales from before, you can have more if you can stomach them."

Kalu shook his head repeatedly.

Those explosive scales were hard to digest.

Even with a gluttonous talent, Kalu still felt a burning pain in his stomach from the aftermath of forcibly consuming those scales, causing some damage to his intestines.

"War Lizardfolk, Jackal-Wolf Folk, and Gray-haired Werewolf."

"How are these three Monster Races currently? You should have encountered conflicts with them in your expansion."

Galos asked.

The Gluttonous Demon thought for a moment, grinning: "The War Lizardfolk’s tail is tasty, their territory was breached by our clan, most were killed or injured, and the rest scattered and fled. The Jackal-Wolf folk’s meat is a bit gamey, they ran fast, and when our Warriors approached, they abandoned their territory. We only caught a few; we didn’t encounter the Gray-haired Werewolves, they fled in advance."

Galos further asked: "Did you occupy Crescent Valley and Wailing Cliff?"

The Gluttonous Demon shook its head: "Our clansmen are limited in number. After eating the remaining food in those places, we left without occupying them."

After inquiring for a few more moments, Galos roughly understood the situation.

The Ogre Clan, due to its limited number of members, expanded primarily through brutish plundering and hunting, mainly for more food, without intent to occupy territories of other Monster Races.

Faced with their first wave of attack, the Jackal-Wolf Folk and Gray-haired Werewolves fled.

But given the Jackal-Wolf Folk’s cunning and the Gray-haired Werewolves’ attachment to their territory, they would likely return to assess the situation and, upon finding that the Ogres have not settled the land, would likely come back.

The risks of roaming the wilderness, searching for new territory, are too high.

Then there’s the situation with Scale Earth Rift.

According to the Gluttonous Demon, caravans used to come periodically at first, ’sending’ them lots of food, but their numbers gradually dwindled later on.

Galos found it easy to deduce.

Due to the Ogres’ excessive and unplanned plundering, Scale Earth Rift was marked as a high-risk road, leading to fewer caravans passing through.

More than that.

There might even be garrisons surveying the Scale Earth Rift’s situation, indicating potential risks.

Thinking of this, Galos sensed trouble and felt like giving the Gluttonous Demon another beating.

Their reckless expansion had disrupted his plan to establish a stable channel for acquiring Black Oil.

But fate is so unpredictable, with variables and accidents occurring unknowingly, the world does not revolve around Galos, and six years is enough to change many things, making it hard to have everything go smoothly.

Things have come to this.

Galos would think of other solutions.

If problems arise, find a way to solve them, with no need to be troubled by it.

"If the Jackal-Wolf Folk and Gray-haired Werewolves are still around, while Wailing Cliff might not be, Crescent Valley should have some accumulated Black Oil from a few months ago."

He thought.

Scanning the surroundings, Galos saw the scorched earth full of wreckage from his bombing, then withdrew his gaze and said to the Gluttonous Demon Kalu: "Adjust and rest with your clansmen, I will return shortly."

After a pause, he added: "Do not raid the trade route again during this time, wait for my orders."

After giving instructions to the Bone-Chewing Clan.

Galos soared into the sky, traversing the night, heading to Crescent Valley.

Over six years without eating, he missed the taste of Black Oil dearly, hoping Crescent Valley still had some in store.
